  1. Seem to be going against the grain here but, other than the GK & RB, I think the new boys looked pretty good individually. Hopefully when they start to understand each others runs etc. we'll be quite exciting going forward. Could do with a back 4 in the correct positions though, thought McKenzie was fine when he came on, again contrary to popular opinion. As for the season in general might as well play the 4 Glasgow derbies now and be done with it. 20+ points clear of Hearts who will be 10+ points clear of 4th I imagine. Not sure where the intrigue and excitement will come from??
  2. Despite what Sky etc. think the strength of a league isn't 1st & 2nd, it's 4th, 5th, 6th. Other than Hearts, who were fairly decent last season, the rest were dire!
  3. Season starts next week, we made that clear by taking a Celtic player on loan then playing him for every minute of the LC group stages.
  4. Amazed we couldn't find a player of that standard, anywhere in the world, from a team he can play against. 1st game of the season even more pointless.
  5. McKenna (plus bonus £1m), Cosgrove, Ramsay, Ferguson & Barron would be a hefty amount of cash in a short space of time. Still sounds like we're losing out to Hearts for this summer's obvious signings.
  6. Ultimately that's why Celtic or Rangers won't go to England, a League where Liverpool & Man Utd can go 30 years without a title. Where Villa, Everton & Leeds have won nothing at all this century and Newcastle nothing since the '50s. Imagine they end up like that, how many folk from Peterhead etc. would turn up for a Monday night game v Southampton?
  7. It's the only league in Europe that's as bad as ours though (even then they have 3 teams instead of 2). I'll need to update the list I did a year or 2 ago.
  8. 4th place with less than half the points of 1st place in the league now!
  9. In one of their recent trebles they beat us in the L Cup Final, we never turned up at all so it was straight forward. When we got back to our bus there were already some Celtic fans back at their cars, didn't even stay for the presentation. Even when they clinched the title at Pittodrie a lot of them were walking out the ground 10 minutes later as if they'd just seen a 0-0. I guess that's why they both go about 10 in a row so much, not really anything else for them domestically.
  10. Do both teams who are 20 points clear in the league, and have won every league for 40 years, now get into the group stages of the money league? No need for B teams in the lowland league, they'll be winning 4 and 5 nil every week in the Premiership! Fair play to them for beating 2 top German sides (1 of them without a striker) but our league will become even more pointless if that was possible!
  11. 10/1 seems a crazy price to win 2 games, 1 at home then a possible final against hardly one of the leading lights in Europe.
  12. Dundee at home is massive, especially with St Johnstone playing St Mirren (McRorie suspended now too!). I think our goal difference might save us in the end but the decline that started in the dying embers of McInnes's time is heading back to Mark McGhee days at this rate. Need virtually a whole new squad this summer. Hopefully get the cash for Ferguson & Ramsay to finance it.
  13. Imagine Celtic win the treble & Rangers the Europa League, the numbers all over Scotland deserting their local team will be worse than ever! Amazed we're up to 6.000 season tickets already on the back of this season and 2 League Cups in 32 years!! My 6 yo is already picking up (in Aberdeenshire) on how many people in his class support the teams that always win.
  14. Barca & Lyon going out too, could actually win this thing!
  15. Hard to see any seeded Europeans struggling too much to get through the groups - Uruguay/Poland about the toughest they could get?
  16. Waiting for Sky to start hyping Sunday's game as a £30/£40/£50M game the way they do with the playoff final down south. If ever Scottish football needed a Leicester miracle it was this season, the chasm is going to be more vast than ever next season.
  17. 12/1 a good e/w bet on Rangers with that draw I'd say (4/1 to reach the final).
  18. Looked blue in the photo I saw. Anyway, far more pressing concerns, need to get the recruitment right this summer. 10th in the league now!
  19. Small point but why can't we have our away strip at Tynecastle yet St Johnstone and Rangers can both wear blue?
  20. Reflects the quality of the league; how far behind the rest are these days and the salary on offer - so sadly not such a great standing anymore. Unlikely to get a top coach from elsewhere these days. Having seen Celtic & Rangers in the flesh recently there's nothing special (other than Celtic for 20 mins maybe) yet they're miles clear of 3rd.
  21. Nobody (realistic) is that exciting - we can't tempt a high flyer from the Norwegian league, and probably very few leagues I imagine. Of those mentioned I guess Goodwin is the best option. However, unlike some, I don't think our squad is that great - certainly doesn't fit in with the exciting brand of football Dave was promising. Ramirez would be hitting 30 goals with the service Rooney got a few years back.
  22. 1st half was a training session for Celtic, 2nd half was a football match - funnily enough a lot of Celtic's players didn't fancy the 2nd half as much when they were actually pressed and tackled. In all my years of going to football I don't think standing about admiring your opponents has ever worked! Hopefully we can keep McRorie away from centre half after the 2nd half last night, wasted back there.
  23. Based on our away form this season it's hard to see how we won't lose, can't even get a replay!!
  24. 2nd time I've been disappointed with only a point against Rangers this season! Other than 5 minutes of Kent in the 2nd half I thought they offered nothing, very strange. Kamara, Barisic or Morelos certainly didn't look like multi million pound players. Very frustrating to be so far behind Hearts, dodgy results against the bottom sides have cost us this season. The team that knocked us out of Europe are still easily the best we've faced at Pittodrie this season, nae sure how much further they got though?
