  1. Would respectfully disagree with this Livramento is and will be better than Ralston, Ramsey and possibly Patterson. He is a massive step up from Ralston. Ramsey is pure potential. Paterson has done well but number of minutes in the professional game is very limited and no guarantee he will be getting any significant game time while at Everton. Livramento playing at a higher level than all and performing better than all. However may not consider himself Scottish so could be a mute point.
  2. If i was Clarke i would be having conversations with Livramento to see if he considers himself Scottish and wants to play for us - if he did that would be the right back problem sorted for the next decade Gunn is a funny one you would assume your Dad being a Scottish international and i assume a proud Scotsman you'd therefore have some connection or interest in the country. I'm amazed he's not a diehard Scotland fan. However seems to have choosen England and good luck to him. Cant see him ever being a regular in the England squad never mind first team.
  3. One thing i would also hope these PS created were young players who are professional, with the right mindset, attitude and habits. I dont know these players so wouldnt be able to say its producing this but in a more structured and perhaps regimented environment it creates players who live the rigtht way to give them the best chance to be successful in the long run
  4. Nothing like the home support getting behind one of their own. Who needs enemies when you have friends like this. I agree with what you say. Does he have limitations, absolutely but gives his all and thats all you can ask. You cant have a go that the guy was the best in that position but wasnt good enough thats not his fault. Its also arguable that Patterson and Ralston are better options at the moment. Patterson how many minutes has he played at the minute this season, you wouldnt consider him match fit or on match form. Ralston playing in a lot better team, manager and style of football. How would Ralston perform in the Motherwell side
  5. Alan McGregor at St Johnstone i believe Anthony Ralston had a spell there recently (if you count him as a Scotland player, based on No. of appearances)
  6. Out of interest is the only player out of the Ukraine game at the moment Liam Cooper? It seems like everyone else is fit and mostly playing apart from Paterson Jack being back massive positive for us
  7. cut your nose off to spite your face comes to mind I'll be honest dont know if he was injured or not last season but his decision to stay at celtic and fight for his place didnt really work out for him if he wasnt injured In my very humble opinion i think at his age and level of first team experience it would be much better to go out and get some first team football experience at the highest level he could get
  8. Personally I don't see Dembele as Scottish, he's chosen his path for whatever reason and he is fully entitled to do that. If his decision was based on the right judgement and advice is another matter and any discussion on that if fully based on opinion. Looking at Instagram seems very happy in the English camp and good luck to him, made his decision and let him be. I also don't think he will make it to full international scene or will end up playing consistently at a high level in the domestic game so i don't think he would be any key loss. His height will be a hinderance to him he doesn't have the strength or skill to overcome that. I know some may shout at Messi, Xavi or Iniesta but he doesn't have their skill set or ability to overcome that challenge. I also dont think he would make it at Celtic, cant see him getting in their first 11 and at some point in time if he wants to live up to his potential he really needs first team games as according to Wiki only had 7 games and around 112 minutes. At 18 really need more than that i appreciate injuries but still needs to go out and get first team football for himself. To be honest i would be more interested in his brother than him He's chosen England good luck to him.
  9. great to see Jack back i think he gives us something else hes more of a natural Defensive Central Mid player who can add a certain level of steel and protection for us which i dont think is as natural for Gilmour, McTom or McGregor Rangers have 10 games before the Ukraine game hopefully if can get a good run of games and get match fitness, form and confidence back would have him in the squad and will be valuable asset
  10. 2 great goals second was very well taken I really like his work ethic on the third for qpr - clears the header at the front post then sprints (some impressive pace) to get into the box for the third nice to see him in some good form which the playoffs coming up
  11. Appreciate your comments and thoughts and lot of valid points you make My point would be who is better then him - lets say Gordon is unavailable who are you having ahead of Marshall and why i personally dont see any candidates that would be a better choice (agree that this depends on him maintaining his role as first choice keeper at QPR this season which is not certain) McLoughlin - Barely playing first team football and really never played at a decent level Clarke - Confidence must be shot after the season, no international experience and not played at a level higher then the Scottish premiership Kelly - Couldn't make it at QPR Struggle to see anyone else after these, im not saying Marshall is a high quality keeper who should be there on his quality im suggesting Marshall should be there because he's better then the rest. More experience, playing at a higher level then the rest and i would suggest better then the 3 keepers listed above Unfortunately our goalkeeper position is one of concern we dont really have any obvious natural successor to Gordon in the long term, no one that you would say would be international class
  12. In my very humble opinion that is total madness - who are you suggesting should be in the squad as our 3 goalies. After Gordon and Marshall we have no goalies with any substantial international or European experience. After Gordon and Marshall the quality of our goalies drops massively, would have Marshall all day over anyone bar Gordon by a country mile
  13. Fully fit squad I think Ralston and Welsh will struggle for game time unfortunately Welsh i think has good potential has the attributes to do well in the game and a run of a couple of seasons playing first team football at a good level would do him the world of good sadly cant see that at Celtic
  14. I see Leigh Griffiths has been released, 31 years old should be in his prime. I remember at the end of Strachan's era for us the guy was on fire. At his age he should still have 3 to 4 good years at international level left but unfortunately pi$$ed it away for one reason or another Ive ranted about this before but the lack of professionalism in certain aspects out our League structure and game result in us facing an even harder challenge then we have. You look at the strikers that have had potential and then just wasted it and never realized their potential. Riordan, O'Connor, Griff, Cummings etc not saying they were going to be world beaters but could have been much better than they were if they had the right attitude, mindset, behavior, work ethic etc. I would love to see some of the training sessions at some of our Premier League teams I wonder how many stay late to practice on their skills, how many review their previous games looking for weaknesses they can proactively improve on, how many proactively go and self develop through reading books on leadership, communication, mindset etc. I imagine (have no fact about this) they basically turn up do the session laid on for them and go home no passion or commitment to developing their game Positive is from a national point of team i think we have a manager who would not suffer fools gladly and has brought and developed the professionalism of our national team.
