  1. Aye, and no just a quick splash and rush job, a proper technically correct handwash.
  2. Packers and the Pats on the handicap for me. Won money on Seattle last week but a better team might have done them. Packers offense might just have enough.
  3. Go to 'souvlaki street'. It's just off Monastiraki Square and has rows of souvlaki/kebab joints, all with tables lining the pedestrian street, all rammed with locals. Cheap street food and drinks. My own favourite is thanasis.
  4. I sincerely hope that the slight shoogle yesterday was not the start of the wheels coming off of a certain bandwagon..........
  5. I don't see you criticising any female players. That's you being sexist now as well. You could be off the board for a good 6 months at this rate.
  6. I loved Athens. It can be a bit of a culture shock in terms of graffiti etc in some areas but it's not unlike Glasgow in that some of the outer edges of the city centre are a bit run down, and best avoided by tourists. If you stick to the main part of the city centre, but avoid the Omonia area at night, you will be fine. Plenty of people on the streets late at night enjoying food and drink, but very little (or none!) public drunk issues. We stayed at the A for Athens hotel, just off Monastiraki Square, where the Metro station is - direct line to the airport. It was brilliant, and had a super cool rooftop bar with amazing Acropolis views. As stated above, Lycabettus Hill for the views is worthwhile, but the highlight for me was the Archeological Museum. It's very modern and design-cool and contains, well, everything you would expect ! In May, I would recommend you plan to have lunch there as part of your day - they have an outdoor terrace facing the Parthenon. We had a great time just wandering around Monastiraki, Plaka, Syntagma areas, and that was all pushing the wee man in a 20 euro stroller ! We jumped on the wee land train for a rest half way through the first day and cos he loves trains, but it turned out to be a great thing to do from an orientation point of view. It gave us a real idea of how the city was laid out and ideas for where we wanted to walk around. Always thought these things were a bit too touristy/tacky unless you had kids, but I would do this again anywhere to get a general idea of a city. Loved the food. Loved the people. Learn a few 'good manners' words - please, thank you, hello at least. Milate Anglika is really useful (Do you speak English ?) I have seen Greeks be really unhelpful to English speakers who make no effort, but the same people respond to milate anglika with a big smile and perfect Engish ! I suppose it's a respect thing....... I really hope you enjoy Athens. It can come as a shock when you see the graffiti etc but give it a chance and you will find stuff to really enjoy.
  7. We did a mini rail break to Toulouse, Carcasonne, and Montpellier a couple of years ago, and loved Montpellier. Some brilliant restaurants and bars, wee windy streets with lots of great shopping (so says my Mrs), and generally lots of nice people very receptive to a wee bit of effort at le local lingo. Highlight was a wine bar/bistro called Chez Boris. We spent a rainy lunch/afternoon in there and had some outstanding food and accompanying wine by the glass being recommended. Defo going back.
  8. Going by her unflattering mugshot, I would suggest that a wash and a wee bit of make-up would have have most of the board doon on it like a dug wi a burst ba.
  9. I've gone from a 7 to a 9. Red/pink all the way through but no blood and hot all the way through as well. Lovely and soft, really tasty, looks like an advert. If I knew how I would post a picture.
  10. Well it turned out brilliantly if I do say so myself. Much improved the flavour and texture of the beef over my old heavy skillet, although I did use it at the end to cook the steaks on a high heat with butter to get that nice colour and caramelisation effect on the outsides. One hour at a constant 56 degrees in the slow cooker. Served with dauphinoise potatoes and green beans. Fresh mussels starter (moules marinieres) - the mussels are excellent right now - fishmonger says they are from off the Fife coast. Cream meringues from the baker in the Ferry as a dessert. Spanish wines, a Verdeho and a Rioja, and a wee Courvoisier before bedtime. Quite chuffed with myself and now on detox after our New Year blowout .
  11. Had a wee experiment before just with a pan of hot water and a pre sealed pack from the butcher. Went down really well with the Mrs. She has travelled on business to Italy often and was a bit reluctant to go for rare or medium rae based on some 'bloody' examples - she was a 'medium' girl here. Managed a convertion though - the sous vide method worked. Perfectly cooked through and hot, but still red and moist. I thought it was a bit over cooked though so hopefully tonight it will be perfect. Moules marinieres to start.
  12. So I'm on my 4 day New Year break that you all got last week, and I'm using my new thermometer and crockpot to sous vide 2 sirloins I just sealed in my Vacuum sealing gizmo - eat yer heart out Heston. Anyone else au fait with sous vide ?
  13. Can't help myself. Background noise most of the time as I am busy feeding/cleaning/chasing my 2 yr and 3 yr old ! Started listening as they had Alan Stubbs on, and Brazil said cheerio to him and then made his comment about top 2 go up. Shoddy from Uncle Jock Brazil.
  14. Top 2 go up, according to Alan Brazil on Talksport this morning.
  15. Quite right. Nice to see a Killie player, Craig Slater, showing some respect and decorum after scoring at St. Mirren yesterday, having left as they wouldnae play him. Oh, wait ..........
  16. Tempted. Sky treble 5/2 for City, Liverpool, Newcastle.
  17. Rules ? Are we doing categories ? Seem to remember the scoring was death age subtracted from 100. What about one each from : Sport Politics/Public Life TV and Entertainment Music Any other
  18. Nice wee lift overnight which will mean some pocket money for my 4 days off next week Working another 4 nightshifts until my wee break. Volunteered as last year the kids were in bed by 7 as usual and we were in bed by 10pm ! Sleeping . Anyway, 20 on the Golden State Warriors v 76ers to be between 210-220. It was at 209 with one second left and a boy drained a 3 pointer . 70 back. Banked 65 and stuck 5 on Wellington Phoenix to win 3-1 this morning away at Adelaide at 33-1, as my old neighbour from Stewarton, Ernie Merrick, has them flying. Cheers Ernie for my 170 back ! So 220 now banked. Phoenix scored the 3rd with 15 seconds to go when the Adelaide keeper came up for his second corner in injury time and has a header cleared off the line, then gets back just in time for a young lad on his birthday to slip it past him for 3-1. Was going fecking Tonto jumping around the kitchen ! How come betting isn't always so much fun ?
