  1. Good interview. He's had a good season, I'd be disappointed if he wasn't in the next squad. I wouldn't be surprised, though, McLeish probably doesn't even know about Jack Harper. The journalist could've worded the ending a little bit differently, though: "Gol de Harper, the kid who came in a caravan."
  2. Haven't seen the goal yet. I think that's 4 in 5. I bet no one is mocking me for championing this lad now. He's a cert for the under 21s. He's definitely got a swagger about him, along with power, pace and a knack of scoring. As I said a couple weeks ago, he's one to watch.
  3. Yep. Right winger. Awwww, you like me, you really like me!
  4. You'd actually be surprised by how many professional players end up playing in an entirely different position to the one that they played at youth level. At a higher level you go the more versatile a player will be. Look at McTominay. He played as a striker at youth level for United, he's played in defense and also in the middle of midfield. Ethan Hamilton played on the left wing for United, now he's a central midfielder. And look at Holland. Young players in Holland aren't assigned a position, they play them all over the park, which is why Dutch players have always been so versatile. They also do it in Belgium. In Scotland we seem obsessed with positions, instead we should look at things with an open mind. We restrict ourselves by saying that players can only play in one position. Look at Kimmich, in the last Euro Championships. At left back he looked like a winger, tearing left backs apart in every match. Now he's an anchorman. The point is, we must try something new, as keep doing what we're doing just is not working.
  5. As I said, Phillips has played in that position for a chunk of the season, so he's used to it. People forget that Craig Burley (Midfielder) played right wing-back at France 98 and was excellent. Professional players can play in a multitude of positions.
  6. Well, right wing-back. Honestly? I don't know. Phillips has been playing right wing-back for WBA a chunk of the season, so I'd give him a shot.
  7. Tierney isn't affective at right back, because he's left footed he always has to stop and get the ball on his left. And keep in mind, Tierney does have the potential to be a better left back than Robertson, so playing Tierney at right back isn't an idea that I would have. We've seen the transition of David Alaba and Joshua Kimmich being swapped from full back positions to anchorman positions, I think Robertson could easily do the same.
  8. I'd agree, if we didn't have a certain Tierney.
  9. Good question.I think it all depends on the formation we're going to use. It's either a 3-5-2 or a 3-4-2. Personally I'd play a 3-5-2 with the Fletcher being up front and Fraser and Forrest having free-roles. And with Andy Robertson as the anchorman. I'm not going to go into why I think Robertson would make a brilliant anchorman, as I've explained it dozens of times, suffice to say, he has all the assets to excel in that role.
  10. Oh. My. God. I said I'd trust Snodgrass more than I would trust McGinn or McDonald in the anchorman position. Did I say that I would play Snodgrass in the anchorman position? Not really. I'd actually play Robertson as anchorman. Oh wait... "he's not a holding midfielder/he's never played that position in his life"... which is what I'm expecting. I actually don't think we have a good anchorman in our squad. Hopefully McCrorie gets games under his belt and improves. McTominay is decent, but he needs game time. Really? Don't you want us to qualify?
  11. Do I have to repeat myself again? I'll do it till nauseum until you get it: I'd trust him playing in that position more than I would John McGinn and McDonald. Why? McGinn has a maddening propensity of giving the ball away and McDonald is a big lump. Snodgrass is the most technically gifted player in our pool of players. And that being said, I'd definitely trust him in that role. When Robertson was at Hull they likened him to a young Gareth Bale (Left back, Left wingers and attacking midfielder). They thought that he would've turned into a left winger. So yes, Robertson could probably play in any outfield position. The better the player the more intelligence they have and therefore the more adaptability they have. Look at James Milner, he's intelligent enough to play in several positions and excel at them.
  12. What on earth are you talking about? Yeah. I'm sorry, but I don't have time to "wind up". Whatever I say is 100% the truth.. according to me. When did I say that I play Snodgrass in the anchorman position? I said that I'd trust him playing in that position more than I would John McGinn and McDonald. And yes, if push came to shove I would play Snodgrass as an anchorman. He has the intelligence and the skill-set to play there. Pirlo began his career as an attacking midfielder and was moved to the anchorman role. What is it with people here and their insistence that players can only play in the one position?