  15. My thoughts exactly. I think of McTominay as a great character a leader in the making, great physical attributes in pace, strength, presence, hard worker will give everything, committed a team player etc but I also think of McTominay as never being truly convinced when he's been in the Scotland shirt and not sure if he will excel in a position or a player that can do a decent job in a few positions. I don't think he's a great defensive midfielder, he's not a creative midfielder and I don't think he's a great box to box midfielder who will score tons of goals, yes he's scored in the last 2 but there the only 2 this season. 17 goals in 180 appearances is hardly Frank Lampard territory. Great player to have in the squad, is certainly a good player but with our current results and very recent performances in the middle of the park i dont know why you would look a changing the personal, the formation has worked for us and the players of Gilmour, McGregor and McGinn done awesome. The takeaway isnt it nice we're in this position of talking about should a Man Utd starter be in our starting 11 after 6 wins on the bounce - the momentum in terms of results and performance has been great and the quality of the squad has certainly improved what a time to be a Scotland fan.
  16. watched the highlights of the Sunderland game and was impressed with Stewart seen a few highlights of games (no full games so couldn't pass a strong judgement on the guy) and he looks promising 25 years old decent height seems to have some decent pace and presence as well as good movement off the ball As many said would be great if Sunderland could get promoted and he had a full season in the Championship and if was scoring goals and performing well for me at that point should certainly be seriously considered Fingers crossed can continue to progress for us
  17. Played Under 18's game for you & O'Neil and McCarthy asked him to play for you
  18. If only Rice, Grealish & Bamford didnt realise they were English
  19. I'd almost forgotten Burke existed, i remember watching Eng U21 vs Sco U21 live and watching Burke and just absolutely disgusted by his lack of effort or interest in that game - its a shame he had all the physical attributes but lacked the effort, football intelligence and a lot of footballing skills - however will always be grateful for his last minute goal against Israel
  20. For me would be in the 23 man squad i would play 3-4-2-1 and of the 4 players i would take forthe 2 behind the striker i think he gives you something different also gives great adaptability could play a couple of roles
  21. i personally dont think we have a strong enough squad to be isolating any players - a couple of injuries or players missing for other reasons and we would need a player of Frasers ability Personally i would have liked to have seen a more diplomatic engagement with the player behind the scene. A friendly but direct private conversation to better understand his commitment to the squad I appreciate on the outside his commitment to the country looks suspect however he has turned up many times especially when we weren't so good and results were tough and when you look at his reaction to scoring a couple of goals in the last campaign looked over the moon. So i dont get why he would try and create issues for himself when were only 2 games away from the WC i dont quite get it
  22. right foot as well, appears to be very good on both foots so would be a valuable member of the squad as could cover both left back and right back Other day watched a few YT vids of his highlights looks decent but still a long way to go however awesome that he's playing regular first team football at a high level - got him in squad in place of O'Donnell
  23. Elliott Anderson on bench for Newcastle today, don't know if through injuries/absents or through performance - interesting guy switched between us and England wouldn't be sure how committed he is to us though However great to see on the bench at 19 Fraser starting i still think he offers us value
  24. and Ben Johnson who can play right back - would be great to see Ashby getting a loan in Championship in Jan
  25. Great discussion going on here really enjoying it and aren't we in a fortunate position that were talking about 2 very good players and who should be in For me the question isn't who's the better player its who plays better in our team, formation, tactics and compliments the other players in our starting 11 - at the moment i think it would be slightly unfair on McTom as he really hasnt been tested and given the chance on a regular basis in Mid, i don't know that stats but would assume he's probably played more this year in a back 3 rather than in mid However i would say McGregor has done great with gilmour and really compliments him that i wouldn't change it IMVHO
