  1. You just need to look at the language being used in these late stages - headlines like "save the union" have been common and will only intensify. If they have to work so hard to save it, do they genuinely believe a YES result being likely. Also - people, perhaps subconsciously, talk about Scotland "winning" independence. No one ever talks about "winning" the Union. And not being too paranoid, but I hope the YES vote is decisive so counter any potential sneaky tricks that may occur.
  2. This will only further boost support for YES. Most people do not relate to the Orange Order and have no time for them. And if this is their demonstration of what "Britishness" is, I'm sure the electorate will say No Thanks to that...
  3. Gordon Brown is an opposition back bench MP. He has no power or authority to offer ANYTHING. Oh, he's also out of a job if we vote YES but I'm sure that's not influencing him...
  4. I genuinely thought they would marry off Price Harry in Scotland to get another Royal Wedding just before the vote.
  5. CONFIRMED STARTING XI Marshall Hutton Whittaker Martin Hanley Morrison D Fletcher Mulgrew Bannan Anya Naismith
  6. Funny how they didn't use this when comparing the season ticket with other events... Disgraceful.
  7. It does seem a little odd that almost everyone that pulls on the dark blue tomorrow night isn't eligible to vote. If the opinions of footballers influence someone's vote that says a lot.
  8. I'm not sure about these polls. The media are always all over them for a story. Narrowing polls build excitement, which sells papers and increases website views. I wouldn't be surprised if we get one w/c 15th Sept saying 50/50. Although hope I'm just being suspicious and YES are actually romping it of course!
  9. I remember seeing "Scotland has never been afraid to shock the world" written somewhere in an article I was reading and thought, wow. That's good. You will always remember where you were and what you were doing when you find out the result. T-minus 2 weeks and counting...
  10. Something refreshing highlighted here about the language used I've seen elsewhere in this debate. "if Scotland WINS independence." No one talks about winning the status quo.
  11. Fantastic! This is what the debate needs. Independence is too important for politicians to lead on.
  12. If you put that on Facebook I would click Like People should also have to take a quick test at the polling station to make sure they understand what this vote is actually about. I'm sure some of them are in for a surprise when they don't see Scottish National Party or Alex Salmond on the ballot paper...
  13. This is key to the whole campaign. From people I've spoken to, I wouldn't be surprised if many NO voters didn't bother going out to the polls whereas YES are more likely to vote.
  14. What's the sample size and methodology? Always suspicious of polls - they can, and are, manipulated to show the desired result to suit. A tightening return just now makes good press. I wouldn't be surprised if on the 17th we get a poll showing 50/50.
  15. Was introduced to this on the Board recently. Still trying to get my head around it...
  16. The only way the SNP will disappear is with a YES vote. Independence is what unites the SNP and is pretty much the reason for its existence. Once the ultimate goal has been achieved, splinter groups will start to form within and breakaway into new parties to contest elections. Labour will need a total refresh, the Tories will probably re-brand and the LibDems will probably continue to be an irrelevance.
  17. Singing Flower of Scotland in there a few weeks after a YES vote would be decent.
