  1. Was listening to the radio on way back from game and I think Tom English hit the nail on the head..... we are mentally weak, have been for a long time! No doubt there are players with the ability out there, but once Russia started to assert themselves on the game the team completely crumbled. Even Robertson looks a complete shadow of the Liverpool player we see week in week out. Only when Christie came on did we start to play more on the front foot again. The first 15-20 mins were looking so promising as well. And am sorry but O’Donnell is so far off the pace at that level, it’s scary. Jack in at right back until Tierney is fit.
  2. For game time I would imagine. The whole left side did well last night. Patrick Reading, the left back, hasn’t been tested properly defensively yet though. George Johnstone had a good game too. Hornby and Porteous will be back for the Croatia game.
  3. I watched the game too.... what was wrong with the way they played? Very hard to judge against a team with 11 men behind the ball the entirety of the match. If Hornby and Johnstone had been playing, Scotland would’ve probably scored 5 or 6.
  4. It actually astonishes me that some fans think they know better than the manager who has been a top coach over the years and knows the player’s abilities (and limitations) more than anyone sitting in the stands. This is no the time for Champ Man tactics!
  5. And if he gets the opportunity to bang one in against Russia or Belgium and takes it......that’s the perfect way to show he cares!👌🏼
  6. Gilmour on the bench for Chelsea today
  7. I would be very surprised if he was, but here’s hoping.
  8. Just noticed Billy Gilmour wasn’t involved with Chelsea u23s last night. No mention of an injury............
  9. Good post. This inferiority complex we seem to have has become ingrained in us over time. How many of us are guilty of, because I know I have been in the past, of dismissing our chances before a ball has even been kicked..... especially when we go away to the likes of Georgia and Kazakhstan. You can sense the tension on the pitch never mind in the stands. We must be the only nation that goes into these games already defeated.
  10. Yeah am surprised at the lack of game time he’s had at Southampton. Especially when other fringe players were being used. He’s better than just a squad player.
  11. Just noticed McBurnie went off at half time for Sheffield United....... hopefully not an injury!
  12. It’s nothing to do with O’Donnell playing for a “diddy team”. For what it’s worth, I think Taylor is good enough for the international set up. He’s just unfortunate we are so strong in his natural position. But as for O’Donnell, a decent left sided player with any sort of pace or trickery will tear him a knew one. Jack knows the position, is better at reading the game in my opinion, and is generally a far better footballer. One of the form players in the league as well. Its not an ideal situation but I would have Jack ahead of O’Donnell all day long.
  13. Ayeeee but not necessarily his fault. Depay is a top quality player, and Jack kept him well shackled the majority of the game. For me he’s a more solid option than O’Donnell.
  14. Friendly up at pittodrie a couple of years back
  15. Agreed....and the one time he did play for Scotland at right back he did pretty well. That was against Memphis Depay who is no bad, if I remember rightly.....??
  16. Christie’s runs in behind will give us a different dimension in attack. The build up to Forrest’s second goal against Israel is a great example.
  17. I am more disappointed not to see Fletcher in the squad. Striking options are thin to say the least
  18. Won’t be the starting XI but would play it.... Marshall Jack Hanley Mulgrew Robertson Forrest McTominay McGregor Fraser Christie Phillips/McBurnie
  19. Now now don’t be sarcy! Could it not be possible that a genuinely world class midfielder in Gerrard, could have coached Jack’s game to another level?? And as I’ve said before, he could be a solution to our right back problem.
  20. From what I’ve heard, Hickey can play either side.
  21. I agree with you, I would have Jack in ahead of O’Donnell at right back. I just don’t think O’Donnell is good enough. But the chances of Clarke dropping O’Donnell who served him so well at Killie, are slim to none, especially against the likes of Russia and Belgium.

    Keepers

Would put Marshall, Gordon well ahead of him. For me not good enough. The best active Scottish goalkeeper is still McGregor, but can’t see him coming back.
