  1. Total agreement. We should take each game as it comes. 3pts on Sunday for us and two draws in the other games would be a brilliant start. We should be aiming to win the group! Of course that's more than likely not going to happen, but aim high! This group isn't particularly tough. England have an excellent qualifying record and will be tough to topple, and Malta are probably one of the stronger Low-ranked seeds, but the middle 3 are all beatable over 2 legs. I'd be looking at Malta 6pts Slovenia/Slovakia 4 Lithuania 6 We do that we'll have a decent shot at the playoffs. Need to be ruthless on Sunday and Lithuania away. Do what Ireland do and grind out wins away to lower seeds. No excuses about heat or Kaunas being a difficult place to go!
  2. I was told twice in the last week by different members of staff "I'll just have to scan this paper so you can get your water cheaper" Not even bothering to try and tempt people in to taking the Telegraph.
  3. Beautiful stuff, imagine seeing that at the Olympics - the ol' blue Scotland and our flag flying. Well done to Alan and Greg. Squash is a great game.
  4. Absolutely! I wasn't meaning it in the throw-away way of ''call that an Olympic sport''. They are brilliant and their times are very good. All built like long-distance runners, and the French guy who holds the world record collapsed a few times/shat himself and finished in about 7th position. It was very interesting, and 3 hrs 30 or so won yesterday's 50km Gold medal just shows you how fast they are going. My 3mile runs are between 19-21 minutes usually depending on the circumstances, and these guys get 22/23mins. Same with a 10k, my best is 37 minutes and the world record for racewalking is 39:22. Amazing!
  5. Surely the 50km walk is pretty much slow warm down jogging
  6. Það er spurning, maður. Ég er ekki viss þá um planið hjá fólksins sem að búa úti eða hérna á landinu. ÍSK er að lagast svo kannski í framtíðinú það væri allt að komast í ljós og þú veist það, er það ekki? Hverning gengur úpp í súmarbústað með Sigga og Jónni? Langaði til að hittast bráðum. Kv.
  7. Yes, why not. I'm 33 and considering studying something like that. You're expected to work until 67, and who knows what age itll be bumped up to in a few years. So if you get in to a day before your 40th birthday - you're probably looking at 30 years of work. Go for it!
  8. Haha! Or the last horse to sit/lye down once the music stops is eliminated.
  9. Cavendish wipes out the Korean rider - unintentionally possibly - yet the BBC haven't mentioned how he is. He was carried out on an stretcher.
  10. You didn't miss much with the medal ceremony unless you wanted to see Murray mime along to G.S.T.Q. The match itself was excellent. Murray's all round game is superb, although he does tend to let his opponent back in to his game. Was amazed at the amount of broke serves yesterday, maybe that's a bit harsh on JDP as he was excellent too - although found the net quite often. I play a bit of squash when home and pretty disappointed that IOC didn't include it. No idea why I'm saying that, but what sports would you like to see cut/added to the Olympics?
  11. I've backed Del Potro throughout the tournament. He was 8/1 against Djoko, 13/8 v Nadal and 10/3 today. Decided to chuck a few quid on him when he lost the first set at 8/1 as well - so fingers crossed. I'd quite like to see Del Potro win after his injuries and I enjoy watching him, but also would be pleased if Andy does it too. The 'Tina fans are class. Rowdy and having one hell of a time.
  12. The Men's Gold final in tennis has been superb so far. Murray took an early lead, JDP came back to tie it up to 4-4, now Muzza has a chance for the first set. Superb! Murray is tremendous. The last few years his whole game has come on.
  13. All, but one of the Scots medals were won in a team event with other Brits. As much as I dislike the Team GB, I'm not that keen on the ''We've got 50 athletes/9medals'' Reporting Scotland parochial stuff either. I'm just a grumpy Gus probably.
  14. Also - Guam, Marshall Islands, US Virgin Islands who are all US commonwealth overseas territories. Does anyone know the actual criteria for entering? For Eurovision if I recall, you need an actual independent state broadcaster which Scotland does not have. No idea about the funding, or money available, and of course can you imagine the media backlash if Scotland did attempt to put a team in for Tokyo with the the hardcore Britnats. I don't see why we couldn't. Even if the 'stars' would stay with GB, it could give some of the younger and overlooked by team GB athletes a chance to compete as well. Heard a 'proud Scot' that I know lightly ribbing an Irish pal of ours about their 1 silver medal. I'd take a silver medal for Scotland over all these GB medals. The BBC are almost ruining what has been excellent coverage - the actual sports on offer - but their constant sycophantry for anything British, the houlier/better than thou especially mother Russia is frustrating, the Swimming guy is the worst ''Britain can win a medal. We should'' roll on the end result ''Johnny Plucky Blighty came in 7th, but was .8 seconds away from the gold''. Darren Campbell was quite refreshing listening on 5 live earlier when discussing the Heptathon - and gave Katarina Johnson-Thompson an honest appraisal of her performance e.g she needs to improve her javelin/throwing, and why not focus on long jump/triple jump. Whilst the BBC have her winning the gold in Tokyo. Of course they want to be supportive, and good luck to the athletes, but it's tiring listening to same old cliches. ''We're a small country'' as well - eh not really, 70 odd million is more than Canada, Australia, and most of the EU nations.
  15. Haha, brilliant. I really don't know how to take Armstrong. I've watched The Armstrong Lie and listened to him on Joe Rogan's podcast for 3hrs. Of course he cheat d and was rightly punished/ostracised, but there was something about him in his interviews that made him listen for the whole hog - he's intelligent, quick-witted, funny and even has a bit of humility - well did on the podcast episode regading the doping, but I'm still tore that he cheated to such an extent and is most likely a sociopath who walked over pal's and lied. Hmmmm.
  16. A massive fud with an over-inflated ego. Says a lot when I only know him due to this pro-Britnat stance and nothing to do with his music. Imagine he would tell you the sky was green on a clear summer's day.
  17. Mon Fiji! About to get their first medal at an Olympics, hope it's the gold.
  18. Were they referring to the processed shite we lap up and our poor diet in general? Or the actual good food we produce like you mentioned in the second paragraph? Who actually eats deep-fried mars bars? I've heard this a few times as well, it was a huge publicity stunt at the time for chipper, and it seems to have traveled -although didn't realise abroad - mostly English/Irish who mocked me/us about this. We are part of Britain and they are well-mocked for their diet/food by mainland Europeans, most people just lump us altogether as England/Britain.
  19. Been enjoying it, more so the red button and the lesser known sports. Enjoying water polo, handball, swimming and the tennis was last night was very exciting - Murrays going out and big Delpo knocking out Djoko. I know it's the BBC and all, but wish they'd lay off the ''Russia bad, mother Blighty good'' shit a little. Or ''plucky Johnny Britain did brilliant to come 58th in the fencing''. Will be up tonight for Le Clos and Phelps. I didn't see the London ceremony, but seen and heard on other sites and newspapers ''ours was much better than Rio''. I thought the opening ceremony was excellent this year. I enjoyed the history of Brazil segment greatly, and the colours/co-ordination was excellent. I was half-expecting more from Gisele and her last catwalk, I've no idea what, but a long speech or something ;), but it didn't happen.
