I know, soon as I opened my gob 🙄 Yes, Spain are very good there is no doubt, but we are not giving up and have put a bit of pressure on.

We are doing ok at the moment , they have improved as this half has gone on. It’s a bit mental , and more entertaining than the champions league match on the other side .
  3. He will just keeping hanging on till the media , and the public, get bored. The UK has what it deserves.
  4. Shockeroony. Despite having no doubt this would happen it never fails to amaze me what a fookin spineless cretin this guy is. https://www.scotsman.com/news/politics/douglas-ross-insists-it-wouldnt-be-right-to-remove-boris-johnson-over-partygate-fines-3651331 Heard him on the news talking about the ‘special relationship ‘ Johnson has with Zelensky and so he shouldn’t resign. Wft. Special relationship? Are there no depths these folk will not sink to .
  5. 😂 you are mistaking me for someone who has knowledge of political history. I have never even heard of the second bloke, had to google him 😁 Helena Bonham Carter is his great granddaughter, I hope I can impress someone with that bit of trivia this weekend. Meh, you know what I mean, he will survive cause folk like Douglas Ross will say ‘ the PM knows he was wrong and has apologised and we are in PERILOUS times and we need stability. Blah, blah , blah.
  6. Not a hope in hell of either of them resigning regardless of the details. This Ukraine war will allowed them to be found guilty of partygate thus avoiding accusations of ‘whitewash’, but still hold onto their jobs. Cant lose a PM in war time can we. Another get out of jail free card .
  7. Thanks. That is very true regarding the nuclear waste. I imagine carbon capture would raise the same fears but in time would just be accepted in the same way. Till something goes wrong that is. But I suppose the risk/reward seems beneficial as things stand.
  8. Sorry if I am being completely thick here but how can 80 % of what we produce be exported if the majority goes to RUK ? Will opening this cambo field delay improvements in greener energy much ?? Regarding carbon capture, how safe is this? I am not exactly comfortable with just burrowing co2 into the ground , especially if we start pumping a lot more down there than we currently do ? Surely there must be ways for it to escape, especially if there is a build up. What large scale studies have been done ? I know nothing at all about hydrogen technologies. A quick read suggests a lot of positives , but as usual the cost is a major factor, along with storage. Green hydrogen typically 10 times more expensive than grey hydrogen. I cant see that increasing greatly overnight , though Japan seem to be ahead of the pack on it. I know a lot of folk on here will know a bit about all this but I am sure there are folk like me that need educated.
  9. Yeah but fish, cheese and whiskey are not really essential in the same way oil is ( well arguably whiskey is to some people 🙂 I know how global markets work but surely if there is a shortfall then we export less to ensure we have enough. I realise contracts need to be fulfilled but trade deals change. I thought in our new Global Britain we were supposed to have more control over trade…… I am struggling to see the argument for developing this site unless someone tells me there is no way other forms of energy will be available in the timeline it will take to produce the oil. And more oil is not a guarantee that prices will fall, there are numerous ways the oil sector can manipulate the cost of oil. If the Stop Cambo link is to believed it wont even bring a huge jobs influx and the companies are getting massive tax breaks. I am happy to be corrected here , I am just trying to see both sides.
  10. Why are we importing it if we are exporting 80% of what is produced? And what are the answers to my timeline questions and where this extra oil will go ?
  11. I am pretty certain they are claiming cheaper oil and gas. But that aside, how do timelines of oil extraction compare to us being in a position to produce enough green energy to guarantee sufficient supply ? Is there a huge time difference ? Will there never be a time where green energy will be sufficient? Who will benefit from the oil and gas, ie who will it be sold to and who will financially benefit? I am not against oil extraction if this site will provide a necessary buffer and be directed to the right areas, but I would be against it if it was being sold to countries who are doing fook all to reduce their carbon footprint. Call me naive but I think its a bit more than securing supply.
  12. 😂😂 he is actually quite similar. Might be Ramy’s brother infiltrating us from the Far East. I dont like the look of those eyes . He is thinking’ shut the fook up ya stupid cow’ .
