  1. Sounds a bit shit for that one team. I am guessing gaining promotion from league C to B is even worse because you can easy finish second in league B and miss out on a play off meanwhile the league C winners get a play off spot having won their group playing absolute shiters. I suppose we benefited from this when we were in league C but it does seem like moving up a league can have a chance of biting you in the arse further down the line.
  2. Hes gotten the best out of average players. We have a slightly better squad strength than previous years but he has still had to rely on some average players who play spl or english championship. His main striker is hardly even prolific in the english championship. Hes had to rely on guys who played for motherwell or livingston in big games. Hes grinded out good results when it matters and played good football when possible.
  3. So do teams that finish bottom or second bottom of the league A get a play off spot for these euros? If they dont then it seems a bit pointless and unfair to be in league A when poorer teams in leagues B, C and D get play off spots.
  4. Norway have potential to be decebt side. Most if the teams in pot 3 are average/poor. I would like to avoid ireland as home nations games can be like derby matches.
  5. I think thats what happens but tbh i am not totally sure on how it works. From what i understand we had a chance of a play off spot by finishing second in this group depending on who qualifies automatically in in the euro qualifying groups etc
  6. Never said i wanted to stay in league A, just not sure theres huge advantages in terms of getting a play off spot. I am guessing it may help us with getting ijto pot 2. Tbh i have not much knowledge on how the play off spots work for the world cup in regards to the nations league so i will just leave the discussion for another time. Lets just enjoy the fact we have a euro play off spot and we are in pot 2 for the euros. Its been a great international week for us and the players and manager need massive credit for what they have achieved.
  7. Dont understand why ppl do that based on a couple of poor results when overall the progress has been good under clarke.
  8. All very good but would we get a play off spot for finishing bottom or second bottom in league A which being honest theres a good chance we will. These games have been great and its brilliant us topping the group because of the pot2 advantage and the play off spot to fall back on but being in league A next nations league is surely a disadvantage in terms of trying to get another play off spot. Either way we have done great but it just seems like going up a league might reduce our chance of another play off spot next time.
  9. Great result tonight but can anyone tell me any advantages to being in league A. I know we get pot2 from winning this group and we get our play off place but our next nations league campaign will be very tough and it could be a struggle to get a play off place from it.
  10. Great result under the circumstances. Into pot 2 for qualifying could be a huge help.
  11. Gordon Ralston hendry gallagher hickey Mcgregor jack Armstrong mcginn christie Adams/fraser If adams hasnt recovered then fraser is the only realistic choice for upfront.
  12. Burke would be an obvious choice considering he lives right next door to poland but i am guessing its a bit late to call up anybody. I would put fraser upfront if adams and dykes cant make it.
  13. Tbh buddy i am not wanting to get into a lengthy discussion about wether the provos are justified or not in their actions. I am not really a fan of the ira chants but i can understand that alot of irish view the ira and the pira as organisations that fought against british rule and theres always going to be irish ppl who are proud of that. I would rather not hear it but thats life and i would rather not hear scotland fans making comments about fenian bastards etc. Personally i never heard anything like that and i was out drinking before and after with two irish guys decked in irish colours. Everyone i saw seemed well behaved for the most part.
  14. Epl clubs snap up youngsters like doak all the time. They buy lads like doak with the 1/20 chance he becomes good enough for the first team. Fair enough doak does look special and playing scotland u21s football at 16 is impressive but hes still pretty much unproven at any kind of level. League1 is poor but if this kid is the real deal then he should be able to go there and shine. I just want him to succeed and if that means playing lower league football then so be it. Hes not going to get in the liverpool first team for at least a couple of years and playing epl youth football has never been a succesful route for our players. Let him play half a season league 1 rather than the likes of chelsea u18s. League 1 has seasoned pros who are under pressure to get results and he will learn more from that imo. Then next season put him to an english championship side and see if he copes at that level. Very few 17/18 years olds get into epl sides nowadays. Theres just too much money and they can fill their benches with top talent from around the world.
