  1. There is a part to this I agree with and something that would worry me in regards the Old Firm. In this country where they would just simply buy the best scottish players to simply fill up there squads to adhere to the rules. To combat that I would say 7 of the 13 Scottish Homegrown players in a 25 man squad in Scotland must be homegrown by your own club. This then forces every club to produce their own. Every top club in Scotland should be producing 7 players through their academy anyway for their squad without any rules, it is not a high number to ask, but this would enforce it.
  2. Are they really better though? In my opinion it is blindingly obvious that they are not. Hearts had two young boys in Cochrane and Mcdonald who looked far better last season than the dross Levein has replaced them with this season. And what does playing these average foreigners over Scottish players actually achieve for these clubs? Where does it get Hearts, Hibs or Aberdeen. If rules were in place for x amount of Homegrown Players in a squad they would still end up with some of the best Scottish players around outside the Old Firm. They would still end up in the top six and pushing for semi finals and finals of the cups. They would still be doing exactly what they are doing now but with the benefit of doing it with Scottish players. It is not rocket science. More Scottish Players playing football gives more chance of Scottish players improving. I'm not saying banish all foreigners, foreign players are good for the game if they are significantly better than what we have aka Laudrup, Larsson. But Peter bloody Haring, cmon eh. The FA have recognised the exact same problem down south and have already moved to introduce the home grown player rule for 25 man squads where 8 must be homegrown by clubs between 15 and 21. This is to be changed now to 12 players per 25 squad must be homegrown by clubs between 15 and 18. This rule must be introduced here if we have any chance of Scottish players coming through on a regular basis. It is not fair to say a young Scottish player is not better than this foreigner or that when they don't even get a chance.
  3. It is a disgrace that Hearts and Hibs can't even manage a team of Scots between them in the Edinburgh Derby
  4. The Caldwells will sort out this mess
  5. And if its a young manager and ex player you are wanting in then a young manager like Gary Caldwell has far more credentials than Paul Dickov. Amassed a mountain of caps, great player for Scotland scored that goal v France has great leadership skills and made a good solid start to his managerial career. Also has Partick Thistle links with Ian Maxwell so could be interesting. Could maybe even have Dickov as his assistant
  6. I am sure there will be a lot of fun laughter and smacking of arses when you and bonny get together.
  7. Aww look at you two tag teaming on the Dickov patter.. how cute. The wee dick I think is more apt actually. The wee dick and his two puny wee balls here championing him for manager. The wee dick will never rise to those lofty heights though unfortunately lads.
  8. Wow no need for the big swear words pal seems like the only one getting a bit upset and tetchy here is you. 😪 I'm sure bonny will cheer you up if you ask him who he wants as Scotland manger.
  9. Are you seriously passing Bonny78 off as humorous! 😂 That is probably the funniest part about this that someone else is actually on his/her level. Imagine having a night out with you two. Sitting having a pint together, spontaneously laughing at each other as each of you take it in turns to blurt out the names of shit ex Scotland players we could have as manager for a 'laugh'. Oh what fun, this game could last forever. Whilst everyone else in the pub is looking over at you, thinking the exact same thing, look at these two absolute wallopers.
  10. bonny78 is also possibly the worst wind up merchant I've ever seen on a forum, I don't think he could even get a bite from Morelos
  11. I'm all for a bit of banter mate but when your sole bit of banter is to say Dickov for manager on every single topic and get a laugh from absolutely no one then it's really time to give it up eh.
  12. This Dickov patter is horrendous
  13. That is interesting as I watched him a few times for Chelsea u23s and Chelseas last tie in the Youth League he actually didn't play that well either. He definitely didn't stand out too much compared to other games I have seen him in. Maybe the higher the level he goes the harder he is starting to find it. A good test for him none the less and still playing above his age.
  14. I don't think it is harsh at all when all the chat from Celtic seems to be about resting him, and then they continually play him and expect to have him rested for international games. Cmon he plays before and after every international week, these 'injuries' he has during international week would never in a million years keep him out a celtic match.
  15. "Central midfield is all about the three players all having balance, one defensive, one box to box and one who can make late runs into the box." McTominay can do it all. 1 man midfield is all we need
  16. As a Scotland fan who even cares about Tierney anyway when he quite clearly doesn't regard playing for Scotland as highly as he does Celtic. Talented player but his commitment to Scotland is way way below what it is to Celtic. Reported again this morning he is already set to be out of the summer qualifiers. We aren't even 4 days into April.
  17. I wanna tell you, I might as well do, about a boy who can do anything! He plays in Dark Blue, his name is Andrew... Robertson, Robertson, Robertson!!
  18. I am not disagreeing about the standard of league I actually agree, but there are some outstanding players in that league more so than in the SPL who look capable of playing in EPL and McGinn at the moment looks like one of them. For us he looks like a Scottish Championship player though and nowhere near EPL standard. Even bottom of EPL players are a good standard. Good enough to be playing in a Euros anyway
  19. I really don't understand McGinn at all, looks class for Villa in the Championship but for us looks like he's still playing in the Scottish Championship!
  20. What an absolute nonsense, top coaching can take players with even limited talent further than they would without. Of course there are a number of factors that come into producing a top class player a lot of which include the player himself talent, mentality, commitment, ambition etc, but without top coaching they will never take their talent as far as they possibly could. If coaching weren't a factor everyone would still be running about like headless chickens in the playground. You only have to look as far as what Brenda Rodgers did with the players at Celtic to see how top coaching can influence a players career and maximise their talent

    New kit

It should definitely have some tartan in it, agree it should probably be in all our kits. Different tartan for each kit would be good
  22. Well if that's allowed I'd be happy with that as well tbh, some sort of rules have to be implemented though. I personally prefer the homegrown player rule though as it effectively forces clubs such as the old firm to produce their own players. A foreigner rule could well see Rangers and Celtic buying and stocking up on other clubs best players to an even worse extent than they have done in the past instead of producing their own. If the homegrown player rule was in effect and it was enforced that 7 at least were reared through their own academy then this forces their hand whilst at the same time allows other clubs more chance of keeping their own homegrown players out of the hands of the old firm too.
  23. You aren't actually allowed to implement a rule forbidding foreigners to play in a squad anywhere in Europe, it is against European Law. Brexit may actually change that in this country but that's another topic. Anyway that is why England got around it by introducing a home grown rule which is open to any nationality but they have to have been trained for 3 years at an English club between the ages of 15 and 21 (they plan on changing this to between 15 and 18) which obviously massively decreases the chances of many foreigners being trained in England between those ages. Cesc Fabregas to use an example is currently 'home grown' in England as he was brought to Arsenal at 16. Now obviously he was actually home grown through the La Masia academy in Barcelona, the FA have identified this flaw and that is why they are reducing the age to between 15 and 18. Therefore in this instance Fabregas wouldn't have been home grown as he would have only been trained in England for two years from 16 to 18. Hope that makes some sense but it is definitely a rule which is the way forward here.

    Next Manager?

Come on now you and I both know the team Fergie left behind were done. If he had left behind a team in their prime then fair enough but there was a massive rebuilding job needing done at Man Utd which is still ongoing now
