  1. If Schoemann hadn't committed an unnecessary foul we'd have stretched the lead early in the second half and it would have been difficult for Italy to come back. I think Townsend's time is up, who replaces him, no idea.
  2. I know comments have been made already but it's probably worth opening up a separate thread just to work out what's going on.
  3. Exciting last two minutes but disappointing result. On form the Irish will beat us and in spite of beating England this will be judged overall a poor Six Nations performance.
  4. Not looking good
  5. I note the woman who oversaw the Newcastle takeover says she reckons a Saudi team will be in the Champions League sooner rather than later. Money talks.

Both look uninspiring. I'm gobsmacked people actually get paid to come up with some of these designs. But we all have different opinions.
  7. Repeat a lie enough times and people will believe it, we really are in Goebbels territory with this level of dishonesty.
  8. Same thought crossed my mind. Undoubtedly if it had been an SNP minister in Westminster or Holyrood the normal culprits would be baying for blood for the next couple of weeks.
  9. Another Tory opening their mouth before consulting their brain. Sunak was talking about dangers to politicians but here is a Conservative Peer making allegations that led to death threats. He needs to sort his own house out.
  10. What a waste of taxpayers money. Should be coming out of her pocket https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/mar/06/taypayers-foot-the-bill-after-academics-libel-action-against-minister
  11. I know matches are a while ahead but I dare say they'll be calls for us not to play one of these teams unless something changes in the meantime.
  12. Are they going to do another exclusive about how David Beckham has retained his English accent?
  13. Not sure. Might have been because he's not really a 400m runner, maybe seem as a bit of an ego trip, denying another athlete the chance of medal?
  14. Better fitting kit plus more cameras, more close ups, make athletes more aware of their appearance. Even Noah Lyles had his nails painted!
  15. And I'm not convinced we always have as much 'freedom' as we think, when people have never learnt to cook because of family or lack of lessons in school, when good food is expensive, when all the 'bad' stuff is cheap, when we're bombarded with ads for takeaways and processed food, how much real choice do we have? We choose what we 'want' but 'wants' can be manufactured by hidden persuaders otherwise these companies wouldn't spend so much on advertising.
  16. Excellent stuff by Kerr, good stuff by Reekie (nice to see her get a medal on the world stage but I wonder if she'll be a bit disappointed). Other takes: Bol is phenomenal!
  17. You'd think if the Scots Tories had any decent ideas how to run a country they might have shared them with their mates in Westminster who have run the UK into the ground.
  18. And true to form. The Sun and reposted by Wings! It literally says at the end of the article that 'plain porridge oats will not be subject to any restriction' but hey, any chance to paint the Scottish Government in a bad light and whip up a bit of anti-SNP hysteria.
  19. We were there in the morning, not particularly star studded but still good fun, very different vibe to watching football or even rugby. Unfortunately I missed this evenings action as I was at an adoption meeting for our local SNP candidate. Still good stuff by Kerr. I don't think 3000 is Muir's preferred distance but Reekie looked good in qualifying.
  20. I would agree with that. I felt on the whole that jury was more reasoned up to that point, not projecting their own emotions and listening more to one another. However at the end, given the gravity of the decision they needed to make there was a feeling of 'Oh, come on you're letting us all down. Just make a decision so we can all get home for our tea'!
  21. We noticed that as well. Did they actually shoot it over four days? In my very limited experience of jury duty it was very drawn out. I know they used the actual words of the trial but I wonder if they were edited down in order to fit things into less than four hours.
  22. Wife and I both went for murder. I guess being schoolteachers just breeds cynicism and a default position of not believing anyone!! I don't think he set out to kill her, he didn't wake up in the morning thinking I'm going to do her in. Something within him snapped, the issue for me is did that mean he didn't intend to kill her/didn't know what he was doing at the time and I felt there was enough evidence to suggest in the moment he could have stopped. He wasn't a bad person but did something very bad. I would be wanting clarification from the judge on the precise difference between manslaughter and murder. If Ricky was the big loud mouthed businessman I wasn't a fan but felt he made good points about 'reasonable doubt'. I also felt that whilst, if you're convinced of the verdict you've got every right to argue that, he nonetheless came across as bullying others into sharing his viewpoint. I did feel that the victim didn't really get fairly represented. She may well have had issues, been manipulative, provoking etc. but I'm not sure whether that was ever challenged. It's a reminder that no human system if justice is perfect and hopefully dies open up a discussion about the effectiveness of the jury system. I know there has been some discussion about having juryless trials for some sexual offences and I am sympathetic to that.
  23. I thought Sunak did a news conference tonight about extremists. I wouldn't shed any tears if he banned those marches!
  24. I've only been on jury duty once. It was in Chelmsford Crown Court but obviously not the court used in the programme that I think is the old building. Unfortunately due to the defendant's ill health (we heard him being physically sick outside the courtroom) we never reached the point of having to decide whether he was guilty or not.
