I fancy Aberdeen for 3rd this season. I know they won last week and did alright in Norway last night but I have a feeling that the Naismith/McAvoy tenure isn’t going to go well. Hibs are up and down like a prostitutes knickers so who knows with them. They could be anywhere between 4th & 7th imo!

No he doesn’t. The Kane deal will more than double Spurs alleged transfer budget. I think Hatate is the only Celtic player Ange would come back for. Now that he has a bit more moulah to play with I think he may well do so. Even if he doesn’t, it looks like Caicedo might be off to Liverpool which will probably mean Brighton sniffing about. Hatate has looked and sounded like someone whose head is already somewhere else all pre-season. He’s either been tapped up or told by his agent a move is coming. I’m already resigned to losing him even if no one else is. As long as we have suitable replacements lined up it’s fine but as I mentioned earlier, this window is getting increasingly complicated for us and things done in haste sometimes don’t go the best 🤷🏼‍♂️

Fantastic performance from Joe Newell who is a player I’ve always liked. It’s about time these teams rewrote the script in Europe. I’d fancy both to go through now, although nobody would be surprised to see them make heavy weather of it!

Now that Bayern and Spurs have agreed on a deal for Harry Kane I would fully expect Ange to come calling for Hatate. What looked like a pretty straightforward transfer window for us back in May could be set to get increasingly complicated 🤔

I agree on Hatate but we’ve already got plenty of gaps to plug before you even get to replacing him. Lots of rumours eg Livakovic, Solbakken and Antonio today but nothing concrete. The jambos will be playing Rosenborg. There’s a bit of a Scotland v Switzerland vibe going on with the rest what with the Hibees off to Lucern and the huns facing Servette. Assuming the huns take care of their tie I think I’m right in saying Servette could be potential opponents for Aberdeen as well. I wouldn’t put money on any of them the way things have gone in the past but you would surely think that all four have a decent chance of progressing against that backdrop. I watched the first half last night and although they looked a bit ropey early on it was a skoosh case in the end. As I said after the first leg all’s well that ends well 👍

My first proper look at the team post Ange last night as well. The first thing I noticed was that inverted full backs has gone (although Taylor slipped back into it a couple of times accidentally 😂). That’s probably as clear a sign as any that there’s still work to be done on the training ground. Some of the new players showed up very well. Holm and Nawrocki looked steady enough and Yang looks potentially quite exciting. The other Korean boy Kwon had a shocker though and caused no end of problems in the first half. I’m going to put it down to trying too hard to impress as he doesn’t seem to lack in confidence! Youre right about Europe though. We are still 3 or 4 quality additions away from being more competitive there. I’m hoping that the rumours of us trying to hijack the Livakovic deal are true as we definitely need a new keeper. Joe Hart has done well for us but he has been howling with the ball at his feet pre season. If we go with him as no1 this season he will cost us at some point. The other two keepers on the books just won’t cut it. edit to say: I asked a Rangers fan I work with how he thought they were shaping up. His reply was as follows ‘this boay Cifuentes better be fuckin good or we’re in bother!’

What Aberdeen are doing here is perfectly sensible I.e having flexible segregation so as to allow flexible away allocations. It means they are more able to meet supply vs demand. If more clubs followed suit I wouldn’t have a problem with it. I still think the governing body should legislate for minimum away ticket allocations though. Remember what some of them are doing will affect everyone eventually. How many tickets did Aberdeen get for a crucial game at Tynecastle last season? I can remember seeing some complaints on social media about their allocation.

Supposedly Dermot agreed a net spend of £35m with Ange when they were planning for this summer and the new manager will be aware of all that. So, I expect we’ll be very busy very soon. The defence badly needs upgraded and I would include a new GK in that.

We haven’t really started yet. I would attribute that to Rodgers taking some time to assess what he has. We’ve signed a couple of prospects and look set to add another couple from the K League but haven’t made a start on the first team ready players Rodgers has been talking about. I’d expect us to be very busy over the next few weeks once the squad get back from Japan.

I like Henman, he gives some good insight and comes across as a decent guy. Castle, on the other hand is a complete and utter wanker! It beats me though why the BBC pay McEnroe so much money yet don’t use him for the final 🤷🏼‍♂️
