Sorry to hear about your loss

Have you looked into costs to change names on the flights ? This can often work out costing as much as a new booking as the airline charges an admin fee plus the difference in fare from what you paid to today's cost. Maybe Lufthansa are more accommodating ?

Anyway I hope you get something sorted