  15. It would be madness to chuck doig in at centre back. Hes way to young and inexperienced to face a good international team like ukraine in a position he hasnt much experience in.
  16. Not sure i would say the original IRA were unsuccesful. Most of ireland got its freedom. Also were they not more of a 20th century organisation? If your suggesting i am one side of a cheek then your grossly mistaken. I dont support celtic, i am not a catholic and i am not particulary fond of the glasgow irish who i find to be disgustingly rude about my homeland. I am just arguing facts here. The IRA are not a religious organisation and scottish fans in here being being massively offended by ireland fans singing or chanting about an organisation who literally laid down their lives for irish freedom is strange. Irish fans shouting about the IRA is not what i want but i can understand its going to happen and to not get too pissed off over it. The reason leek munching bastards has no relevance is because scotland didnt have huge waves of welsh immigration and we dont have massive football clubs who were formed by welsh ppl and have tens of thousands of welsh diaspora following them every week. Every man and his dog in scotland knows that tattie muncher and fenian bastards is a term that your typical scottish loyalist or unionist will use against celtic fans and its something i would much rather not see at our games. I aint particulary upset by it as i aint that sensitive but its definitely something i would like to see less off. I just find it strange ppl in here make excuses for it as its something that might discourage celtic fans and ppl of irish heritage from going to scotland games.
  17. I already said i dont like it and i would prefer they didnt sing it but its not a direct jibe at us whereas fenian bastard or tattie muncher is. Ideally i would prefer both sets of fans dont indulge in these chants or insults but i can fully understand why the irish love the original ira and everything they did in the name of irish freedom. Every nation loves their freedom fighters. Perhaps if we had some more(or even one)freedom fighters we would not be such a subservient nation of bootlickers.
  18. Wow you guys cant be serious lol. Using words like Tattie munchers and fenians is not the best image for our support to have. Its embarrassing and makes us look like a bunch of northern irish loyalists. Theres loads of ppl in the scotland support with irish parents or grandparents. Cant be very nice for them to hear that. Thankfully i heard none of that and i was sitting right next to the ireland end.
  19. Easily yes. He has had good games against better opposition. Wheres this confidence in mckenna and hendry coming from? 2 good games is not evidence that they are suddenly baresi or maldini. I am happy mckenna and hendry played well together but we should all know by now that our centre backs always have one or 2 shocking performances that causes us to question who should start. Hanleys a very good english championship level centre back. Hes proven that he can cut it at that level which is our level in terms of centre backs. Thats the reality of our situation. If we had 4 or 5 epl centre backs then we could maybe afford to leave hanley out but we dont. Personally i would keep hanley as back up as he is experienced and has played well for the most part under clarke. His form under previous scotland managers should be partially discarded as we have been a mess for large parts of hanleys international career. The guy was a victim of being thrown into the deep end of international football at 21/22 because he was playing epl and we thought he must be a potential star if hes already playing that level.
  20. Yeh most of our centre backs have had terrible games. If we got rid of centre backs every time they played poorly we wouldnt have any left. Hanley has done well up until the last round of games. Getting rid of him based in those games is over reactionary nonsense. Mckenna and hendry have had terrible games for scotland but have been good these last two games. Hopefully they keep it up but knowing scotland and our defence then a bad performance is usually just round the corner and we will be back wondering who is our best centre backs and who should start.
  21. The original IRA were not an organised crime gang. Its debatable wether even the PIRA were as well. Personally i aint very keen on the ira chants but the original ira fought for irish independence and freedom and its only natural that many of the irish support want to glorify them and chant about them. Also how is IRA chants religious? The IRA have never been a religious organisation.
  22. They can sing what they want. We are a subservient nation who deserve mocking from real actual countries.
  23. Bound to be some irish(actual irish) in the home end. I am getting my ticket from an irish mate who ended getting tickets for the away end and didnt need the home ones.
  24. Just our luck to have a game changing player who is fragile and cant play half our games.
