  1. Guardiola and Man City have put their trust in Foden and now he is flourishing into England’s best player. Hopefully Tuchel puts the same trust in Gilmour once he gets to know him better as a player and a personality.
  2. Yeah I meant to add it’s Tuchel that doesn’t see him as physically ready for that position. But obviously other managers in the EPL do. At the end of the day, he needs to be playing senior football to toughen up, there is only so much you can do in the gym.
  3. Tuchel has so much as said he’s not physically ready for the EPL.......... so why the f**k would you not let him go on loan?? It’s bizarre, imagine how much it would’ve developed his game going to a Southampton or Leicester for the remainder of the season. He may not have started every game but he would’ve at least got plenty minutes. He wasn’t even in the u23 squad yesterday. Been hung out to dry.
  4. It’s the perfect storm. New manager comes in right at the end of the transfer window, needs time to assess the squad so Gilmour doesn’t get his loan move, Tuchel opts for experience and the team gets the new manager “bounce” and starts performing. Gilmour doesn’t get anywhere near the team, and is reduced to just training with the first team rather than playing games at a crucial stage of his development, when he’s already missed months with a knee injury. And all this at a time when he is pushing to get into our Euro’s squad. It’s a footballing travesty if a talent like him misses out and the likes of Calum Paterson get picked. Gutted for him.
  5. Gilmour not in the match day squad for Chelsea again, and that’s with Havertz out injured. It’s baffling that Tuchel has knocked back loan bids for him when he’s got no intention of playing him. In his own words, Gilmour needs to work on his physicality...... so why not loan him to a senior club. It’s effectively messed up any chance of him getting into our Euros squad, which Gilmour can’t be happy about.
  6. Islam Feruz 25 year old FW ehhh???🤷‍♂️
  7. I agree it’s a serious problem. One issue is that much more emphasis has been put on possession based football and coaching the more technical attributes. Also, the game has evolved to the point most teams now just play one up front, whereas when I was growing up almost all teams played 2 up top. There is generally a much smaller pool of strikers to choose from.
  8. I’ve mentioned this in other threads, but the problem for Hornby is that he isn’t a natural striker. He is more suited to playing in midfield. Very talented, much more so than the likes of McBurnie and Burke, but not being able to work out his best position might hinder him, unfortunately. Same can be said about Dapo Mebude at Rangers. We’ve got an abundance of technically gifted midfielders coming through, but a serious lack of natural goalscorers.
  9. Apparently Juventus are lining up a bid for Billy Gilmour. Can’t see him leaving Chelsea, but imagine the lure of playing with Ronaldo and being managed by Pirlo?
  10. I genuinely believe that Gilmour is ahead of Jorginho in Lampard’s plans. Just a case of getting him back up to speed.
  11. Great to see Billy Gilmour back as part of the first team squad for Chelsea’s game against Sevilla tomorrow night. Chelsea have got an embarrassment of riches in midfield at the moment so it’s testament to his ability and how hard he’s working to get back to match fitness. Hope he gets some minutes.
  12. If Rangers can sew up the title in the next two or three months hopefully we’ll see more game time for Dickson, Paterson and King......😜 Add to that, Kai Kennedy has started his loan spell well at Inverness.
  13. First start for George Johnston at Feyenoord. Played the full 90 mins in a 1-1 draw with Utrecht.
  14. Two of our u19 players are on the bench for Norwich in the championship tonight, Reece McAlear (midfielder) and Thomas Dickson-Peters (forward). Both very highly rated. Hopefully at least one of them will get minutes tonight.
  15. F**k sake! I was only asking........ But seriously, if he has no biological tie to Scotland, then am not interested... besides I think his understudy has the potential to be a better player anyway.
  16. Can anyone clarify whether James Tavernier is eligible to play for Scotland or not? Heard a few murmurs that is a possibility? We’re not exactly blessed with talent at RB/RWB
  17. Worth noting the number of absentees from the u21 squad... Porteous, George Johnstone, Hickey, Gilmour, Mickey Johnstone.... all players that would probably start if you were to field our strongest XI at that age group. Its encouraging how defensively solid we’ve been. But we are thin up top.
  18. I know, Sky and BT need to get their finger oot..... cannae believe they’re not covering Celtic’s u15 games!🤷‍♂️
  19. Don’t know if it’s been posted before, but here’s a highlight reel of Barry Hepburn. Only ever seen a short clip of him before.
  20. George Johnstone came on for Feyenoord tonight. I believe that’s his first competitive appearance after impressing during pre-season.
  21. Never said he was anything special, I just don’t rate McKenna. Porteous has played every minute of the season so far for a Hibs side that have started the season well and been solid at the back. Scotland u21s don’t concede many goals either and his leadership at the back is a major factor in that. I don’t think it’s bonkers to say he should be considered.... especially when we are so lacklustre at centre half.
  22. Porteous can be rash yes.... but he’s no more of a liability than McKenna. For me, Porteous is more mobile and better on the ball and he’s a leader. McKenna showed promise a couple of years ago but hasn’t kicked on, hence why we’re even debating his inclusion. He should’ve nailed that position by now.
  23. Let’s just hope the cb debate is inconsequential in a few years time..... we’ve arguably got the best centre half pairing in Europe at youth level in Liam Morrison and Leon King👌🏼 The future back THREE.... King Morrison McTominay 😜
  24. Souttar has never had a consistent run of games in his short career to date.... how many serious injuries has he amassed at just 23 years old? My issue with McKenna is that for a player that showed a lot of promise 2/3 years ago, he hasn’t improved. In fact he has probably regressed. I would sooner have Porteous in there. Also keeping a close eye on George Johnstone at Feyenoord.
  25. Souttar’s career has been blighted by injury. If he had a consistent run of games, there is no doubt to me, that he would be a better option than McKenna.
