  2. Would be interested if anyone on the board had seen him play , when your read about the calibre of the man and his career you wonder how he would compare with the modern day players , suspect he would go through the likes of John Terry

    Coldplay

Martin may be a slow starter whoever played upfront last night was going to struggle we couldnt find anyone inside the box with the ball , Not convinced by May yet either but I think Rhodes and Mcormack still have something to offer , but they dont appear to have the required rapport with GS

    Hoolies

Well done to the majority of fans ,sounds like there was less bother at this game than the Irish match had a good bit of banter with some Stoke fans pre match all seemed good company same ethos as TA just guys who love travvelling watching their country, they were looking forward to their Dublin trip week before our apparentley - Football has changed , some of it for the better
  5. Yes every two years - All about progression out team is getting better theirs worse , I think we benefit from the fixture more perversely It reminds our players of the level they should be playing at there is no hiding place ,I think we were competitive last night in spells against a good England performance this probably will give us some pointers for the games ahead where we have to do better without the ball Germany Ireland and Poland We always get pumped out of tournament in the first round too , does that mean we should fear that aswell ? Scotland V England IS International football, its where it all began – dont hide - grow a pair !
  6. BBC seemed to hint Russell could start - not sure why
  7. Just got the last orders email and it got me wondering on what the sales have been like and what the likely crowd will be ? For all the protests about ticket prices I hope the event is a success and that we can look forward to another Wembley trip within the next few years My guess is 44 300 England ticket sales period closes tonight Vauxhall International Challenge Match Scotland vs England Tuesday 18th November 2014, 8pm kick-off Celtic Park, Glasgow The sale period for tickets for the match between Scotland and England officially closes at midnight tonight (Monday 17th November 2014). 8. Genting Casino Sauchiehall Street has a decent bar for late late drinks -open 24 hours good for a late/ early drink and food served right through aswell a regular of mine for games , don’t bother with the tables
  9. Hopefully can add another 4 wins( at least) in the qualifiers to see us into a tournament ! The thing that’s stands out for me is we can’t hold on to winning managers – hope GS will be an exception !
  10. & obviously provokes strong reaction in complete strangers , strange what people are proud of

    Stv/sfa

It was a no brainier not to screen the game highlights on STV and choose something more universally appealing to viewers Scotland highlights would be for a very narrow set of viewers –Friday night is prime time telly, most people actually(weirdly) don’t watch football many are at the game, have itv4 ,have SKY or watch in the pub so the viewing figures & advertising revenue would be limited. STV is not part of ITV they are a separate legal entity with its own shareholders , they control their own programming and scheduling, however ITV and STV have a network agreement so in return for the franchise they purchase 16 million worth of programmes from them STV can opt out of a certain amount and also make or purchase their own content . ITV has made its own commercial decision to pay for England Games , this isn’t paid for by STV Or Scottish tax payers – so nothing to with the referendum (re Bzzzz comment) STV make their own choices football doesn’t feature prominently and you can’t blame them really, SKY, BT and to a lesser extent the BBC have allot of the market sewn up , STV is not really a football channel unless it come with prime viewing figures (ECL) , think when was the last time they had a Scottish league or Cup game featured ?
  12. The SFA deserve the stick they get however fans need to take responsibility for their own behaviour also there were far more Irish than the suggested 8000 “fair” away allocation, the allocation was a mess on both sides .This Irish guys in our Hotel complained they only knew who was getting tickets from their own association 3 weeks prior to the game after the public sale kicked off as they were guaranteed 5% they could have allocated this ages ago ,so they bought tickets in the public sale and were allocated tickets aswell , the spares being sold on to other Irish fans
  13. There we arguments around us provoked by the irish singing the soldier song and one shouting singing your supposed to be at home, whlist I don't mind sitting next to away fans I think they should be aware of where they are and keep a lid on it, had they been respectful there would have been no issue but singing away songs in the home end is stupidity it works both ways! Sure the OP wouldn't be as sympathetic to English fans doing this, same rules apply!
  14. WiLl anyone on this thread feel the same about away fans in our end when Poland come, same principle surely?
  15. We still need two tickets can you send me the link you are using as we have got the sold out message when you click through on the SSC portal or pm if more appropriate
  16. The website says different
  17. See this is covered in Irish Fa General Sale
  18. I think that would have happend anyway given the irish do not have a loyalty scheme , even more reason not to give them extra , also the game has sold out for the last two weeks prior to that the only tickets available have been restricted view. So terms of demand and size of game yes I think it is a huge game for us from my own experience (if this mean anything) I will be meeting up with a number of friends who havent been since the Norway game also I know 2 people who are looking for tickets
  19. Was looking at this and was wondering if anyone had booked up - an option for anyone on 3 points or less - 145EUR Comp beer and wine with a buffet meal and tickets http://www.ticketmaster.ie/republic-of-ireland-v-scotland-dublin-06-13-2015/event/18004C96BF043EA0?artistid=1570244&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=741
  20. Why ? This is a Scotland home game afterall the demand from Ireland should not be the concern of the SFA, obviously from a commercial perspectve we should sell on what has not been taken up by Scotland fans but that should be it. The demand is high from Scotland fans, in terms of interest this is the best/ biggest home fixture we have had for a long while , I would not expect the Irish to prioritise us in the way in Dublin if they want to give us 10% this will be based on their own sales porjections for home fans Also its becoming more apparent the Irish fans (whilst understandably disappointed) do not have have a problem with the fairness of the size of their allocation but more with how the FAI allocate through the old boys and sponsors network leaving the loyal fans to scrabble around for briefs. With the game being at Celtic park this gives them a slightly higher allocation than would have been the case at Hampden aswell
  21. you make a fair point and this is entirely possible , by suggesting there may be trouble with the current lack of segregation they have diminished the chances of a pragmatic approach by the game organizers, in this context the only way for the SFA and more importantly the match controller can cover their own backside is to deny entry to Irish fans . If I was an Irish fan I would be a bit insulted by the lack of confidence they have in their own fans to behave ,
  22. The Irish seem really annoyed at the ticket allocation but for once I think the SFA got this right. Delany's stance appears arrogant, why should we give their fans priority before our fans allocation is finalised, also to suggest the SFA would be responsible for any bother is shit stirring at its worst, seems the only "tension" is comming from them. http://m.scotsman.com/sport/football/latest/irish-chief-warns-of-tension-over-ticket-snub-1-3601046
  23. For the record Bardsley has exactly the same qualifications to play for Scotland as Steven Fletcher
