  1. Yeah, I don’t get it. I forgot Taylor was included. Another explanation for Gauld is that he hasn’t actually watched him which would be really disappointing.
  2. I watched Gauld tonight. He's genuinely so good. Created so many chances for himself and others against a good Braga team. He's levels above his team mates. Still can't believe Clarke didn't call him up. It was a massive oversight picking too many centre backs and not Gauld in the March fixtures.
  3. I think they’re similar in quality. Palmer also gives a bit of versatility, has played centre back and left back this season too. Clarke could probably leave out a centre back if he chooses Palmer. https://streamja.com/A0Bwd Some goal. Didn’t think Paterson had this in him.
  4. It was their decision to start each of them, if they thought Tierney or Robertson were injury risks/had played too many games then they shouldn't have played. Can't blame it on Scotland. Some England players were left out of their club's starting 11s after playing on Wednesday. Stones, Chilwell, Mount.
  5. Of course you can change. Changing your opinion, listening to others and taking opposing opinions on board is healthy. I’m saying that it’s likely that your original bias against him is probably distorting your opinion on him.
  6. Not sure if someone who stated, due to non-footballing reasons, that they might 'throw the towel in' and might 'chuck posting on here' if Adams started/was on the bench against Austria qualifies as having a unbiased opinion.
  7. We have a 0% chance of getting into the play offs via the nations league unfortunately. If we had won against either against Israel or Slovakia we'd very very likely already have a play off spot. Those were much worse results than these two.
  8. True, I thought he was back playing with Motherwell but see that has just been on the bench. Think it’ll be Tierney, McKenna, Hanley then.
  9. I think it’ll be close to that but I reckon he’ll start Hanley at RCB and play Gallagher in the middle. Had forgotten that Marshall has been injured. Still think he’ll start for us on Thursday. Agree with the rest, although I think it’ll be a close call between Fraser/Christie and Armstrong. Dykes over Adams seems likely. He’ll maybe get 20mins and look to start him against Israel.
  10. He's doing it to wind people up/attention seeking. His posting style reminds me of TalkSport (Adrian Durham etc). Likes to mix up popular opinions with ones that provoke reactions, then repeats the ones that get reactions multiple times over. Not forgetting the arrogance that he delivers these opinions with.
  11. I also remember there were quotes from Lyndon Dykes before he was called up noting that if he had the choice he’d choose Australia. He obviously changed his mind, seems we were lucky we called him up at the right time.
  12. There's a lot of love for Dykes from QPR fans on twitter tonight too. Seems promising. Also interesting that he played up front as part of a pairing. I think Clarke might try Dykes and Adams together at some point.
  13. I don’t see why he couldn’t make room for Gauld and Turnbull. Clarke has said he didn’t choose them because the players ahead of them are Armstrong, Christie and Fraser. No one was expecting these guys to be dropped but there’s more than enough scope to include Gauld and Turnbull in the squad. Especially because he’s not had a chance to see either in training. These are two guys who could genuinely make a difference creatively for Scotland in the future. Gauld has been brilliant this season. Turnbull has shown massive potential. We don’t need Considine in the squad. We also don’t need Taylor or Fleck/McLean and McBurnie. There is more than enough cover from guys that can play various positions. If there are a couple of injuries then call one of them up. Gauld and Turnbull will now very likely need to wait at least until midway through the World Cup qualifying campaign. And Clarke will probably still be trying to keep a consistent squad... It’s a pretty big oversight in my opinion.
  14. He hasn’t decided he is Scottish. He qualifies as Scottish (and qualified as soon as he was born) and it seems like he wants to play for us according to reports. And is clearly well within the rules. I don’t mind the ‘I need more time to make my decision’ for guys that qualify for 2 countries and in Adams’ case 3 countries. Particularly when we, like Clarke has done, ask these players that haven’t made a final decision to make contact with the manager when they have made their mind up. He wasn’t saying ‘I’m English’ during the qualifiers. You’ve just made that up to exaggerate your argument. You don’t have a clue what he has considered when making this decision. Why just right him off making your own assumptions? At least wait until he’s officially called up and you hear interviews with Clarke and Adams.
  15. Great news if true. Genuinely a class striker. Clarke said these players would had to contact him first. As far as I am aware mum is half Scottish, half English and his dad is Caribbean.
  16. Yeah seems Marshall’s injury isn’t as bad as feared. Wonder if Derby will look to come to some agreement with Scotland to not play him in all 3 games.
  17. McKenna back from injury and captains Forest today. Marshall is on Derby’s bench. As is Dykes for QPR...
  18. Dismissing his ability over one mistake is bizarre. If Gordon had come out and claimed the cross or if Griffiths had closed down the man crossing you would have forgotten about it. Players make mistakes all the time. He’s obviously good enough for Scotland.
  19. Bit of an over the top reaction. He can play for us and Clarke has said the door is open for him.
  20. But that’s his job? You don’t want a player asked to do his role to be giving the ball away in his half or in the attacking half with no covering midfielders behind. I was responding to a comment where he was described as a player who gave the ball away too often. He needs to let guys like McGinn and Christie to try riskier passes. And is obviously asked by his manager to keep it relatively simple for both Scotland and Celtic. I don’t think he’s definitely in our best first 11 at the moment but he’s neither a guy that gives the ball away too often or a guy who keeps it too simple. I thought his best game for us was against Serbia where he was perfectly balanced offensively and defensively. He’s not been brilliant for Celtic but neither has their whole squad.
  21. That’s just not true. McGregor is our midfielder with the highest passing accuracy for club and country. He also mixes this up with riskier passes than Jack and only dribbles when it’s safe. His failings as a defensive midfielder is his tackling, lack of closing down shots and tracking runners. That’s why Jack would need to play next to him. He’s more or a creative defensive midfielder whose probably best when we play sides or similar ability to us or weaker. For the likes of the England game I’d definitely want McTominay and Jack as the centre mids.
  22. It’s so difficult to compare because our strikers play in different quality of leagues. In the premier league if you can score close to 10 goals you are a very good player, especially if you play for a bottom 10 club and if you’re primary job is to hold the ball up. Realistically McBurnie would be looking at a target of 8 goals. Obviously he’s miles off that but he’s been injured and Sheffield United have generally been poor. He’s had a poor season but it doesn’t make him a terrible player. His Championship goal scoring record is very good, he’s not lost that ability. He’s not looked great for Scotland either but he’s had few starts and cameo appearances. He’s also hit the woodwork 3(?) times for Scotland. I think he sneaks into the squad. But only because our other strikers are also having poor seasons. Would love for Shankland to be on for 20 goals or Nisbet to have continued his form this year.
  23. That line up is a possibility but there’s no chance Armstrong would play behind McGinn if you’re not playing Jack too.
  24. Good player but not good enough for our squad without a few injuries. Same as Fulton and Bannan.
  25. Hope it’s not too bad. And also hope that his injury contributed to him letting this go in... https://streamable.com/7wtji4
