  1. I was being sarcastic i would have thought that would have been obvious when i used the words Lee & Erwin in relation to a scotland national squad
  2. Go on then what has Naismith done at International level - i must have missed that As a striker which both are employed as you cant argue that Naismith is better in that position then Griff, surely
  3. If you think about it who would you call up as a replacement, scary thing is i dont think there is anyone you really could who is fit and in any shape of form Anyone know how Lee Erwin is performing in Iran?
  4. I think we'll miss him massively, he's a class above McBurnie, Nasiy and Russell, he can make a real difference. Most worrying thing for me is 1/ Statement gave me no confidence that he wants to be back i may be reading too much into this but possibly a bust up with Big Eck 2/ Where is this trend of players choosing which games they can attend. McArthur (i backed his decision originally but looking back on it i may have been wrong), Snodgrass trying to duck out before (he wouldnt make it in my squad anyway) and now Griff - is this players not fancying playing for Scotland or Big Eck
  5. After pushing him so hard last year and giving him buckets of praise and chances its been a polar opposite this season no real opportunities in CM and then this strange pushing in at CB last 2 games
  6. i see the Isreali striker scored against Celtic twice tonight didnt watch the game so dont know if he had a good game but hopefully someone in the Scotland camp has had him watched as hes scored a few goals this season will be a threat a week tonight
  7. Jock has had a cracking start to the season formed a great partnership with Hamish "old timer" McSporran Get them both called up
  8. Im not saying the info below means anything but just thought it was interesting Out of the current squads selected this week the % of players born outside of the country they are representing is Wales - 48% Rep Ire - 43.75% N.I. - 32% Scot - 13%
  9. i see no Oliver Burke again, dont know if injured if not hes looking well out of the picture at the moment
  10. any links to highlights would love to see it, Gilmour doing well down there but still a long and difficult road ahead for him but a promising start
  11. I think we need to go out with the mindset of winning this match Israel not a great team New manager who has very little management experience and played 2 and lost 2 with Israel Bad record at the ground played 6 won 2 and lost 6, lost the last 3 at this ground Last 9 games lost 7, drew 1 and won 1 - played 9 scored 3 of which 1 was a pen and a last min goal to draw against Moldova at home Some key players missing through injury Marciano and Bitton as well as a couple of there abroad based player If we win this i think it puts us in a real strong position to win the group i'd go for the below McGregor McKenna - Souttar - Tierney O'Donnell - McGinn - Armstrong - Robertson Naismith - Griffiths - Fraser I think Souttar best passer so would play him in the middle and let him wander a little bit Fraser i think better suited to the left of attacking 3 and Griff best finisher out of 3 so would play him in the middle Also i think McGinn offers us much more than McDonald however would be worried about being a little bit lightweight with McGinn and Armstrong as the centre 2 but as you say if you attack them i think there midfield would be close to their defense Looking forward cant wait for the game, as long as we get the win dont care about the Portugal game result
  12. when is the squad announced for the next 2 games
  13. watched the highlights on MOTD so only commenting on those small snapshots but didnt look comfortable in that role and that's to be expected playing in a role he's never played in a formation the team rarely plays with players are shot of confidence Hopefully he gets some more opportunities in centre mid where he's better suited
  14. i looked at their starting 11 and bench and i think he is going to have a struggle on his hands getting much game time - would be interested to know if hes injured or just out of the picture
  15. that was my exact thoughts while watching match of the day - hes a quality player in great form we have to make sure we utilise it I was thinking of possibly a 3-4-3 with him on the left hand side of the top 3, however this would leave us light in the centre of midfield but i think you could take that risk against Israel and Albania
  16. Genuine question but does the singing the anthem mean anything at all - personally i used to think it did and thought all players should have their arms around their team mates belting the anthem out - ala Brazil style - however i've heard a few ex international footballers ,Gary Neville i think was one, talking about singing the anthem and saying he found it more beneficial staying in the focus zone rather then singing I think its more important that the fans belt the anthem out rather then the fans it sets the tempo for the players and lets the opposition know they are going to be up against a passionate and loud crowd
  17. Explain in what way playing for Scotland brings up a players profile. If it was England possibly but Scotland not a chance I would love to hear how it brings their profile up and why how they would benefit from it - please explain
  18. Is this a wind up or is it just someone not knowing what they are talking about
  19. is that a statement, a question, a point, a review of events Im not sure what point your trying to make
  20. Yeah McBurnie and Phillips care so little they flew to South America for a pointless end of season tour and Philips cares so little that he regularly turns so to the squads
  21. Genuine question as i may have missed it but has Hornby discussed or shown an interest in switching to England He seems pretty passionate on the pitch and in his celebrations
  22. Are you suggesting he couldnt have an injury that keeps him out for 7 to 10 days
  23. I really think we should be winning all 4 games in this group both Albania and Israel are teams we should be hoping to beat I though Albania would be better then they played on Monday maybe had a bad game but they were awful - however i think our pressing and quick passing put them under pressure from the start I read a couple of comments from McLeish about flexibility of formation and style and i think this 3 -5 -2 formation will work well against pot 3 to 6 teams and will help us overcome the problem we have had over the last x amount of campaigns of putting the Lithuanias and Georgias of this world away. However against pot 1 and 2 teams i feel we would get caught out using that formation and would have to be a bit more defensive minded But great game against Albania hopefully we win the next 3 competitive games (dont care about result or performance against Portugal) and that would give us great momentum and give us a lot of successful experience with this new team format Looking forward to the future
  24. Under Strachan we could have possibly got a draw, or a win or lost - or maybe not even played the game or any friendly games - or maybe played a different team in a friendly at a different location at a different time The outcomes of what could have happened under stratchan are limitless
