  1. I don't know what's going on with this lad because his goalscoring record at youth level for Scotland and Celtic is fantastic. I know all players develop at different stages but Celtic are crying out for a proper goalscorer up top just now to replace Griffiths does this lad not deserve a chance.
  2. That is very harsh to keep panning him with that. His assists on Sunday and his general movement and positional play proved he has got a bit of understanding of what he's meant to do on the pitch. He also seems to be getting better with each game. I don't think I'd throw him into the starting 11 but is a good option from the bench for us
  3. I see Chripper is on a one man mission to ruin every thread on here
  4. Alright mate just booked up for this trip and looking for 3 seats on the bus if possible
  5. Atchison is a right good player, but I think he maybe lacks a yard of pace for the top level.
  6. Ah well hopefully that is the case and Harper continues to get plenty of minutes under his belt. He must be on the cusp of a call up, if anything just due to the complete lack of depth and quality of strikers we have available. The boy does appear to be talented though
  7. Only slight concern is Malaga changed formation last week after being beaten the week before to 1 up front and Harper was dropped. They then went on to win. They have also just signed a Ukrainian international striker, but hey if he is going to progress and become the player we hope he will be he will have to overcome those obstacles. By all accounts he is thought very highly of by staff and the fans at Malaga so hopefully his good season continues. He actually looks like he would fit in very well to our system as well with Fraser and Forrest running of him. He has a fantastic touch and awareness and can pick a pass, could be a good option.
  8. They both played for Hutchison Vale, that is where their similarities end. Cummings had a talent for putting the ball in the back of the net in the Scottish Championship and that is it. He is an extremely poor footballer. His touch and hold up play are non existent. He may score goals in the Scottish Premiership playing for a half decent side but then again he's already had that chance at Rangers and failed. I don't know why this boy was built up because he wasn't even half as good as say Kris Boyd or Stevie Naismith were at that age. I'd rather forget him and focus on someone like Jack Harper who is at least showing some progression. If Cummings can get a cap then Harper should certainly be in with a shout.
  9. Well when you put it like that.... Lol I think I may have just changed my opinion on it, never really thought about it as deeply as that before. Suppose there could potentially be a time when that situation arises. I would say probably more often than not though that is not the case, and it is the case that players are either a) just not good enough to play for their first choice country so play to the rules to pick another country or b) make an un educated decision after being brought up in the narrow minded world of the Glasgow old firm goldfish bowl and pick Ireland coz I'm a Celtic fan n my grandads Irish, which I genuinely believe to be the case with McGeady certainly
  10. Tbh young Dembele has a genuine affiliation with all 3 of his options. At the end of the day he was born in England whether we like it or not so will forever have a connection to that country. Out of the 3 options though I would say that should be the one he has least feelings for. All options are genuine though. Unlike the two Mcs who only played for Ireland through their Grandparents. That rule should be abolished, joke off a rule. Lineage should end at Parents.
  11. Good to hear Hornby is back from his injury now, would love to see him press on and get around the Everton first team, looked a good talent for the Scotland U21s
  12. Some goal from Ethan Hamilton on his debut
  13. I understand where you are coming from, and as I said they may turn out to be good SPL players which Paul Hartley was, but we are looking for top internationals. That's what we all hope they become. Let's be honest we are hoping for more than the next Paul Hartley
  14. If you aren't playing well in the SPL between 21 and 23 you really have to question how far you are actually going to go in the game. Sure they may turn out to be decent SPL players but it isn't likely they are going to turn out to be top international players, which is what we all want at the end of the day. Here's hoping they star for Celtic and Hibs over the next 6 months
  15. Yeah definitely agree with that. This season was make or break for him if he had any international aspirations, started well too but has well and truly fizzled out to not even being a guaranteed starter for St Johnstone anymore. Disappointed by him.
  16. Let's be honest if they both perform well over the next 6 months they will both get in the squad. They have a great opportunity here to show people what they can really do. These loans are probably make or break for them both now to see if they will be internationals or not. If you are a top player in the SPL you have a chance of playing for Scotland. If you don't perform well in the SPL on the other hand... Then sadly they clearly won't cut it as internationals.
  17. This just confirms you literally do not have a scooby doo pal eh. Either that or you have to be on the complete wind up on here. Some of your comments, opinions and ideas are hilarious tbf.
  18. Dress it up however way you like, at the end of the day he failed and that result was in fact the catalyst for Brown getting the sack. We shouldn't have even needed a play off win v England as we f*ucked up the group from a good position, again a failure. And to then use other people's arguments on a point you disagree on yourself regarding our Midfield is pretty laughable. You know, and I know, not one of our Midfielders would have got in the Scotland starting lineup in 2000. In fact only maybe Robertson would have been near the starting lineup. We qualified for a couple of tournaments back then because we had better players back then, simple as that.
  19. Wait a minute, did Craig Browns 'successful' formula not 'fail' to qualify for Euro 2000? Your argument that it is a 3-5-2 formation that had us qualifying for all these tournaments is absolute nonsense, the bottom line is we had better players then than we do now. If a 3-5-2 automatically qualified you for tournaments then everybody would be doing it. Absolute drivel
  20. I'm actually surprised Robertson looked out of sorts playing there as I thought it would have suited him, but you are right he did not look at his best at all playing at left wing back. I'm sure he admitted himself he felt uncomfortable when facing up to a defender with the ball at his feet instead of making runs beyond someone in front of him. ETA.. Tierney is actually better at facing up defenders than Robertson is, maybe we should have swapped them around
  21. I know what your point is but talking about playing a back four 18 years ago is completely irrelevant. If a back 4 didn't work 4 years ago, 10 years ago or 18 years ago it does not mean a back 4 will not work with the group of players we have now. In much the same manner just because playing a back 3 got us to World Cup 98, it does not automatically mean playing a back 3 will get us to Euro 2020. We have have different players to what we had then. A system really has to suit the players you have at your disposal, and a back 3 just does not get the best out of our best players.
  22. Did we not just get ripped to shreds playing 3 at the back away in Israel? Not the greatest if foundations laid there... And by the way I am not against the 3 at the back, I was actually an advocate for trying it but we have.... And it clearly doesn't suit our players as well as a 4.
  23. Agreed, and the 4-2-3-1 coming in from wide positions gives them that freedom
  24. A Daily Record article has a number of young talented Scotsmen ready to make an English Premier League breakthrough in the next few years. We seem to have talent there what are the chances of them coming to the fore, and what ones do you think have the best chance of making it? The List Ethan Hamilton - Man Utd, Fraser Hornby - Everton, Tony Gallacher - Liverpool, Charlie Gilmour - Arsenal, Tom Clayton - Liverpool, Elliot Watt - Wolves, Billy Gilmour - Chelsea 7 Scottish starlets bubbling under in the English Premier League
  25. They play wide, they attack from wide positions. They make runs from wide positions to central positions thus making it harder for defenders to track them as apposed to just standing about in a central position waiting on the ball. There is far more variation to their play when they are out wide as they have the option of making central runs to get in the box or take the ball wide and get crosses in. The 4-2-3-1 formation suits Fraser and Forrest it is blindingly obvious and was actually very successful in our recent games.
