  1. Bang your head a lot when you fell out of them then?
  2. Presumably you didn't have a problem when Rangers didn't sign Catholics.
  3. The story with Whittingdale was really about *why* the newspapers weren't printing the story. I agree with you that a single man having a relationship with a single woman is of no interest, the key thing though was given that it's not stopped the press reporting similar relationships why not report that one especially as once it broke, they were all over it.
  4. I doubt she'll do any of that. Deputy Leader is elected by the membership, deputy leader at Westminster is elected by the MPS there - and he along with the rest of the leadership group were re-elected on Tuesday night after the story broke. Finally, on the Indy2 front, I'd be surprised if this wasn't known about before he was announced in that role. i doubt he'll be removed from any role, of course he could stand down if it's felt the publicity from this is getting in the way but I suspect this will be yesterday's news pretty quickly. If there's anything more to this, then the Sunday's will have kept something back, if not then it'll die out pretty quickly.
  5. Jackson Carlaw doesn't seem to mind stepping into the gutter.
  6. Apparently his wife is fighting cancer so that may be a genuine case of wanting to step back. Alex Neil has "resigned" as well.
  7. If this was going to come out, then now is probably the best time. Will also distract from the inevitable sackings that will come in today's reshuffle.
  8. I think you are vastly overestimating the number of fvcks the majority of Scottish football gives about East Stirling.
  9. It was Jeanette Findlay - she was one of the "expert" guests they have lined up for the whole show. Martin Hannan from the National was representing the other side of the argument. Some other women called in - supposedly a random concerned punter - but she let the cat out of the bag by referring to FAC as "we" and "us". There may have been other partisan callers who were incognito, it was Call Kaye after all.
  10. It's rarely clear as press reports tend not to mention what someone's exact charge and under which legislation, they'll mention what someone has actually done and what the sentence is. I had a quick google and found a few cases of people being convicted of smoke bomb offences - including the squaddie from Motherwell - and this was the only one which mentioned an actual charge, culpable and reckless conduct in this case. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-27945677 Of course it would be in the best interests of those opposing the act to muddy the waters.
  11. Saw a statement from the guy earlier. He's retired ex-Met Police and was involved in this sort of work there. It sounds like a one man band operation. Following this, I suspect he'll be retired from that as well.
  12. There's a lot of misinformation flung around in respect of the act itself and how Police Scotland have been policing football in Scotland recently. I don't believe the act gives the police any new powers. Kettering would be covered by a different bill - in England it's section 14 of the public order act, I don't know the equivalent Scots legislation - and that's been used widely for years both against football fans, protestors and "unruly" crowds. Arresting people for smoke bombs is similarly covered by separate legislation. I don't think a smoke bomb can be considered offensive. Whether or not the police have used the act as an excuse to "get tough" with football fans is up for debate but any problem there is in police policy, not the act itself.
  13. I pretty much agree with you, but when criticising the SFA and SPFL for their inaction, remember that they are only the representatives of their members. When the SFA/SPFL tried to introduce strict liability for domestic games it was voted down by the clubs - pretty sure it was virtually unanimous - UEFA have strict liability in respect of their games, that is why you see clubs punished for fans behaviour.
  14. She had a long history of mental issues stemming from child abuse, but hey, if you think that's funny...
  15. Fake bomb left behind from a training exercise. Cock up of major proportions.
  16. Pretty much, I don't think that replacing what is pretty much a ceremonial head of state with one that was elected would really make a huge difference in reality - that said if it was on offer I'd vote for a republic. I'd say getting rid of the House of Lords who actually make legislation would make a much more substantial difference in terms of democracy. I just don't think its a fight worth having if it would have a negative effect on support for independence, which it would. It boils down to is would you rather have an independent Scotland with a monarch as head of state or be part of the Republic of Great Britain? I know what I'd prefer. Given that the monarchy is of no real interest to me, I'm sure I could live with it.
  17. I think the reality is that as long as the current queen is alive, no sensible politician would go anywhere near the subject. Pretty sure that I saw a quote from Corbyn around the time he was getting slaughtered for not singing GSTQ to the effect of "I'm a republican but it's not a battle I'm going to fight" It'd be a bit like suggesting that heroine should be legalised and regulated, a perfectly sensible and logical viewpoint but one for which you would get absolutely slaughtered. It would be political suicide. In the grand scheme of things it's pretty low down the list.
  18. Actual quote is "most people in the SNP - it will hardly be a surprise to you - would at some point like to see the head of state elected but for the purposes of independence we said we'd keep the queen as head of state"
  19. Allegedly, I'm one of them. Nice to see you want rid of me.
  20. I read that as an audience that was representative of UK opinion on the EU rather than Scottish opinion *but* it would be an audience of people who live in Scotland.
  21. BBC - no idea if it's just Scotland though. - edit sounds like it might be UK-wide. http://order-order.com/2016/05/13/farage-and-sturgeon-set-for-head-to-head-bbc-debate/
