I am staying in Vilamoura for week from the day before match and plan to play golf.

When you consider how the team performed in the qualifiers when Brown was our captain its a no contest, Brown every time. Can't remember many if any games when Fletcher was captain, when the team should so much quality, organisation and endeavour.

Glad to see Darren has recovered from his illness and getting regular football at his new club. As regards his selection in the future I am not convinced. On Wednesday his play was neat and tidy, albeit maybe that's what was asked of him. Against better teams we will need a great deal more from that area of the park e.g. winning 50/50 balls and more creative. IMO we have others in the squad who can do that much better than Darren, as they have done in previous ties in this campaign.

If we had Hutton in against the Irish on Friday we would have been run over down that flank.....he cannot defend BUT Whittaker did defend and got forward quite a bit, Hutton gets away with murder, maybe because he can't be blamed for bad defending because he doesn't defend.

It will be tight and require Scotland to be at our best to qualify. One good thing from last night was the introduction of Russell and May, both did not look out of place.

Some one who doesn't seem to be getting plaudits is Steven Whittaker. He was a breath of fresh air at right back. So much superior to Hutton. He tackles and wins the ball back, wins headers and get up and down the park and delivers better delivery. More of the same please.

Like most, I booed McGeady but I also had an exchange with a bunch of yobs in front of us who were screaming sectarian abuse. They got upset but were put in their place by true Tartan Army foot soldiers.

The performance of Whittaker last night was the best we've had for many a long year in this position. He tackled and won them, won headers, and got forward when the opportunity arose (and got back ASAP). We looked so much stronger as a unit, defending well and building from the back. Here's hoping we can continue with this back four.

Have you started on the bevy early, no problem with Paris or Irish fans in Scottish end.

Tartan Army on many occasions have been on here looking for away end tickets when we had more fans than ticket allocation. So no complaints here, the biggest example of this was in Paris for the "Faddy" match.

Would go with Gordon, Marshall looked very shaky against Poland and Georgia in parts of both games.

I predict and hope there are plenty of empty seats for the game against England. It is the only way the SFA will get the message that the pricing is way off.
