  1. No probs. Depending on what type of night out you're planning, Broughty Ferry is pretty good not only for curries but some good pubs too. Perth Road has pretty much everything too though.
  2. There's a few but I can't say I really know them as I live at the other side of town with 3-4 really good places within a few hundred yards. The Gunga Din is still popular with folk I know and has been around for many, many years and the decor still looks the same . It's a bit of an institution to many though. Spice might be quite good according to Trip Advisor : http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186518-d1674845-Reviews-Spice-Dundee_Scotland.html They used to be in Broughty Ferry and was quite decent back then but they moved to Perth Rd 2-3 years back (I assume it's the same people). Malabar also gets good reviews but I've not been http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Search?q=malabar+dundee&geo=186518&pid=3826&returnTo=http%253A__2F____2F__www__2E__tripadvisor__2E__co__2E__uk__2F__Restaurant__5F__Review__2D__g186518__2D__d1674845__2D__Reviews__2D__Spice__2D__Dundee__5F__Scotland__2E__html
  3. There's probably a lot more to it than that but people of all types working together across numerous barriers made a big difference (you could say it was classes mixing more than ever before and many getting confidence in their abilities for the first time). One of Labour's slogans was "Cheer Churchill, vote Labour".
  4. And many of these same interests run from April-Oct when the football is on for most of that time too. Most golfers I know play for at least 6-8 months of the year. There's also lots of other major events all year round (golf & tennis grand slams, 6 nations rugby, rugby league, American Football, Olympic & Commonwealth Games, horse racing to name but some) and no-one seems to think it clashes with the current football fixtures.
  5. Why not try it for 2-3 seasons? I'm sure it would be better and not worse. If it's crap, revert back to what we have now. At least we'd have some sort of an answer.
  6. Can't make Dublin but will be in Faro. Only joking though and glad the bet worked out. Those bookies make too much money ! If I do bump into you in Faro I may change my mind - never tried super bok.
  7. I'll accept a pint as financial adviser commission.
  8. Sorry, I lost track of time and assumed Stoke game was over. Good shout cashing out IMO but I'm not particularly good. Decent return though hopefully. As I type it's 4-1 so great shout !
  9. We've christened the Cash Out button the "pussy" button but it's come in useful for me a few times. Is the Korea game on now and your result bet 2-0 ? If in the future, I'd cash out myself.
  10. I hope he's back ASAP to help counteract this board being further swamped with only sheepshagger posts.
  11. Wow. That was both heart warming and heart wrenching. Thanks for posting it redstevie.
  12. The BBC seems to be able to challenge or edit opinions when it suits them though. At times it doesn't suit them so it fair game and fair viewing from their perspective.
  13. Good question. Would be interesting to see the figures. Personally I'd go to more in the summer football (as a part timer) and I think you'd get more folk like me also attending - more kids over the school holidays etc too.
  14. It's different playing but we're talking about watching. There's still enough rain in Scotland in summer not to make pitches rock hard - especially compared to winter pitches frozen solid and called off. I agree though, it is a traditional winter sport (like rugby) but I think it's worth a go. There wasn't TV coverage back then either. We'd watch English and European football over the winter in the warmth of our homes or pubs and go out in the summer sun/rain to see our own teams more often.
  15. Shame this thread has been derailed in this way. Let's hope there's a massive turnout.
  16. I don't see how that would affect Scottish football much. As you say, Swedish football manages it and they appear more often than us in bif tournaments. You also have the African Cup of Nations on at the moment with players from all over the top leagues in Europe. I'm all in favour of it and think the crowds would go up. I'm a real part-timer but would defo go to more games if we had matches right through the better weather months.
  17. Lets add more to the mix. Which Dundee Utd players might get into any of these combined teams ? GMS is the obvious one. How about Cifti or Armstrong ?