  13. I am not particularly educated on the oil/gas situation but my understanding is the UK government are selling idea the extraction of more gas and oil in the UK will make fuel cheaper for us. Am i right ? If so , what is the point if the below is correct? And how long are we talking before oil is extracted? ‘’Tessa Khan, director of environmental group Uplift, said on Friday that the key to lower fuel bills was renewable energy. She said: "Cambo's oil passing from one set of investors to another makes no difference: it is still in private hands and will be sold to the highest bidder, with most of the oil going abroad. "Eighty percent of the UK's oil is exported. This isn't our oil. It won't lower our bills. All that's changed is that a different set of investors will get rich." Caroline Rance, from Friends of the Earth Scotland, said increasing UK oil and gas production would not protect consumers or alleviate the climate emergency. "The new owners of Cambo will be desperate to profit from their billion-pound gamble meaning that they will be hellbent on selling any oil they might extract to the highest international bidder," she said. "Ithaca would take the profits but the public would bear the risk." Philip Evans, from Greenpeace, said the UK government should be "doubling down" on renewable energy and "tackling the huge amount of energy waste in the UK".
  14. Forget thplinth, I think we just found the board’s Russian infiltrator. You would make a good bond villain Ramy. No, I think I can safely say I have never considered a baldy.
  15. Meh, aren’t we all. Its no easy though when a pint of lager is suddenly cheaper than a pint of milk 😁
  16. That is bad news for the farmers, the supermarkets will not get away with it for much longer I wouldn’t think . I get Hello Fresh delivered for 4 meals a week it is starting to look like a very cost effective way to eat. Dont want to derail the thread ( though I already have..) but my brother put in offers for 4 flats recently before he got one and he only got that as the top bid pulled out and he was next. Everything is going to closing dates. My daughter has put in offers of 20% over the home valuation report for 2 different houses in the last 2 weeks. Got none. One of them was a 3 bed mid terraced house in Barrhead. 20 offers went in , think the sellers got over £300k for it on a valuation of £245k . Crazy, and as you say, will end up in disaster.
  17. I was speaking to a corporate customer in agri yesterday, was talking about the cost of fuel and he was saying the fuel is just the tip of the iceberg, and things are going to get very painful. Fertiliser has gone from £ 275 a tonne a year ago to £900 a tonne. Miling wheat used for bread has doubled in a year and milk is likely to double in price soon too. Bread and milk are staple items , it will literally be putting millions of people on the breadline, or into real poverty. Meanwhile the property market is off the scale. People paying 20-30 % over the value of a house to secure it. Not related to Ukraine of course but this general combination of high prices is going to end up in disaster.
  18. Tidys Top Tip : watch Mrs Maisel when you have had a bevvy to get the full effect . Its not the same on a Monday night 😊 Succession is fantastic.
  19. I am now halfway through series 2 and enjoying it. I am more used to the main character now and quite like her despite the fact her character is supposed to be a comedienne and I don’t her particularly funny at all. Whereas I find her manager Susie , and her dad, both very funny. Its an unusual programme and think it will probably be marmite. Its like musical theatre on TV and wont work for everyone, but I am a bit of a succour for glamorous 1950’s type fashion and the music . Might be worth trying again but if you are still not enjoying it by the end of series 1 probably best binning it. Other programmes I have quite enjoyed are Your Honour and Dopesick, they have probably been already mentioned on here. Michael Keaton is very good in Dopesick. Michael Stuhlbarg , the actor who plays Richard Sackler, also plays a main role in Your Honour. I cannot decide if his acting in both programmes is really good or really shit.
  20. Exactly ! 😉 Yes, I would expect the metal door mat to be thrown in after such a significant purchase. If not I will just use a shelf from my oven. I need to economise with all the additional lighting costs involved 😁
  21. Oh there is plenty of crime , but only if you have something worth nicking . Once i have purchased these pots I will become a target so I canny take any chances. About 20 years ago we bought a big house, it really was way over what we could afford and needed loads done to it as an old couple had owned it. There were loads of rooms and we had no furniture for them. When I phoned to insure the buildings and contents the insurance company did not believe we could have so few contents in a house of that value. They thought we were undervaluing our contents and sent someone out to check . Most folk have to show proof that they own an expensive item in order to insure it, we had to prove we had fook all . I was off work sick the day the insurance guy came and was in bed. Mr Tidy was showing him round the house and when he got outside our bedroom door he explained to the guy that he couldn’t go in the room. Just as he was walking away I heard him say to the guy , ‘ its a pity you cant go in as this room displays our finest collection of Faberge eggs and Van Goghs . 😁 Needless to say we sold the house a couple of years later.
  22. 😂😂 Cannot believe I missed this thread. I will take 2 , and one of the garden sheds. The one with the padlock , I dont want any of you thieving bassas stealing my pots.
  23. There was , however , no need. There were alternatives.
  24. How on earth they cant have thought about it is beyond me. It was the first thing I thought of. Whilst I will be delighted if Ukraine are in a position to play the game in June it puts us at a complete disadvantage for the Wales game if we win. I think the Wales/Austria should have been moved too.
