  2. That's pretty extreme from a Tory, but then Andy MacIver is about as radical a Tory as you can get....
  3. Hopefully not, the more the Unionist vote is sliced up the better...
  4. Tommy Burns for me. The last 25 years at Killie would probably not have happened without him...
  5. Looking at that gig list, they played Glasgow Uni on the night of the England game in 76 so maybe that's where Malcolm got mixed up?...
  6. Hate to pull up Malcolm's memory given his health, but that gig was 3 weeks before the England game (May 20th)... http://www.ac-dc.net/archives/subcategory.php?city_id=191
  7. Absolutely. They have Catholic schools in England but virtually no sectarianism. Same-sex schools do seem to give them problems down there though...
  8. Another ding dong involving Killie. It's certainly not been dull under Gary Locke...
  9. Alex Massie was spot on with that recently:- "The poll reveals something we’ve long suspected: Scotland’s four party system is no more. Instead the country is divided into two blocks, one Unionist and the other Nationalist. The difference is that the Nationalist block is united but the Unionist vote is still split three ways. Good luck organising effective tactical voting in those circumstances." http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/coffeehouse/2015/02/unless-something-changes-soon-scottish-labour-is-doomed/
  10. UFO definitely inspired Spinal Tap, but were also a fine band in their prime. The likes of Iron Maiden stole loads from them as you can see below:-
  11. Chelsea have invited the guy to a game at Stamford Bridge, nice touch... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31554535
  12. The Youngs were a talented bunch. Eldest brother Alex stayed in the UK when the others emigrated to Oz and formed the 60s band Grapefruit. Then next oldest George formed the Easybeats in Australia and went on to write Love Is In The Air. Another link to the north east
  13. Saw Rory at Ayr Piv. Great gig. He was the first artist I saw in concert to subsequently die. One for the Bon Scott thread maybe...
  14. Mind seeing this on telly, I think it was on BBC4? Watched it with jaw agape at the effortlessness of Jeff's playing. As huge a Zeppelin fan as I am, I would put Jeff ahead of Jimmy as a player. Page's biggest strength was in arrangement and production (and riff robbery )
  15. Jimmy's still with us. Been suffering from Alzheimer's for a few years sadly...
  16. Absolutely. Compare with England, they've had a hugely sectarian past, they even went to war over it, but it's now almost non existant there probably due to the fact there's no mass outlet for it (pun not intended)...
  17. Back when it was still well in the future Viz did a feature on "Sex in the year 2000". Among several developments they suggested that crowds of people at the football would have sex celebrating a goal being scored.
