  1. In discussions post refy I've been called anti-English for the first time in 30 years. The tone and delivery of questions asked of me has changed exactly as you describe. This is in real contrast to the way things were before the vote when I had regular healthy debates and discussions with friends and strangers alike. I'm now playing things very cool - when people ask me now I just say how disappointed I am but that "we go again and the campaign has a long way". There is an acknowledgement that this is the case but otherwise it could end up affecting strong friendships. There is division and I believe independence will prove to be the healing agent and I agree that Indy seems closer now than it did in September. I do have a nagging fear that if Salmond fails to win his WM seat next year, then the bubble might be burst. On the other hand, if he wins, and goes to WM with another 30 SNP MP's.............
  2. Translated from the Chinese original - Yellow River by Wan Lang Pee
  3. No problem - I wondered if I'd been stirring my bovril too vigorously and missed something ?
  4. You may be right about p*sh forwards but there was no penalty given at Selhurst Park last night! McArthur was terrific in a game in dominated by Palace. Lack of composure cost them as Benteke showed what a class act he is. Hutton had a great game and was totally committed throughout. He had no opportunity to move outside his own half
  5. Saw James McArthur play for 70 minutes against Swansea today. He played in the central role behind a lone striker - neat, good first touch, got the ball down, protected possession. Very impressed
  6. I'm always surprised that there nearly always seems to be room on the planogram (is that right?) for The Irish Times and The Irish Independent, often with a third Irish paper too. This is true of the big 4 supermarkets as well as the smaller stores in the indy buying groups - Londis, Co-op, Spar etc In my part of Hampshire I'd bet there are are more Scots than Irish but other than an occasional Record, you rarely see a Scottish paper on the stands.
  7. Missed it - I sometimes wonder what the f*k I do with my life
  8. Yes they can all claim: - that the VOW has been delivered - that indyref vote was decisive - that the matter is closed for a generation BUT as Eck, Nicola and Toepoke have said, it's not up to politicians and pundits: it's up to the electorate If they feel the VOW has been delivered in full, then the polls will reflect this. There will be a dramatic fall in the level of popular support for the SNP, the ALLIANCE parties, and for Independence itself. I wonder.....when are the next polls published?
  9. Has anyone followed the youtube link of Andy Ritchie onto the next clip? It's the 15 contenders for goal of the season in 1982 - some brilliant goals and great memories
  10. If that's the case, and I agree it sometimes is, it would be entirely appropriate. If I attended a local QT I'd want to lace a national question with a local flavour. However tonight we had national questions on immigration, education, and a brief one on white van man/Thornberry but very little of local interest
  11. No representative of IndyScot - just as well as there was neither question nor comment on the Smith Commission, nor was there any discussion on Mitchell and Plebgate Strange programme
  12. How many times did we hear that? I use the expression all the time to express some minor setback which is rarely anything to do with Scotland or football. That, and "what a stramash" - always raises a smile dahn sarf. Lifelong memories - RIP Arthur
  13. People who sneeze, often while walking through crowded streets or shopping centres, who don't try to stifle it, or even put a hand up to their nose. Filthy boggers
  14. I agree Fletcher should play (when fit). He's a player. But "playing Rhodes would reduce the amount of attackers"? You want more attackers - I want more goals! We're making plenty of chances but need to put them in the pokey. FTR: Rhodes: 61 in 109 games; in only 3 seasons incl this (lean?) one with 7 in 18 Scotland 3/11; U-21's 8/8 (a record) Just compare: Martin: 42 on 134 - 5 seasons; Scotland 0 Naismith: 13 in 74 - 3 seasons; Scotland 4/34 Ross McC: 80 in 219 - 6 seasons; Scotland 2/11 Fletcher: 48 in 154 - 6 seasons; Scotland 1/18 Someone says JR has a goal every 267 minutes. In truth, over the last 3 years it's one every 161 minutes, much better than 1 every 2 games. I'm not saying he should be the No 1 striker I'm not saying he should replace Fletcher or Naismith I AM saying he should at least be in the squad. He'd thrive with service from Anya, Russell, Snodgrass etc. He is NOT just a 6 yard box striker - for the doubters:
