The problem with Charlie Adam is he's a guy who quite obviously needs to be featuring every week for his club as otherwise his weight and subsequently fitness suffers drastically. I saw an interview with him last season in which he said he had no interest in leaving Stoke as long as he was guaranteed around 15 starts a season, that shows a massive lack of ambition.

McLean and Shinnie are completely different types of midfielders so it's not really a fair comparison.

There's been some suggestion in other threads that McCormack had previously said he wouldn't travel if not getting a start, I've never seen any proof of this though.

My mistake, I forgot he doesn't play there any more. Id reckon he's even further down the pecking order for a midfield slot.

I thought Maloney looked decent as well on Saturday, I'm sure he'll be back this campaign. Id have had McCormack instead of Martin as irrespective of what Martin is supposed to offer, I can't see it personally. Im not surprised Rhodes didn't make it, McCormack concerns me though, he has a lot to offer but at 30 he's not got long left to make an impression at international level, for one reason or another his Scotland career has never really got going.

So inexplicable that he explained why they didn't make the squad. Maloney needs games, Rhodes and McCormack are obviously similar to Griffiths in his opinion and he's gone for him and well, in the case of Shinnie it's pretty obvious, he's probably 6th choice left back after Robertson, Tierney, Kingsley, Forsyth and Wallace. Agree or not, those are the facts.

I'd agree completely re Fletcher, he's the obvious candidate to replace Brown in the team and as captain and I couldn't blame him if he chucked it if this didn't happen. Wee McGinn is a similar player to how Brown was when was younger(and better)but I think he's another season and a step up away from being able to challenge for a start.

He played for our U21's but tried to switch to SA later in his career. He was born in Johannesburg I think. I saw him as a 17 year old excelling for St Mirren, very surprised he didn't do better with his career.

O Brien and McNamee both looked excellent as youngsters at St Mirren and it was Joe Royle who took them to Blackburn however he lost his job and his successor Souness never fancied either of them. They both had decent spells at Livi though. O Brien was touted for a call up for South Africa which dragged on for ages and eventually never happened.

Didn't realise he was eligible. Is he worth a call up? Never seen him play.

It'll be interesting to see who Strachan goes for as his no 2 since McCall is away.

Surely though if you think he should be replaced you'd have some idea with whom? The SFA are obviously happy for him to continue so won't be selecting a replacement.
