  1. 96% return for postal votes doesn't surprise me. If the postals were really 70% NO then that does sound a wee bit strange. Does anybody know off the top of their head what proportion of the total vote the postal votes were? I mean, if they managed to change the postal votes from say 55:45 to 70:30 would it have been enough to swing the overall vote?
  2. Well, dinae argue about it then. Just accept it and be grateful. We never get any luck but we have learned to live with that.
  3. Ok , I think we are on the same wavelength as far as the numbers are concerned. It's just the way you worded it that threw me. You initially said "any other combination" which isn't he same as "50 heads then 50 tails in a row." IMO. That is a very specific combination. But I now see what you meant. I am not convinced that plane crashes are independent events though.
  4. That is what he said to start ff with, and is obviously correct, but he then went on to say this Which is very different, IMO.
  5. It wasn't a criticism, just an observation. Nothing wrong with being a narcissistic Adonis and then boasting about on the TAMB if it makes you feel good about yourself. It's good that you ar keeping yourself fit.
  6. Do you think the probability of 100 heads in a row is the same as 50 heads and 50 tails? If that's your understanding of probability, I suggest you steer clear of the bookies.
  7. That is only correct if you assume plane crashes are independent events. If somebody tossed a coin and got 99 consecutive heads I would have to suspect that those coin tosses were not independent events and that some trickery was going on.
  8. One way to look at is, that because a plane crashed yesterday, then it is statistically less likely that one will crash tomorrow.
  9. Ya rascal you. You are spending too much time, too close to politicians
  10. I think the message Nicola and Alex are trying to get across is quite simple. Vote SNP and you can still get Labour at Westminster. The only person who will stop that happening is Ed Milliband.
  11. I also think the Tories will win. Not a landslide but I think they will get a small overall majority. But whoever is leader will find it almost impossible to maintain party unity when it comes to deciding what to do about the EU.
  12. Aye , you're right. We should try to avoid all added sugars. Or at least keep our intake to a minimum. More and more medical folk are pushing for added sugars to be classified as "toxic" and are trying to persuade the authorities that foodstuffs containing them should carry health warnings similar to cigarette packets. As you say coke and chocolate are just 2 of the most obvious sources of added sugar. Almost all processed foods contain added sugar which is often completely unnecessary. I mean who in their right mind would want to add sugar to a curry? Yet loads of ready meal curries contain as much added sugar as a can of coke. I'm not just having a go at Coke and chocolate almost all food processors are at it. Lots of folk are pumping their bodies full of added sugars whilst often not even knowing about it. By doing so, there is plenty of medical evidence that they are significantly increasing their risk of type 2 diabetes later in life.
  13. They are one of the major contributors to obesity which can increase the risk type 2 diabetes significantly.
  14. And they all tend to have loads of added sugar. often in the form of corn syrup. The development of a process to convert excess production of maize into easily usable and storable corn syrup is one of the main drivers for the obesity epidemic in the US, which has now spread to the UK as well. Unnecessary added sugar is the main cause of obesity and type 2 diabetes.
  15. Herion in it's pure form is acetylated morphine. In my experience morphine is the best drug ever discovered. I don't think I have ever had herion but it is basically the same as morphine. it is supposed to act quicker and needs a smaller dose. In my experience morphine seems to act almost instantaneously, so acting 3 times quicker than instantaneous doesn't seem to be of much benefit.
  16. It could be that being a "lazy " contributes to all the conditions that you mention. Could be a chicken and egg situation? I don't know if a drug exists which combats lazy bastarditis.Could be my next project.
  17. It might make folk think twice before picking up the fat coke?
  18. That works out at £36 a dose. Somebody is making a hefty profit out of that. I could make the stuff for a fraction of the price in my garden shed.
  19. It's always good to see you furnish the board with a bit of humour.
