  1. Huzzah! The voice of reason! If I were you I'd keep quiet about that one, lest you be chased by POF Villagers wielding pitchforks and torches. Apparently people are happy with keeping the status quo and underachieving. I don't think people here like change. What did Einstein say? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. People are obsessed with four at the back because it's traditional, even though we've been failing with it for 17 years. How many years of failure do people need to be able to be open minded to try something new?
  2. If you think my reply showed a lack of decency, you should take your own advice.
  3. It also came up the formations at the start of the match. Both started with a three, according to Sportscene.. Oh, you mean decent like: "You have a great evening replying to yourself and resurrecting old arguments👍🏻👍🏻🤣" Yes, well, if you give out derision don't be surprised if you receive it back.
  4. What does that even mean? Our players play with a 4 all season long, is that correct? So, our players should be good at it, right? Wrong. None of our players play at the very top level, fighting for major silverware. (Apart from Robertson) Stupid? Yes. Let's keep doing the same old tried and failed system and don't even attempt to think outside the box. Maybe I should break it down: International level is a massive level. We have average players. When an average team plays at a massive level they must bridge the gap somehow. That "somehow" is playing more players in a position where we are vulnerable. Our defenders simply are not good enough to play in a four at international level. Just because a core of our players look good against St Mirren and Hamilton all year round doesn't mean four is our best system.
  5. So, they did analysis on Sportscene of an entirely different Aberdeen? Watch the coverage on the bbc iplayer. Scroll to 30 mins. If you want to say that Aberdeen played with four at the back, fine, email sportscene and tell them that they're wrong. I've mentioned it once or twice in my tenure here, if you're really that interested then you can look for yourself, if you aren't then you won't. And no, it's not Celtic or Rangers, before you jump to any conclusions that would make me feel sick.
  6. The main argument of us not playing three at the back is that our players don't play with that formation at club level, well, when half of the SPL teams play it in a set of weekend fixtures, it's time to put that argument away. Yes, coached well almost all formation can work, but we've had what, seven full time managers in the past 17 years? (McLeish twice) Two of them were top defenders, and yet we've qualified for zilch. Either none of those managers can't coach our defenders in those years to be successful with a flat back four, or our defenders simply cannot cope at international level in a four. I think it's the latter.
  7. I guarantee, if Nuno Espirito Santo (Wolves manager) was in charge of Scotland we'd qualify for whatever was in front of us. Take the top 6 out of the EPL and they're comfortable the best team in the league. Is that all down to formation? No. It's down to the players being drilled and knowing their job, inside and out. It's about organization and it's about team spirit. All that is down to the manager. But you're right, a formation is dictated by players available, which points quite clearly to the fact that we can't play with a flat back four, and we haven't been about to since the early 90's. It's up to McLeish to have the balls to pick a three and stick to it. He was a top defender, surely to god he can give the players the information needed to adapt. A defence of Souttar, Bates and McKenna has immense potential.
  8. Is that why I bumped it? They just lost 3:0. I suggest that you read my post. I didn't even mention Livingston. However, I did note that 6 teams out of 12 used three at the back. Not bad for an obsolete formation.
  9. That sounds good. You don't want or need it? Obviously. it's football, it's not life saving surgery. Nah. Just noting that I noticed the kid on his debut. And I brought up a fact, despite the fact that some people think no one plays with three at the back anymore. I'm sorry about that, is it against the rules? If so, I'm awfully sorry. I'm so ashamed of myself. How can I possibly make amends?! That's rhetorical. Meaning there's no need for you to reply. I can see why you're so spikey, though, what with you not even knowing what formation your team played. Yikes.
  10. Watch Sportscene. On the three at the back system, Match of the day also did an analysis of Wolves's usage of it.
  11. Oops, my bad, he is injured. But no, Sportscene did about 5 minutes of analysis on the three at the back system that Aberdeen used at the weekend.
  12. Nah. Just pointing out that I noticed the kid first.
  13. This week Fri-Sun a total of 6 SPL out of 12 played with three at the back. Including McKenna, Berra and Souttar. Not back for a formation that "No one uses anymore"
  14. Another impressive performance at the weekend. 2 Goals and a run from right back straight into the heart of the opposition defence which almost resulted in an assist. Jake Hastie is definitely one to look out for. Just 19 and a winger. Looks strong and quick.
  15. Well, I hadn't even thought about the mineyband.
  16. Umm.... to be honest I can't think of any. It just goes to show how little the English regard our football. McKenna seems to have a mature head of his shoulders so I think he sees his immediate future at Aberdeen, as he's pretty much guaranteed game time. Hopefully he can improve and reach his potential, if he does then I think his future will take care of itself. I think he's got four more years on his contract, is that right? I don't see Aberdeen letting him go for less than £10million and I can't see the lad asking for a transfer.
  17. The same was said about Van Dijk, I even some so-called experts (pundits) saying that Van Dijk would be found out in the EPL. Not saying that McKenna is as good as Van Dijk, I'm saying that some people over-rate the EPL. Take the top 6 out of the league and it's average, and for the amount of transfer fees and wages paid it's embarrassing.
  18. You can get your work published elsewhere unless you enroll your e-book into KDP select. KDP have a 90 day period of exclusivity.
  19. That's so confusing to me. Dinner's usually the biggest meal of the day, not something you can pack in a plastic box.
  20. You've seen what Hamilton have done by appointing Brian Rice. Such an inspired appointment and one that could see them relegated. Hib's no doubt appoint someone from the mediocre-management-merry-go-round. It'll probably be between Stubbs and Lee how-does-he-keep-getting-jobs Clark. My money would be on Stubbs. Hibs under Lennon stood toe-to-toe with the Old Firm whenever they met, they'll probably be told to go into their shell by the next manager, which is a shame.
  21. Really I've never heard anyone say "dinner break". Even though it's noon?
  22. It does? Since when is dinner the second meal of the day? If you're at work do you have a lunch hour or a tea hour? It's Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and then Supper.
  23. Christmas dinner. Wait, what? I just looked back. You call means in chronologic order: Breakfast, Dinner, Tea? It's Breakfast, Lunch, dinner and then supper.
