  1. Pretty significant if over 1 in 4 English people voted to leave the UK!...
  2. 100% agree, but stick some seats in a couple of them while we're at it. If a wee country like Norway can have a facility like this surely we could have at the least a more modest version:- Imagine a wild howling day like today, but several thousand fans comfortably indoors, roaring noise under the roof and enjoying a couple of beers in the process. Would be a really memorable day/night out...
  3. I heard the owner of the Braehead ice hockey team on Clyde 1 last night. They seem to be doing really well, attracting decent crowds, but it still costs over 40 quid for a family of 4. It just seems the whole experience is attracting certain people more than the football. For example he said Fife Flyers are pulling in bigger crowds than Raith Rovers!
  4. Well one of the stated aims of the place is to bring through better youngsters. Time will tell if they make they grade at City, but other clubs will certainly benefit from players who don't make it. I agree these facilities are exceptional, but all over England and Wales millions are being spent by clubs on similar, if not as extravagant, developments. Already it's paying dividends, eg. the world's most expensive player is Welsh - FFS who would have believed that!!! And look at the England game the other week, there was a real gulf in quality between the sides that i don't remember being the case back when we played them regularly.
  5. Absolutely incredible facilities. English (and Welsh) football is leaving us trailing behind sadly...
  6. Jimmy Hill was a broadcasting colossus.... ...compared with Ian Wright anyway
  7. It would certainly require a fair whack of investment from government/ associations / corporate sponsors etc. But if we're going to take positive steps into the future then we'll need a certain amount of thinking big. As for the home team, take it in turns. Should be easy enough to work out pro-rata...
  8. As much as I enjoyed Barry Hearn ruffling the SFA/SPFL beaks, he didn't seem to offer many ideas other than getting swallied at the grounds. What suggestions to radically improve our game can we come up with. I'll start the ball rolling - better indoor facilities. And I'd go as far as to say we should have at least one indoor stadium, possibly with a 5-10,000 seating capacity. Throughout the winter months a couple of league matches every week could be played there, I think it could make for a special event for the fans and could pull in more punters than usual....
  9. I think if you surrender it you're liable to pay tax? I know it's not a good idea to make adjustments to them once they start. A real bummer I'd previously had a couple of shorter term endowments that served me well. I guess the magical golden goose was only going to lay a finite number of eggs...
  10. No sign of any snow or dogging in Paisley yet. I might tweet Sean Batty and find out which is more likely...
  11. These days you can take a stab at it, eg. the chap who went down the embankment and caused the train crash...
  12. Certainly I've driven in the past after a pint or so fairly safe that I was under the limit but definitely feeling that I was under the influence. There's no doubt that a small amount can still affect your driving ability, so taking away that temptation is probably a positive move.
  13. Problem is over the same period we've been hammered by inflation. Our monthly mortgage payment is small but we're still saving next to zilch. (Mind you in my old days as a saver I didn't have weans!)...
  14. Probably about 75% of it. Totally disagree with 2 and 12, and not sure about 6 and 7. Decent article though, I like Gerry's stuff.
  15. There's been a lot of experts on this past week and they've been reiterating the fact that your liver processes 1 unit of alcohol per hour, and it's pretty much constant no matter who or what the circumstances are. So if you're fairly sure what you drank the night before it's reasonably straightforward to work out if you're ok to drive. From experience I wouldn't have more than 4 jars on a week night, might cut that back to 3 now...
  16. Not dealing with them is probably the best thing about no longer living in a tenement. Can only imagine they've got worst over the post-crunch period...
  17. My dad was involved in an accident on the A736 north of Irvine back in the 50s. The polis arrived on the scene and gave everyone involved some brandy til the ambulance turned up!
