  1. To be clear, I wasn't talking about the "Jeremy Corbyn compares Israel to ISIS" story from earlier, which was total bollocks and has been debunked.
  2. Don't say I'm not good to you. Turns out it was the girl from Trembling Bells on vocals. https://www.youtube.com/embed/-SLC-iHpnxI
  3. Labour press conference to publish report in to anti-Semitism in the Labour Party. Anti-semitic remarks made towards a Jewish MP who was present. Corbyn stands by and does nothing. You couldn't make this sort of stuff up. If it was an idea pitched for the Thick of It, then it would have been rejected for being too far fetched.
  4. I know what you mean - and she is my MP! And no, I didn't vote for her.
  5. It's pretty difficult to call now election now under the fixed term parliament act. They'd have to either repeal that - which would take time - or there would have to be a vote of no confidence. You can't fake a vote of no confidence just to force the election. The only parties who want an election now are UKIP and the Lib Dems who account for 9 MPs. Had it been a remain vote then I suspect that a large number of Tory rebels would have tried to force through a vote of no confidence and we would have had the bizarre possibility of Labour abstaining to protect the Tory government.
  6. Probably the most right wing member of the panel.
  7. And of course, that will be how he will be remembered for all time.
  8. Pretty sure Barmy Army is already trademarked.
  9. SNP to request today that Angus Robertson be appointed leader of the opposition on the basis that he has the support of more opposition MPs than Corbyn.
  10. I think that's going either be Jock McDonnell, Jeremy Comyn or Diane Abbotsinch.
  11. If there is a backlash, it should be against Strachan and his "we've got not world class players, what can we be expected to do" pish.
  12. Scunnered has been a bit quiet, has he been offered the Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland job?
  13. So you don't think the bit about "the natural athleticism of their ethnicity" is in the least bit dodgy?
  14. Alternatively, the timing couldn't be better - get out while you still can.
  15. Angela Eagle now gone. It's moving past the Blairites.
  16. That's an interesting parallel, although in de Valera's case it was about eliminating - literally as it turned out - a rival and protecting his own position. For Cameron it's revenge pure and simple.
  17. That explains it. I missed the support band. As a result of the rain, it took me about 2 hours to drive up - should've been about an hour.
  18. He was the front runner when Miliband resigned but dropped out pretty quickly and in strange circumstances. He mentioned that he wasn't prepared for the level of media intrusion to his family. Makes me think there is some big skeleton in his closet somewhere.
  19. You mean the Horse with the Arab Strap ? Bonkers is certainly a word to describe it. I thought so but it was really down to the material, rather than the performance which was excellent on both nights, so if you preferred the songs from Wednesday, you'd probably have thought that was the better night. I prefer Tigermilk too, although I do think If You're Feeling Sinister is great as well so Wednesday was good for that. The "second" set on Thursday was IMHO much better as I preferred more of the songs. As said Boy with the Arab Strap was about 100 times madder than Wednesday although I did think it was a nice move getting the two "cover stars" up on stage. For me though, it was LLPJ that made the difference, still trying to work out who it was that did the female vocals, she sounded a lot like Monica Queen but it clearly wasn't her.
  20. That's completely true, I think the only people to make that point with any regularity were the SNP. They of course could do that - at least as far as Westminster is concerned - as they are not implicated and a cynic might say they have plenty of practice in blaming Westminster. You're hardly likely to get Tory or Labour Politicians on the Remain side lining up to say "you know what, I know we've been blaming the EU for all this for years but actually it was us that ####ed it up. Sorry about that, can you now vote for us".
  21. I agree with pretty much all of that. Especially the part about it being a minority of people who voted leave that are racist - although we might have to argue about the definition of "tiny" is. I saw a great quote on Twitter last night which I think is so true. I'm genuinely concerned about how this will work out for England, not so much for the EU aspects - as I don't think the UK will "leave" the EU in any meaningful terms - but more internally, especially when leavers start to realise that what they thought they were voting for isn't achievable. Lots and lots of reports of low-level racist activity across the country since Friday and it remains to be seen whether this is similar to George Square where the knuckledraggers felt empowered by the result but crawled back under their stones of it's something more serious. I'm not going to predict Armageddon or anything but England's green and pleasant land feels a whole lot less pleasant than it did last week.
