Playing in a euros is the highlight of players careers and think of all the Scotland players of the past 20 years who haven’t played in one. Hickey will be desperate to be in the squad and the fact he’s on the grass now means time is on his side to be fit in time for it.

If Paterson is a defensive liability we would be better off playing Ralston. The only other right backs I can think of calling up is Max Johnston and Ross Mcrorie.

If Paterson isn’t getting regular game time we need to put someone in there who is solid and reliable. I’m sure there a few in the SPL who would do a job.

I would give Ralston a go on Tuesday night. He’s pretty solid and quick and might be needed if Hickey isn’t fit.

He also said he might make it he’s not ruling him out yet. If he’s fit in May and playing games in that month then he’s in. If he doesn’t then he won’t be in.

I actually think you could fit Hendry, Souttar, Fraser and Maclean all into the 23. Would mean dropping Hanley though.

He’s been looking really good for a few weeks now in centre midfield. Likes to run forward with the ball from deep in that position which is different to our current centre midfielders.

I’m hopeful both will be fine in 4 months. Both of them out would be a complete nightmare though and will make it difficult for us to have any impact in the euros.
