  1. Hopefully enough points clear of St Johnstone & Ross Co now but that was awful for the most part yesterday. Never mind a new manager, who's in charge of recruitment for the latest mass overhaul required this summer? Someone who at least knows what a centre half looks like hopefully! Jensen, Gartenmann, Gueye, McGarry, Morris, Williams, Dadia - sorry list!!
  2. League Cup '76-'77 & '89-'90; Scottish Cup '82-'83 - can't see it happening again. Has anyone else beaten them both in a Semi-Final then Final? We also beat them both in the League Cup of '79-'80 and Scottish Cup of '81-'82 if you include earlier rounds.
  3. The appeal is being heard on Thursday and seemingly the buses are coming up regardless. They've got the town hall booked from lunchtime until midnight with booze and food (not sure how??). Feel sorry for those that live down in the centre of town.
  4. Good effort, amazing what a bit of feel good can do (similar to what McInnes did for 3 years with us). Don't think we've ever been so certain to lose at home to you before. 😞
  5. Can't believe it's the Cup this week, certainly doesn't feel like it. Maybe it's the early kick-off and certainty of defeat (yet to even score against Killie!), although Sky Bet has us as favourites for some bizarre reason!!?
  6. It's boring because half the country supports the 2 teams that win & only 2 teams can win because half the country supports them. In the modern Sky hype world I'm not sure how you ever change that (especially when UEFA throw £Millions at them even when they don't get any points). We're closing in on the 40th anniversary of anyone else winning the league (nobody has even challenged in the Sky/Bosman/Champions League era) and on top of that all you see are Rangers & Celtic strips at Edinburgh airport; Rangers & Celtic birthday cakes in ASDA in Aberdeen etc. My 8yo has picked up on that already. Sadly the only hope maybe these Burnley/Dundee & Bournemouth/Hibs deals although neither of these seem set up to properly compete at the top.
  7. Stonehaven residents don't want the 6 buses coming up from the central belt. Let them have the march with only the locals that want it??
  8. We've taken 5 points from 39 v Hibs, St Mirren, Killie, St Johnstone & Dundee! We've got 4 cup finals v Ross Co & Livi, really not confident at all.
  9. As if the football isn't bad enough just now we're getting this forced upon us in 2 weeks. Only found out that roads were getting closed in the town centre through social media a couple of days ago. Since the news broke there has been near unanimous objection to it locally but it seems they're getting the go ahead regardless. Numbers expected are 200, including 6 buses shipped in specially, so not many locals other than a few who have moved up here. The band from Dumbarton that are coming sound really charming from their social media pages - going to be a great family day all round. 😞
  10. He's achieved the seemingly impossible and made us twice as bad as we were under Robson. Made St Johnstone look like prime Barcelona at times with our atrocious defending and 1 man midfield. I don't think we can hold off Ross County with 11 games left, and there's no way that shower are beating Raith or whoever in a play-off. 😞 Sky Bet still offering an incredible 14/1 for us to finish in the Bottom 2!!
  11. 9 of our 23 games have been v Celtic, Rangers & Hearts. Hopefully we can get a decent haul from the next 10 games, although our home record is awful (2 points out of 15 from Hibs, Killie, St Mirren, Dundee & St Johnstone).
  12. Think Sokler will be decent when he finally gets a run, but Miovski on a different level now. 19 goals in a struggling team with no width is amazing. Shankland has improved a lot since leaving us, he's a great finisher, but I think Miovski shades it all things considered. Better get a proper fee and chunky sell on % when he leaves.
  13. After our usual stand off & make look Celtic look amazing tactics in the 1st half it was good to see us take part in the 2nd half. If only we could keep Miovski for another season!
  14. MIovski makes a lot of good runs, unfortunately most of the team either don't see them quickly enough or can't get play a decent pass. With 5 wide players & 5 central midfielders in the squad it was a bit worrying we picked all 5 central players against the worst league team in the country!
  15. A lot of what you say is fair enough (although I think the financial gap from 2nd to 3rd is worse, and harder to bridge, than lower down). A couple of things though; 1. We seem to need a new team worth of players at least every season - even if we got it spot on and they were all Miovski standard, would that be enough to actually challenge for the league? 2. There seems to be a ceiling on what we can sell for. Miovski is young, improving and on a long contract yet people laugh at us getting more than £5/£6 Million. We could have the next Messi on our hands and wouldn't get anything like the money Rangers, Celtic or a foreign team would.
  16. On top of their cast iron guarantee of the title every year, the top 2 have only lost 3 of their last 38 finals v the rest now!! We've lost all 8 finals against them in the Sky/Bosman/Champions League era. I know it's a much discussed topic but we really need to go our separate ways. I was telling my tearful 8yo on Sunday that hopefully he'll be lucky enough to see it happen in his lifetime. In the meantime it's getting harder to answer his "what's the point" question as we wait patiently for the once every 15 year final we might actually win. We could finish 3rd 20 years in a row without making a dent.
  17. Been OK since he came back from injury but I'd be surprised they'd want him for any reason other than home grown quotas.
  18. Viaplay carrying on with their Rangers v Celtic Cup Final build up today. Doing a great job selling our game!
  19. Pretty sure he was booked when the game stopped. We had a foul and thought it was a Rangers player getting booked but it wasn't.
  20. Thought Rangers were average (sounds like Celtic were yesterday too), yet they'll still finish 50 points clear of the rest. 4 of our first 12 games have been against the Top 2, after next week 8 of our first 13 games will have been away from home. Hopefully after we've all played everyone home and away the table will look a bit better. Finally we really need to play 2 up front in the final against that defence, should have been 2 up in 10 minutes.
  21. Nae sure how that's different from anyone else - see Utd v Ross County; Hearts v Gretna. Think these things snowball after a while, I thought we'd take 30,000 to the ICT final and once we got to that number everyone wanted to go. Also, aside from the chance of winning, you are more likely to take your kids to an ICT final than Rangers or Celtic.
  22. Every bus company in the NE booked up already and best train price nearly £70! More folk from Aberdeen & shire than Glasgow going to be there! 😉
  23. Would be more inclined to take my 8yo if it was a 50/50 stadium, wouldn't really be keen if it ends up a home game for Rangers. In reality they get their hands on all the other tickets not sold to the clubs in any case so won't actually be 50/50. Interesting to see if Rangers are given tickets above us in the South Stand for a League Cup Final in Glasgow given we weren't allowed tickets above ICT for a League Cup Final in Glasgow and the seats were left empty.
