I watched the extended highlights against St Johnstone on Alba (great show, 2 fifty minute highlights per weekend), anyway Souttar looked good but not involved enough. O'Halloran was impressive.
I think he's still an asset, but he's very much a form player. Economy of movement is not really in his locker so he may struggle with age. I'm hopeful McGinn and Macleod will be our '2' in the 4-2-3-1 formation, but maybe not in the next campaign. Souttar may also be in with a shout but he's still very much potential at this stage.
Great result. Seemingly we were all over Slovenia and got hit with a sucker punch. I think some of this group has the potential to make the step up. I hope we don't have to wait 5 years.
From my experience, stereotypes aside, the Irish are healthier, more confident, better educated and have a more collective sense of nationhood than us. The fact that they play rugby, Gaelic football and hurling is probably more of a help than a hindrance.
McKay wasn't terrible. His first time passing was good, he just didn't take on his man. I said earlier somewhere, he's never a winger, but he's potentially a very good attacking central midfielder.
I'll be very surprised if McGinn doesn't go on to be a £10M player. I'm so relieved to see a player like that emerge. A big lad with great ability and determination.
