I think I might have misunderstood you - I initially thought you meant all eight of your great-grandparents lived within a 30-mile circumference of where you still live to this day. Now I think you may mean only one line of your family, which is obviously nowhere near as uncommon. (Describing a ‘30-mile circumference’ suggests a lack of understanding of maths though. I’m not sure why you’d choose to describe it in that way - I think you may be getting the parts of a circle mixed up!) No idea what you’re going on about with regards to the phone bill though.

Are you one of the moderators, because that’s pretty similar to the ‘official’ reason I was given, I think?!! I’m sure it was something along the lines of ‘banned for general bawbaggery’ or something like that, which I thought was really vague and unfair. By all means, ban me if I’ve broken the rules, but at least tell me which specific rule(s) I’ve broken to merit a ban! As I mentioned elsewhere, I usually read these threads around the time of international games and this time I saw a horrible misogynistic post that someone had written, so I opened an account in order to contact the moderators and try to have the post removed. So, you have the person who wrote that awful post to thank for my return.

I think they work ok as a statistic in basketball, but aren’t the best of statistics in football, where there are a far greater variety of ways to score a goal.

It’s probably my daily stress release, to come on here and call out mistakes. Ironically, it seems to cause others no end of stress though! I think football fans on the whole talk a huge amount of utter nonsense, particularly with regards to the biased opinions and unrealistic expectations they have towards their own team. I like to try and challenge those opinions, rather than letting them go unchecked.

I’m aware of that, it was the ‘playing regularly every weekend’ part that I was disputing! 10 is a bit of a stretch, even when including players who make substitute appearances.

No they don’t. ’Coming down to the last game’ covers all sorts of permutations - needing a win, needing at least a draw, needing to avoid losing by three or more goals, etc. ‘Needing a win’ is obviously a subset of ‘coming down to the last game.’ Not the same thing at all.

The first tournament I vaguely remember is the 1992 European Championships. The first major finals tournament Scotland competed in, that I have any reasonable knowledge on, was four years later, in 1996. I don’t feel qualified to make a selection on the poll, as I don‘t have enough knowledge of all the squads to make a fair decision, as so many of them were before my time.
