  1. Your hmmmm suggests well-advised caution. As many have said, it's hard to imagine that all those huge SLABMaj's can be overturned by SNP candidates who, in several seats, were in 4th place in 2010. I'd trade a few of the 57 to see off the Alexanders and Murphy and more still just to win OS.
  2. You'll be enjoying this - a famous night. Congratulations to Bournemouth - 3 great goals (and maybe more to come). Ritchie looks the part again, playing in a tidy midfield too
  3. Mackmyra - my sister's lived in Sweden for nearly 40 years and she and her husband always seem very proud of their biggest whisky brand but they don't drink it and have never offered me one (relying on me to bring a nice Aberlour of Tobermory etc). Hibiki - really interesting to hear that Souness' 'Tache. My son spent some time working for a major whisky retailer and he's heard the same -and also that Russians and Japanese pay big money for some off these older bottlings. When I met him in Traf Sq for the England game, he'd just sold a Macallan for £22,000. Where did you send it to, I asked him - nowhere, he just walked out with it tucked under his arm!
  4. I can't get passed the fact that for 28 years my taxes helped my MP to have £15,000 of tree surgery done (this is £15k that we know of) and further expenses to keep his swimming pool clean. All this for his family home, never mind his 2nd home in London - 35 1st Class minutes away by train. I can't NOT vote for him ever again as he's now standing down after years of pocling on a major scale though if you were to ask him, I'd bet a penny to a pinch of sh1t that he would think it was just sweetie money. So who to vote for? Probably Green
  5. Thanks all - can't ask for clearer advice than that. I won't get to run4it but I'll find a good shop down here and get fitted out properly (with running socks Deecie!). Cheers
  6. Is there a discussion anywhere on TAMB about good running shoes? Inspired by all the progress recorded by TAMBers on this thread, and the one on Couch to 5k, I'm starting to get out there after years of not doing anything. Hope to move to local Park Runs sometime in the summer. Any advice (or steers to relevant threads) on good shoes and kit would be much appreciated
  7. Ormond for me. For years it was hard to explain what qualifying for WC 74 meant to the country (the more so since southern neighbours failed to get to Germany). Now everyone knows the pain of missing out after an even longer period of non-qualification. Willie Ormond's achievement was to create an expectation of qualification which led to to 6 WC appearances out of 7
  8. Went to look at Bournemouth this eve at Reading. First time I've seen Ritchie play 90 minutes. I was impressed: holds it up well, always tries to get the ball under control to play it on, works hard, creates chances. .....and, whisper it, Jamie Mackie was probably Reading's best player (and was MoM last weekend too). A real handful with pace and skill playing at 9
  9. Not how I remember him as he drove his team to near glory v World Champions in 2007 in an inspirational performance. This was just a month after another brilliant performance when he partnered Paul Hartley as we held it together to survive in Paris, this time in a classy role staying calm in front of the defence. Two great nights - pity about the boozegate antics - still can't forgive him that
  10. Should I just turn off after 20 minutes of rammy? This is embarrassing - can it all be down to bad chairmanship for a second time in a few days? I'm pleased it's on BBC Scotland - I've spent months/years explaining to the folk down South that Scottish politics is more civilised than the outdated WM politics of confrontation
  11. What a brilliant 3rd round - and what a 4 from Spieth on 18. I backed Rose at 28/1 on Thursday, then topped up at 14/1 before he teed off this evening. Playing last 12 in 7 under gives him a great chance and sets up yet another cracking final day at the Masters.
  12. England 0-0 - 137,000 but if I could have chosen it would have been 1973 v Czechoslovakia - I agree with everything Khana Lagur posted about that game and the next 40+ years
  13. Yep - Spieth is def feeling it. No idea where is his ball is off the tee. Before play started, I thought the field needed him to come back to -10 or -11. Now those scores might not be leading tonight. Yet again The Masters lives up to its reputation. Oops - what a shot from Spieth! This is just impossible to call. That's just why you can always find value from the bookies. Brilliant to watch!
  14. Think he can handle a single shot but if he lost another, then had a double.....
  15. Cheeky wee hunner to collect from £2 ew on Many Clouds and Moonbeg Dude Just need Cabrara to have a good weekend....
  16. Hibiki 12yo - a lovely single malt with a fruit/plum flavour. There's also a 17yo expression but it's an expensive alternative (at least it is to buy it here).
  17. From the BBC's helpful online guide to "Why all the Fuss about the SNP": "The main reason for the focus on the SNP at the moment is because of their high poll ratings. A number of surveys have suggested the party is on course to increase its representation at Westminster, with one indicating it could take more than 40 of Labour's seats in Scotland at the coming election". "...take more than 40 of Labour's seats in Scotland...." I'd pay a lot to see that happen ?
  18. ......but surely it's a win win for Scotland either Independence (although clearly we'd be mad to vote for a worthless oil-based economy) or an equal share of unimagined oil revenues [for DC assured us*, with all his heart, that we are an equal partner with an equal voice and an equal, nay, a leading, role in the UK] #oilbonanza *Sept 2014
  19. Will it be any different in Aberdeen? Tonight's audience selection was representative of the SoV in the 2010 GE. So a fair reflection of CURRENT political opinion then......
  20. Good points Wanderer. McArthur isn't a silky player but has a trick or two and works incredibly hard. He's constantly looking to break things up but doesn't dive in, his first touch is good and he looks after the ball really well. He also defends in his own 6 yard box (he had two off the line v Man C and would have had a 3rd if Speroni hadn't made a brilliant save). It's been great watching him play this season - he's been a major reason why Palace have done so well since the new year. It's harder to understand why Bannan's never made it with us or at Palace or Villa. I thought he was a class act in Dortmund last Sept but the fact he's on loan in the championship must say something about him. Could it be an attitude problem?
  21. .......was immense tonight. Could easily have been MoM
