  1. Ha, I wondered why Aitchison wasn't in the Alloa squad today. He seems to be consistently good for the national team but just can't catch light at club level. I now doubt he'll make it at Celtic. Probably destined to be a solid spfl prem forward but not much more. Might get a few caps along the way though.
  2. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47247691 Scott Brown 2.92/10 - worst rated Celtic player.
  3. Carrying a few small injuries apparently. Nothing sinister.
  4. 6 goals in 34 appearances, which doesn't sound great - but as we saw recently he works well with speedy wingers and attacking midfielders. Definitely should be in the next squad and would have no problem with him keeping the starting jersey. Just great that we have an option like Burke back in the frame now. Perhaps coming on as a sub might work best for him anyway - tired opposition defenders vs a machine like him? Could be match-changing.
  5. Okay, might have conflated my facts here - but it's still pretty impressive. Seems that: Has been second fastest in the EPL: https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/west-bromwich-albion/2017/09/11/west-broms-oliver-burke-clocks-second-fastest-premier-league-speed-of-the-weekend/ He was 16th fastest in the world in 2018: https://the18.com/soccer-news/fastest-soccer-players-in-the-world-today-2018-edition
  6. Agree. We're being way to shy about this just because he failed to set the heather alight when he got a few caps aged 18/19. I think it was crazy to completely bomb him out the way Strachan did, although I think he might have drifted out of the squad naturally anyway given the 18 months or so that followed (assuming it wasn't his treatment by Strachan that led to his decline in club form). He absolutely isn't perfect, but given the alternatives - Chris Martin, Rhodes, Griffiths, Fletcher - who is?!? We've got a 21 years old powerhouse forward, clocked as 3rd fastest player in the world and now playing and playing well. How's about we use him?
  7. Equally though if WBA played St Mirren they'd probably win 6-0
  8. Another two from Che Adams. Not convinced he'd be hugely better than what we've got but he's doing well this season
  9. "Feruz has seriously failed to live up to his potential following six severely disappointing loan spells with the likes of OFI Crete, Blackpool and even Hibs." 🤣
  10. I was thinking with Edouard and Forrest injured, we'd see Burke on the right and Weah through the middle. Weah was good when he came on against St J but Burke was pretty good too before that.
  11. Re Strikers: Fletcher is the man in possession, so I expect McLeish will trust him to start our campaign with Fraser and Forrest either side again. However, what better sub to bring on after 60 mins than an in-form and confident (hopefully) powerhouse like Burke? The Celtic connection with Forrest would definitely be a bonus too. It'd be great to have these two as main CF picks, and a young talent like Hornby breaking through over the next season or two. As for Griffiths, I have a horrible feeling that we've seen the best of him. He will play again, but I doubt he'll hit the 40-goal a season level again. Also, he probably isn't suited tactically to the currently successful Scotland setup.
  12. I wondered if Burke continues to impress at Parkhead, maybe Celtic might be up for offering someone else to WBA in exchange (was going to say Boyata but he's out of contract in summer I think)? I don't think Celtic would splash out £10+ million for him (unless he's sensational and gets them to the Europa final!) but I could see some kind of makeweight deal being done. Hope he doesn't end up back at WBA to be honest, could see him being sidelined again.
  13. Thanks chaps. If the pace thing is right, then he should model himself on Harry Kane. The story is well-known, but apparently Harry Redknapp saw that the teenage HK was a good sharpshooter who could read the game well, but he wasn't very fast. So Redknapp advised him to buy spikes and overload on sprint training to give himself that extra yard. The rest, as they say, is history. Mind you, Aitchison's Wiki page states that he is an Arsenal fan, so mibbes Kane wouldn't be his ideal role model
  14. This NEED guy sounds good. Is he Scottish? 😉 What has happened with Aitchison? I know he went to Dumbarton on loan, didn't really make a splash and returned early. With Celtic's recent splurge on forward players and Aitchison's absence even from the Celtic bench (even in low profile League Cup games) it looks like he's unlikely to break through any time soon, if at all. Yeah he's still young, but he turns 19 in just over a month so you'd have hoped he'd at least be knocking on the door by now.
  15. Think this is it? https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/2880058/jason-cummings-england-colombia-scotland-rangers-video-instagram/ Hard to tell if it is him TBH, and to be fair it looks like he's just there as opposed to actually celebrating. If it was me at an England fan park with English mates I'd be smiling, saying all 'well done' and the like, but f*cking seething inside.
  16. Could see them bringing him in as a Shaqiri type good quality backup, but they don't really need him and if they did your think it would be now (for the title run in as insurance against injuries etc) rather than in the summer.
  17. You reckon he has a chance of being called up by Portugal? He can't even get a regular game in their top flight!
  18. Looked like a fracture to me. Hope not but it would be fecking typical
  19. The upstairs wall of 'The Raven' in Glasgow is quite possibly still artexed with my jism from that stupidly happy 5 minutes. Get well soon Griff.
  20. For some reason I thought it might be something like this behind the events of the past few months. Hope he gets over this - good that he's at least identified the problem instead of trying to ignore it or play through it.
  21. If/when Fraser drops out I'd call up Middleton as his replacement. He looks fast, super-confident and is delivering for Rangers at league and Euro level.
  22. He went thru this at Celtic too. Took him a season and a half to break in. Hopefully not so long this time!
  23. Hold on, I was being a tube - my tickets are for the main stand!
