  1. They've been to hell and back having to support a team who changed their home strip.......
  2. Because Taylor was seeking a comparison presumably that football fans may understand: "He wouldn't have been the first person to be found guilty, maintained their innocence and been proved right. We know what happened with Hillsborough," Taylor told BBC Sport. Rather tenuous if you ask me, but there is an element of association there........He would have been better of comparing (in his mind) to a footballer who has been red carded, appeals and has the red card rescinded - not that I am suggesting for a moment that Evans did not deserve to be found guilty.
  3. Keep chanting "SNP are right wing" every day and some loons will eventually believe it.........
  4. The sure footed Gordon Taylor makes a Hillsborough comparison. The perfect storm now for those seeking ways to be offended.
  5. Yes, but a wall is set-up to prevent a free shot at goal. However I would suggest that 95% of the time, a well positioned goalkeeper should save a shot from 20 or so yards if he has a clear sight of it (excluding the occasional shot that just can't be saved). Due to the wall limiting the goalkeeper's vision and due to the goalkeeper positioning himself in a position in the goals which is likely to be the furthest distance from the ball, I would say his success rate is below 95% and therefore would concede less goals from free-kicks by having no wall. However the standard mentaility is that you cannot give the opposition a free shot. in saying that there will be other variables. if the defending team elect not to have a wall, the opposing team can have their own wall and thus reduce the keeper's vision and dictate his positioning. Also the attacking team's wall can break off or do a number of distrcating things. So rather than being a line of defence, maybe a wall from the defending team is needed merely to prevent the oppsoition team from creating a wall........
  6. it basically comes down to whether he is a top player, a top top player, or a top top top player - or merely just a long standing player. On the few occasions I have seen him playing for England, he has been mince.... as such I conclude that he is likely to excel taking penalties against Leicester, Aston Villa etc but up against decent international standard players he seems to be found wanting.......
  7. Yes but given the historic deep roots of Labour here, it was quite a significant swing.......
  8. An England flag or a German flag? Neither would bother me either but it's the attachment of "pride" and "patriotism" that comes with it that bothers me. Must be an election coming up and in the absence of fair policies, nonsense like this is churned out to appeal to simpletons.......
  9. Ministers say those with the licence will be able to "fly the flag with pride" - I can see why Rangers fans would endorse this but attempting to take a high ground over criticism of this is a bit rich.........
  10. On moving back to Glasgow an exciting year to live here. The referendum outcome a real sickener only marginally compensated for by the vibrancy of the city in the build up to it. On the whole a memorable year and you can't say that about a lot of years. Was out for lunch on Saturday with some friends. I knew he was a "no" voter, wasn't sure of his partner. The conversation was light and of course we spoke about the referendum. Friend's partner asked "so you voted yes without even having a currency?". Didn't make much of it at the time but then considered afterwards how when it came to the referendum the statements of the likes of Osbourne and Alexander were seen by those who voted "no" as being firm and unequivocal but in any other circumstances would be scrutinised, questioned and in all likelihood seen as being a bit ridiculous. Maybe some people were indeed just looking for any excuse to vote "no" and hung their hat on any issue they felt they could best explain and understand - in this case currency.
  11. He was mince against England. As back up would much rather have the energy of May and Russell than the lumbering Martin.
  12. Aye - cause Dundee and clubs lower than them in the league have been losing goals like that all season. They are two a penny.......move on..........
  13. So you agree then that the SNP are liberal in their immigration policies? How does this sit with other right of centre parties in UK and across Europe?
  14. I know you have a tv and don't pay the licence. Like my brother. I quoted you because you referred to those who are without a tv and it fitted in loosely with my assumption on why they don't have a tv in th first instance.........Incidentally the majority of my views are based on my mental workings
  15. The sole reason someone does not have a tv is to be able to smugly say "I don't even own a TV".......
  16. You consistently pick up on one point but conveniently ignore the SNP policies and views on immigration, welfare, Europe, education, nuclear weapons, etc........So ignoring the one point you constantly raise for one moment, how would you describe the SNP's position in terms of the political spectrum on these issues?
  17. Aye indeed. Imagine those offended by seeing a mum smack their kid on the bottom saw a mother take off a wooden soled shoe and give the kid 5 rapid about the head...........haha. And my mum is so meek now. Age a factor but I think I must have really had her at the end of her tether on some occasions..........
  18. Mine too. And not a soft comfortable shoe, a friggin Scholl type sandal with a wooden base............
  19. Add to that some folk's desperation to get on telly and connect themselves to the tragedy regardless of their true involvement......
  20. And if you come hame in that nick again it will be more than a black eye I'll be giving you......
  21. If Aberdeen or any other club in Scotland could produce players of the quality of Roberston, Gauld and Armstrong then they would also be a "selling club".
  22. He did a documentary recently on sportsmen (or maybe more generally just people) battling depression. He said he suffered some very bad bouts with it......
  23. Was in town earlier and walked past there. Would have been a horrendous thing to witness and of course get caught up in. Dreqdful for anyone injured and of course any pour soul amongst the dead. What's the feckin chances of going into town to do some shopping and then being clipped on the pavement by a bin lorry? Makes you take a step back from trivial worries........ As an aside and completely unrelated to the awfulness of what has happened it would be nice for the reporting to make no mention of the Clutha and shoe-horn in a Jim Murphy connection (political allegiances out the window) - it's lazy and unnecessary. It would also be good if "witnesses" amd rent a quotes would refrain from making reference to the indomitable Glaswegain spirit - it's approaching Liverpudlian heights. Decent people react decently - it's not ingrained into a city dweller's psyche.........
