He is, for me, worse than Levein and Berti.
Berti didn't have anything like the talent (Although reasonably limited) Strachan has to choose from.
Levein, I think, might have even got us closer to qualifying from this group.
Just go now Gordon...
Strachan in the paper again today;
Gordon Strachan warns that Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths faces a difficult task, on account of his smaller stature, to work his way into the starting line-up for the World Cup qualifier against England at Wembley next month. In Scotland's two recent matches Strachan opted for more physical players up front - Steven Fletcher and Chris Martin. The Scotland boss says, "You need to have a certain amount of height in international football teams to defend set plays". (Herald)
Is he just trying to wind us up now!?!?
Well you won't need three of your more creative attacking prospects in a game you have to get something out of but having a back up to your back up goalie on the bench is essential.
We know we aren't favourites. There are a few here who still think criticism of Strachan = If someone else was in charge we would qualify.
That isn't whats being said. We can improve and give the fans more to cheer about without qualifying.
On current showing we may end up 5th in this group.
Need to take into account how poor a squad Vogts had after retirals and Brown's insistance on picking guys about 30 for the majority of his years in charge - Was light years behind the team we have now even.
Frustrating comment from him last night "We need to find a system that works". Well, err, obviously, we should have tried different systems, some young players and formation variations in friendlies. What a tattie he is, honestly...
It is this managers fault.
these players could get to a tournament with a better manager who can change tactics, pick a team better and set us up to get results when they're needed.
