  1. Cappielow is now becoming embarrasing. Front few rows of seats in the main stand out of use and look a mess, and as you say the place looks like it hasn't seen a damp cloth since 1999. Forget any talk of character etc, it's a dump and isn't attractive for encouraging new fans in the modern day. A pity as the pitch is great.
  2. It really depends on how you look at it. If you play 5 lines per week on the standard lottery, then after 40 years you have created a 1 in 1250 chance of winning the jackpot.....some would see that as a positive. Personally I know a few folk who have won the jackpot, so it gives you a glimmer of hope it could one day be you.....however I'm realistic enough to realise I will likely never win it.
  3. You're being selective. This didn't happen throughout the match. If it was down to that then Andy would have been broken more times. Andy just couldn't get his return game going and get the ball into play to give him a sniff. You're saying Andy wasn't aggressive enough and therefore citing that as the main reason he never won. I would say absolutely not the case and that it was down to Federer's serve. His serves were consistently hitting the lines, the serve stats were through the roof. He lost only 21 points on his serve the whole match - and that has nothing to do with aggression. If Federer served like he did today I think Andy would have won.
  4. Aye ok, we get it, Andy Murray.....aggression...you've made your point. Either you ar wrong or the ex pros/commentators I've been watching are wrong, because all thorough this tournament I've consistently heard them praising Murray's aggression in his matches. Andy had a fine tournament and on another day would have won on Friday. His statistics on Friday are pretty similar to Djokovic's today whereas Federer's first serves in percentage dropped by 10% today and his unforced errors were much higher today also. Before the tournament I said Murray was the best on grass and would win Wimbledon, obviously I was wrong but I do believe he'll win Wimbledon and still add a couple of grandslams to his 2 already.
  5. Iwouldn't go as far as that. Final of a grand slam for Jamie is a great achievement. I also suspect Andy will use this loss in a positive way similar to 2 years ago and come back stronger.
  6. Andy played really well, yes his second serve isn't the greatest but he makes up for it in other aspects of his game. 3 ex professionals today said today that Federer played his best match ever.....the best player ever played his best match ever!! Federer has peaked this week but come the US open Andy could peak and beat him on another day.
  7. Murray is playing well. Federer is just playinga at an unbelievable level. 75% 1st serves!!
  8. Andy looking solid already.
  9. Could be an epic day of tennis with both matches potentially going the full distance. I'm definitely more concerned about Federer than I was at the start of the tournament but I still reckon if Andy plays as well as he can then he will come through it.
  10. Unfortunately I don't think it will be the case. Each of Andy's 5 previous semi finals have been the second match on semi final Friday, which I'm sure is to do with tv audiences.
  11. Federer has looked good but he's not been tested. Although I obviously wouldn't be surprised if he went on to win it, I still think he will struggle with Murray, Djokovic or wawrinka. There's been loads of times where top players including Federer have sailed through the early rounds of a grandslam hardly breaking a sweat and then been dumped in a later round when the quality of the opposition has improved. I'll say it again, for me Murray is the best grass court player just now and I'm confident he will do it.....although I'm actually more concerned about wawrinka who looks very good. Ps.....am I the only one who wanted Djokovic to win? I want Murray to play him in the final and beat him.
  12. Yeah, I find most tennis players particularly the ones at the top very humble and honest. Unlike footballers they are pretty honest after a match and tell it how it is. If they've played well then they'll say it.......hence why Federer maybe comes acrossa arrogant as for 10 years he's consistently played well.
  13. Think Seppi has the potential to cause Andy a few problems today but I don't see it happening. I reckon another straight sets win with maybe a tight set in there. Tsonga or Karlovic in round 4 will be his biggest test yet but the reward for coming through that will be a relatively straightforward QF appt. Looking forward to next Friday already where back to back men's semi finals could be Djokovic v wawrinka then Murray v Federer.......excellent days viewing.
  14. When I used to gamble a bit I would dabble in womens tennis and you would see the most random results. It quickly become obvious women's tennis was a strange and unreliable sport to gamble on. My theory was simple - hormones and periods. I said this to my girlfriend the other night and she called me sexist!! I said to her that surely if in a non team sport if one woman is up against another woman and one is just starting her period and the other one isn't then surely SOMETIMES this has to be an advantage.......I got no response.
  15. I agree that aggression and forcing the play is important but I would say Andy has added this to his game a lot over the past few years particularly in the last year under Mauresmo. Aggressive play doesn't mean a player has to use this tactic all the time, the best players know how to switch play in an instant and use aggression when needed. Haase is a player who on his day can threaten and hit the ball flat and very hard but comes with that with players of his level is more unforced errors, so I would say today if it was needed Andy would have went through the gears and forced the play but in all honesty it wasn't needed. These early rounds of a grandslam are all about doing what is needed and getting through and so far so good.
  16. I'll pass judgement when I watch it later tonight but what more are you wanting from him just now. Seems to me a comfortable performance and doing what is needed at this stage of the tournament.
  17. Implants are definitely not done on the NHS and will cost a minimum 1500 but likely more. Gold crowns are done on the NHS but dentists find themselves in an awkward position and therefore don't offer them. A dentist is paid around £110 under the NHS to provide a gold crown but the dental labs that make them typically charge £85+ to make them, essentially meaning after a dentist pays for materials etc they are running close to break even or even at a loss to provide them.
  18. It's so nice in greenock that Roman Abrahmovic's yacht is sitting anchored out on the Clyde. Pretty impressive if I do say so myself, I'd post a picture but don't know how to on my mobile to this forum.
  19. Nothing to worry about. Upped the gears when needed. I'm sure he'll be a bit more clinical in the next round.
  20. 19 pounds is about right. Sounds like a large NHS amalgam filling?
  21. When you watch British news expect an emphasis on British affairs. It's reasonable for folk to identify with tragedies a bit closer to home. You wouldn't watch the news and similarly expect to hear about government scandals in South Sudan or football results from Bosnia's premier liga.
  22. It's tough but don't think it's too bad, a few years ago it would have been worse. Tsonga is a tough draw for an earlier round though. Djokovic does appear to have a much more straightforward route right enough, avoiding the same half of the draw as Murray, Tsonga, ferrer, Federer, Nadal and berdych, althought there are tricky opponents in his half in the way of dimitrov, wawrinka and raonic. I predict his path will be: R1 - Kukushkin R2 - Haase R3 - Stakhovsky R4 - Tsonga QF - Nadal SF - Berdych F - Djokovic
  23. That's interesting. At the recent Dumbarton 10k I was a tad under the weather and not one of my miles was sub 6.20, yet on Sunday I was never over 6.10 minute miles, yet I was only 12 seconds faster......the course was definitely too long, and I wasn't taking the corners long or anything. Never mind, on to the next one, I'm hammering the interval runs just now in the hope I get down to sub 38 mins.
  24. I think dimitrov could go close again, another player who looks at home on grass. Berdych, wawrinka and Tsonga will also be there or thereabouts. I always fear the worst when Murray plays Djokovic, the last time I felt confident was wimbledon last time around and I feel the same again. But yes, the draw will play a big part.
