  1. can certainly recommend the Spiral series on BBC iplayer - Paris cop series
  2. Biden has family ties to carlingford , he is acutely aware of the border issue - I wouldn’t be expecting a US UK trade deal any time soon if the Tories try and renege
  3. while the irish lobby influence has waned and will continue to wane as years go by there is still enough life in it to torpedo a UK/US deal
  4. you can only laugh tbh , whenever I am a bit down the Daily Express headline usually does it for me for the shear absence of reality . The UK have pissed off the EU , think they will get a good deal of the US and Britannia will still rules the waves . you do wonder how they controlled a quarter of the globe at one stage, you really do (though maxim machine guns obviously helped )
  5. been asking the same question for months - the excess deaths figure is shocking (even the official figure is bad given 20000 was considered 'good' still the media would rather concentrate on captain tom/Clapping on Thursdays etc but avoid serious comparisons with other countries and failing to point out the ludicrous situation where greek people had to quarantine flying into the UK given their respective countries records on covid
  6. that's a fair enough point , I only heard it in passing on a radio show , I think Ireland has done a reasonable job North and south , the common travel area probably hasn't help
  7. "and such like " Though it should , sure you used to be able to fail your test and still drive home on your own. A lot of the older generation were just given driving licences
  8. yes it may change a bit but I doubt to the extent that the government can turn around and say "there were 20000 deaths in excess of a normal 12 month period we done a good job in extenuating circumstances" As I said in an earlier post Irelands excess death rate was reported on the radio as being close to zero as the covid deaths were offset by the lack of traffic accidents and such like
  9. latest figures from the ex ONS guy - excess deaths at 68610 up until 20th June - now over say 12 months this mighten be as bad as it looks as some people may have died a bit earlier than they would of but cant see it changing the underlining charge that the UK made a complete balls of it https://twitter.com/statsjamie?lang=en
  10. like yourselves, us NI, and Iceland ( 3 of the 4 groups ) the last 2 sets of games 4 in total all shifting by at least a day sometimes two - play off on the Wednesday would of been less disruptive certainly for the middle set of games
  11. wtf didn't they do the playoffs on the 7th Oct means our game against wales h and finland away will have to be shunted by a day - my current Helsinki flights are fuked
  12. Your strawman arguments are a bit tedious at this stage so I will pass , as you clearly aren't interested in availing yourself of any sort of answer that in anyway puts UK plc in a bad light - ignorance is bliss enjoy the bliss
  13. people forgive mistakes they do not forgive incompetence. I have no idea who is blame for the virus but I aint buying this 'in this altogether, 'nows not the time to apportion blame' bollix ' excess deaths are at 67500 above the norm , how come germany with less notice and numerous land borders have done much better
  14. you seem to be in complete denial that the UK had advance notice, no land border ( bar Ireland) and still made a complete mess of it . It is exactly the right time for fingerpointing - there are enough reputable stats out there pointing that out
  15. hardly a surprise but why this isn't front an centre is indeed a mystery and I don't buy the 'lets get through this and then have an inquiry 'bollix
  16. I am not sure why you mention the GFA it made no difference to my eligilibity for an irish passport which was my right from birth and exercised long before the GFA was even thought of. (It also made no difference to football eligibility but that is another argument ) I daresay the greeks will see the irish passport and if the arrangements with Ireland and Greece are not an issue then there would be no issue - I am not going to Greece anyway but the same comment applies to Ireland as to the UK , is the 14 day quarantine applied to countries with a better record than Ireland who on the whole has done reasonably well ?certainly in comparison to the UK where the common travel areas will not require quarantine between the two
  17. good to hear , have a mainland Europe holiday booked for mid Aug hoping it will be back to as close to normal as possible It a bit rich to be quarantining people from countries with better records - are they going to be quarantining the greeks with their 300 deaths against a likely UK figure of 66000 ? Am flying out of Dublin anyway
  18. cheers didn't know that - I suspect the Greek islands will be a popular destination
  19. Pushing 65000 now Greece has had 300 deaths that I though was surprising
  20. which is why i think the euro nations will go ahead even behind closed doors, plus the money thay have lost/partially deferred for euro 2020 which would of been sizeable
  21. article reckons UK excess deaths is 60K up to 11 May - why the media aren't ll over this is staggering http://www.progressivepulse.org/brexit/covid-19-how-is-the-uk-doing
  22. Think they may scrap 1 set of fixtures ( Sept) and combine it with the last 2 (so 2 triple headers in Oct Nov) they will not want to scrap completely given that they have sold TV rights for the guts of 200 games including the big names Could move the first set to Dec. Probably screwed either way as has been stated they will likely be BCD. So screwed anyway with a flight to Helsinki in October but think I can get a voucher from Lufthansa for it . Play offs pushed back to March 2021would be my guess
