Left full back and right full back are the exact same position other than playing on the left suits a left-footer better and playing on the right suits a right footer better...if a player is equally adept with both feet then he can comfortably play either full back position without any fuss. The fact Tierney and Robertson struggled at right back is because they are so reliant on their left foot

I get what you're saying, but at the same time the 'progress' in this position, which has been a real worry for such a long time, is staggering...we have gone from SOD and Liam Palmer and virtually no one else, to having SOD and Patterson and 3 or 4 real up and coming contenders in the guys you mention, Ramsay, Ralston, Ashby...and in my opinion Hickey, who looks to me to have every tool required to play just about anywhere on the pitch, two-feet, athletic, quick, good awareness, comfortable on the ball.
