  1. Thats a bit simplistic. Much as I hate them, I am wearing a mask on transport and in supermarkets as the NHS is continuing to see high numbers of staff and patients affected by this. They are already under a massive strain due to back logs , you have no idea who the people are sitting next to you on the train or standing in the supermarket queue. They could be a nurse in a loved one’s ICU ward, or in a care home. It requires very little effort to wear a mask, it takes a lot more effort to keep a Respitatory patient alive. People are moaning about never getting a doctors appointment or their delayed hospital appointment, but are willing to discard their mask at the first opportunity. Unlike Ally I dont think people not wearing masks are cunts, but I do have an unspoken respect for the people that are making the effort to wear them. https://www.bmj.com/content/377/bmj.o981 Staffing problems On 12 April some 20 032 patients were in UK hospitals with covid, including 378 patients in ventilation beds.2Admissions seem to have peaked around 29 March. In England 1792 patients were admitted to hospital with covid on 12 April, down 15% on a week earlier. Health services continue to experience staffing problems, with almost 200 000 NHS staff absent because of covid in a single week.3
  2. That would be the answer. Problem is not all right wing people think like you. Far too many fall into the ‘I’m allright Jack’ category and are happy sticking with the UK whilst we have a never ending Tory government. I totally understand people being worried about the financial risk involving independence but the truth is too many people who are well aware of the riches Scotland hold are far too tied up in short termism to protect their own interests. Again , nothing wrong at all with wanting to protect your money and assets, but these very people are willing to chuck their life savings onto the stock market to increase their bank balance but somehow think Scottish Independence is too risky. Truth is they just cannot be arsed unless there is something in it for them. Thats where a right wing independence party would be very useful.
  3. I genuinely believe an independent Scotland could bring a fresh political outlook in Scotland and provide choices that do not exist at present. Nothing will ever change in the UK. Tories and Labour will never ever vote to change FPTP , its like the political equivalent of the Old Firm. But to unlock those choices you are going to have to hold your nose to help obtain independence .
  4. Wtf. I dont even know the know the rules of cricket but can guarantee this is utter shite. Think this tweet covers it.
  5. Consumer confidence at its lowest level since 2008, and second lowest level since records began 50 years ago. Retail sales drop 1.4 % against an expected 0.3%. Pound tumbles. https://www.ft.com/content/5e15eaaf-e987-4263-979c-81330035b152
  6. I put my additional energy saving practices in the ‘other ‘ box because, as you say, you could only choose one option. .
  7. 😂 the first time I read it I thought that is what you were meaning, but then I thought Malcolm must be winding me up and I was the fish for not recognising this. FFS it’s just as well I dont play poker, I would be the fish’s fish 😁
  8. Seriously, anyone trying to compare the 2 situations has reached desperate measures and I would think any neutral person would see that. Talking of masks, there is marked drop in folk wearing them on my trains since Monday’s rule change. I would say at peak commute times there was about 70-75% adherence over the last few weeks, probably about 10-15% now.
  9. Meh, dont be so smart, I dont know if I have been whooshed, If i am a fish, or if Malcolm’s a fish 😁 Either way there is no amount of money you could pay me to work in the City.
  10. My recollection is mainly of overpaid wankers guffawing at how much money they have made.
  11. I struggle to see how anyone can realistically see, from a Scotland perspective, any real positives here. There is nothing wrong at all in being frustrated at the situation we are in. I think we have been shafted big time and been expected to suck it up and shut up due to the bigger issues affecting Ukraine. No one is going to be interested in Scotland greetin about having 5 games in 13 days. If we do qualify and perform well in the nations league games it will be a feat of gargantuan proportions. Got to hope though and get fully behind the team.

Good post 👍 And I would like to add that anything that can make my husband smile mid week and without 4 pints of Leffe has to be doing something right.

The speed is something I find quite amusing . Even though some of them are fast it takes them longer to get up the pitch as their strides are shorter. I am sitting there thinking ‘ ffs go a bit faster’ my wee legs are moving back an forwards under the couch trying to speed them up 😁 Its a wee bit different to watch and I quite like it. Kudos to you for the effort to get there on a shit Tuesday night 👍

Looks like it improved in the second half, I am just a bit fed up seeing the same teams every week and entertainment is not always guaranteed. I quite enjoyed watching the women, you are not getting the same quality of course but last nights game did not turn out to be the thrashing I expected and we had a few chances..
  17. Just reading some of the other sensational Jersey news within the link Jimmy . You may need to shave off that ginger beard. https://www.channel103.com/news/jersey/phone-smashed-in-road-rage-outburst/
  18. Wft, sojers and everything on the front page . The Mail is so predictable I could write their headlines myself.
  19. Dammit, you get back to the football section I had been hoping to impress you with my Helena Bonham Carter trivia and you have now spoiled it 😡
  20. ‘Boris Johnson is a truthful man’ …. said no one ever.. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/prime-minister-boris-johnson-douglas-ross-rishi-sunak-ukraine-b994095.html?amp
  21. No the first half wasn’t particularly great. Husband was watching it and when I saw it was 1-3 on aggregate I said to him why not turn it over to the Bayern game, as I thought Real had it in the bag . Lasted 10mins then he noticed Chelsea had scored so turned it back. Wasnt that great so I said we could try the Scotland woman’s game. It was 0-1 and Scotland were coming back and I posted on another thread that we were doing quite well. Next second Spain has scored a second. I think next time I will just keep my mouth shut 😁
  22. 😂 I just said on another thread how boring it was. I switched over at half time to the Scotland woman’s game. Scoreline suggests it got better ….

Personally I would rather watch the women play than Chelsea for the umpteenth time tbh.
