  1. For just a fraction of a second I find myself celebrating until I realise I'm cheering a goal for the Villa! Damn you john McGinn
  2. Armstrong came on after 55 minutes. Sounds like they were up against it though.
  3. Didn't see the Europa matches last night but Tierney is coming in for high praise from lots of sources. From the Evening Times: Kieran Tierney Superb from start to finish. His pace was too much for Rosenborg, his passing McStay-ess and the left-back’s crossing deserved so much more. Solid at the back as well. Even went close to a goal with a long-range effort. Different class. 9 For all the talk of who is better, Robertson or Tierney, maybe we'll get to point in the next few years that Scotland will have Europe's two best left-backs?
  4. He's good but England have plenty of other options. Maddison for starters. He'd have very limited chances.
  5. Saw that Burke wasn't on the bench. Do you know why?
  6. And you'd have to respect that. England would be galling though.
  7. I'd like to see Henderson get a call up. Getting into the midfield is hard at the minute but if he finds himself in Serie A (which he could have done this summer according to the reports) then it becomes impossible to ignore him.
  8. To see the praise being handed out this weekend (and has been building for a while) to Fraser is heart warming. (https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/sep/17/premier-league-10-talking-points-from-the-weekend-action). Fraser, Robertson, Tierney, McKenna, Souttar and McGregor. What a core of a team that's emerging!
  9. But he has played that position for Bournemouth. But you're right. We need him creating either on the right or left. O'Donnell's performance this week's given us hope that we don't need Fraser back there.
  10. What's the thoughts on Gemmill? He's doing a good job and so what's the potential of him as the eventual replacement for McLeish?
  11. I do recognise the original point that was trying to be made. Perhaps clumsily made. As ParisInAKilt says though the manager should be able to tell. If they clearly don't care then cheerio.
  12. I 100% agree and take huge offence at the original post. Born and raised in England but representing my country would have been something I would have considered the high point of my life. We live in a society that is changing rapidly but Scots have always had a mix within them and have moved across the world. There may well be English-born players who have spotted an opportunity but what gives you the right to decide who is and isn't Scottish? I tell you what, the shit I got at school the day after that Costa Rica game is enough for me to be certain of what I am. 😋 We're all Scotland's story and We're all worth the same.
  13. Really pleased with O'Donnell tonight. Problem solved?
  14. I think Tierney's more a threat than Robertson.
  15. They're right on the telly. He saw the post was about to hit him
  16. On top. Need a better final pass. Robbo's been a disappointment
  17. Jeez I don't know. I've been calling for 3-5-2 but I'm doubtful after that. Fraser was wasted today. Also I'm not saying 2 up front. I'm saying Griffiths was isolated.
  18. I don't think they did too bad in the first half. We've been let down by errors of concentration, having Griffiths on his own, and the continued problem at right back. That and Belgium are fricking brilliant. Still think the future is bright.
  19. I think (and I'm just guessing) that he does have an answer, or at least some ideas, but it's not politic of him to say. I can't think that a man that's clearly given great thought to development doesn't have those ideas. However he has no control over the club's so his influence is limited. Anyway, thank you so much for sharing. A brilliant interview.
  20. Agreed. Reading this forum you'd get the impression that we have a team of old men. There is the founding of a team that will be there at the next world cup campaign and beyond.
  21. Tierney, Souttar, Robertson, McTominay, Fraser and McGinn are all likely to start on Friday and all 24 and under. McGregor, Griffiths and Forrest are hardly over the hill whilst McKenna and Hendry and out injured. Not sure you can say there is an obsession with experience over youth. It's good to have the experience of Naismith and Mulgrew whilst bringing those youngsters through.
  22. Thanks for that. He was good at Cov but i didn't think he'd be pushing for a place in the Scotland squad. Anyway, good to hear and it re-states what other Blades fans have said. But i don't think It's laughable he's not been picked. Of the two you mention I don't think many round here would consider Bannon and, to be honest, I've not seen anything yet that suggests McDonald's value to the squad. The fact that he's not been picked is due to the others ahead of him mainly at Celtic or the English Prem: Armstrong (Southampton), Fraser (Bournemouth), Cairney (Fulham), McGregor (Celtic), Forrest (Celtic), McTominay (Man Utd), McArthur (Palace), Snodgrass (West Ham) and then in the English Championship McGinn (Villa). No problem with a Fleck call up but he's in a field of another half a dozen fighting for that place.