  13. I assume that you're talking to me. In terms of technical ability, Snodgrass is better than most of our midfielders, so yes, I'd trust him in an anchrorman role. Did you just say that McGinn is an anchorman? The modus operendi of an anchorman is to maintain possession, John McGinn has a tendency to give the ball away. There is no way I'd trust McGinn in an anchorman position. I'd trust Jack, McTominay, but not McGinn.
  14. I think Scottish football is losing its mind, if it had its mind in the first place. Tom Boyd has come out and said claimed that it would take 100 years to balance out the injustices against Celtic. This is taking conspiracy levels to an entirely new level. I've listened to Boyd commentate on about a dozen Celtic matches, so I'm not surprised by him saying that. In every single match, when Celtic don't get a decision, he claims that the referee in question is bias towards Celtic. Every single match. I used to like Boyd as a player, for Motherwell, Celtic and Scotland, but as a person (and a commentator) I think he's been in Glasgow for too long. He should definitely get out more. Read books and educate himself. There's several loonies from both sides of the Old Firm, but I think Tom Boyd is the craziest.
  15. Snodgrass is better than McDonald and Jack combined. Also, McLeish and his coaches should keep an eye on Ethan Hamilton. 2 goals in 4 matches for Rochdale (I know, it's only League One). Having seen him a lot for United's under 23's I'd definitely be thinking about fast tracking him into the full squad, ala Darren Fletcher. He can tackle (Although, he goes to ground too much for my liking), he's strong, he's got good range of passing, he's skillful and he can score. In my opinion he's better than Scott McTominay. He reminds me of a Nottingham Forest Roy Keane.
  16. Yes it does. I watch a lot of Championship football, and it's about the same standard as the SPL. Burke has never looked good in the English Championship because he's never played consistently in that league. Darren Moore is a bit of a wimp as a manager. I was watching a WBA match a month or so ago, the opposition had a man sent off, instead of bringing on Burke (or another attacking player), he subbed on a defensive midfielder. 100% serious. If Celtic can get Burke for £10m then I'd buy him as soon as possible. He was immense potential. He's lightening quick, he's strong as an ox, and his touch is better than some people give him credit for. People look at him and think he can't be bothered, as he has a lethargic look about him, but he just doesn't like tracking back. It reminds me of Mourinho's handling of Pogba. Pogba does his best work in attacking areas, and yet Mourinho asked him to track back and be a water-carrier. That isn't Pogba, and it isn't Burke, either. (And no, I'm not comparing Burke with Pogba) Burke cares more than he shows. Look how dedicated he's been with our under 21's. He got demoted from the full team and yet you didn't hear a peep out of him. Instead he showed up and gave his all for the under 21's. All Burke needs is game time and a manger who believes in him. If he can have games under his belt, a manager who trusts him then he could go far. The cliché of "there's a player in there" is definitely true about Oliver Burke.
  17. I'd disagree with that. Nurnberg aren't great but I would still expect them to beat the bottom EPL teams: Huddersfield, Cardiff, Burney and Fulham. I think if the Bundesliga teams went head-to-head with their EPL equivalent, there would be more German wins than English ones.
  18. Don't know where you got that from. Hamburg are playing right now and they're pretty much playing their strongest team. Bates is doing well. They're playing a Bundesliga team and they're playing them off the park.
  19. And with all three being 22 years old. It's time to play all three together.
  20. That's actually what I was going to say. Apparently Hibs have received 100 applicants. Right. It'll be John Hughes sending in 100 copies of his CV. As I stated before, Chair(wo)men in Scotland are unimaginative, so it'll be between Hughes and Stubbs for who gets the Hibs job. Either that or they'll get the Ouiji Board out and summon the spirit of Stewart Baxter.
  21. No. No. That's not the one that I'm thinking of. The Einstein quote that I was looking for is: "Three at the back is the way forward for teams with limited ability"
