  1. Do you mean intimidating for his El Classico opponents? 😉
  2. Brilliant post, thanks for the info. If only the SFA could be bothered to update their website and promote the good things taking place
  3. I thought Armstrong looked really good when he came on against Denmark and played in a Ryan Christie type role supporting Che Adams up front. I wonder if that could be his position in the team. He has always struggled when playing in midfield with McGinn. The midfield never feels balanced when those 2 are in the team together.
  4. Good points and agree that it’s a problem. In truth I’m not so familiar with all the options. I would say it’s maybe a big quick to write off Liam Kelly - still quite young and has shown promise at times. McLaughlin seems to be a trusted deputy at Rangers. Clark - not long ago he was on fire. I’ve just not seen enough of any of them to say for sure - therefore I accept maybe a bit rash of me to blindly write off Marshall!! But we do need to build experience as backup to Gordon. And from what I’ve seen of Marshall lately he’s not a safe pair of hands to turn to right now
  5. Not quite sure what you’re getting at here, but I don’t think Marshall’s anything other than a model pro who always gave his all. However, it’s not uncommon for goalies to suddenly lose form, especially at his age. Is it not most likely that the 2 managers who have seen him close up have maybe come to the conclusion he’s not on form and should be kept away from their respective teams? Sure, he could still turn it round and prove people wrong. I hope he does well at QPR, but I’ll be surprised if he suddenly gets drafted back in.
  6. My views also only my humble opinion and I’ve been wrong before! Personally, I totally disagree on Marshall. We have players now who need the ball passed through midfield and are comfortable taking the ball in tight situations and Marshall is a throwback. We don’t want our goalies to launch it and give the ball away every time. No point having a player as backup who doesn’t fit the style of your team, especially someone towards the end of their career. Also was starting to make a lot more errors per game. He wasn’t Derby third choice for nothing
  7. There’s definitely something weird about the lack of transparency from the SFA on this. The Performance Director used to be a high profile role. What’s the plan now? Why not celebrate some success? Give us some reassurance that this is actually important to the SFA.
  8. Hope that David Marshall is out of the Scotland picture for good. He was starting to look error prone and above all else his distribution was appalling and we endlessly conceded possession from his lumps up field. Did a decent job for us over the years but his time is done
  9. If we start qualifying regularly they surely pay for themselves. Like you say, would be great to see a list of players, say, who’ve made a senior club appearance or played for the under 21s. Get a feel for how many are coming through the schools
  10. I looked at the site not long ago and Malky was still shown as Performance Director. You’d think they’d be keen to show off the successes starting to come through after all the initial fanfare. Or are they still thinking of canning them quietly in the background. Harder to cancel something if it’s perceived to be a big success…
  11. I don’t know either, but McGinn is hardly a passenger in a midfield scrap
  12. I’d like to see this but probably not trialled for the first time in a World Cup playoff semi final
  13. I think you might have to consider central defence and midfield together to work out the best team. LCB - Tierney CB - Hanley / Cooper RCB - Souttar / Hendry / McTominay CM - McGregor / McTominay CM - Gilmour ACM - McGinn It’s a tough call but I think I’d go McT - Hanley - Tierney Gilmour - McGregor McGinn (reserves right to change mind!)
  14. Anyone suggesting Gilmour not playing is on the windup
  15. Haha! Love it! I can assume your username isn’t a tribute to the aforementioned former Aberdeen star!
  16. A kind of reverse role model. Inspired you to give up on your dreams 😉
  17. The Ukrainian Andy Roxburgh! It’s an obscure nickname but I like it!
  18. Apparently there is, but he could only play as an emergency keeper
  19. According to the Scotsman: Leeis Ferguson wanted by several (unspecified) EPL clubs Kerr Smith set to go to Villa for up to £2m with add ons Celtic set to turn down £1.6 m bid from Udinese for Stephen Welsh as they want to keep him It seems our younger players are in demand!
  20. Maybe but it does at least encourage them to keep investing in their youth system. For the first time in my lifetime, Rangers do seem to have a conveyor belt of promising youngsters coming through the ranks - which is quite damning and neglectful given the size of the club
  21. We have a never ending conveyor belt of full backs 😂 Have the performance school coaches only read chapter one of the manual so far? 😉
  22. Hey there, good to hear from the Ireland’s perspective. I had noticed your results had started to pick up after a dreadful run. As far as I know the Ireland fans have stood behind Kenny throughout the bad times? I’m expecting a couple of very tight games which could go either way. Exactly the type we used to lose, but lately seem able to get a win. I agree that anyone who thinks we will pump Ireland are getting ahead of themselves. Personally, I’ve always had a great time when I’ve come to Dublin. Looking forward to the games and hope we get to show how much we’ve improved over the last year or so!
