  1. Just to lighten the mood a little....I just showed my missus the above post and she said "well they should just get back to supporting Sweden" - I think she misunderstood "trolls"
  2. There appears to be two distinct camps posting to this thread:- True Scotland Team Supporters. The relentless loyal tribe that make us proud of who we are the world over. And Those that are obviously on here by mistake. The clue is in the title lads - "The Tartan Army" if yer no behind the team yer in the wrong place. One or two posts have actually said they cant wait until Eck fails so they can laugh. Whit !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Settle down Caledonian Craig - "he'll have my full backing" and "positivity" you must be on the wrong site/thread !!!???
  4. Do you mean this thread ???? I hope that no one is reading it. Some of the comments are just embarrssing. Basically between us we've ruled out and slagged off about 50 potential managers. As if we are in such a great place to be picky. I'm old enough to remember big jock leaving leeds who were then a top team to come and manage us. We're no in that position. I was gonna, out of mischeviousness, suggest Dalgleish but realised that he simply wouldn't be anywhere near good enough for so many on this site. And well his managerial record. Yeah maybe your right.....(if you want the stats I'll forward). What happened to all the great banter on here a few years ago. Now it just feels like a medium to slag fellow Scots. Surely what we can beat the likes of England with is pride and passion. That is all I want in our manager. Oh yeah and loyalty......that thing that is usually reciprocated. But not in this job.
  5. Moyes........ Do you think the SFA are gonna match what a premier league manager gets paid ?. Despite a lot of eejits illogical ravings over the last campaign there is only one man for the job and he is a mile ahead of anyone else out there. In a different league:- Someone who WANTS the job. Passionate. Loves and treats us the fans like heros (well us any time we've met him abroad). Who the players love and respect (unless they don't follow what the gaffer wants and are then rightly side-lined) Puts Scotland and the long term ahead of anything else. Isn't afraid to stand up to the SFA Blazers. Doesn't kowtow to the press. Why don't the blazers have (for the first time in their lives) the balls to say they made a mistake and beg Gordon to come back. Win or lose the guys given me more pride in the team than we've had since the qualifying days. I really understand the passion and disappointment (I was there in Slovenia and too in Georgia (BTW I started to writing the cities but WTF I still cannae remember how to spell them) which prompted many to say we should get rid of Strachan but what about a bit of humility and intelligence in realising he's the best thing we've had (considering the players we have) we've had for years. Lets unite as a forum and get him back ! Don't anyone kid you. Regan sacked him. He was going to go but was persuaded before the meeting by some of the best names in the game to stay. He them walked in to get his cards. See You Next Tuesday S. For the first time in 50 years I was going to stop going to Scotland away games, Thankfully they got rid of the top of the hideous spot now we just need to get rid of the puss underneath ! Aye
  6. Accent thing - it's a matter of choice. Ive lived (for my sins) in England for 20 years and my acxent hasnae changed. I think excluded due to percievwd "favouritism" is sometimes misused instead of "not the right attitude". You cannae have a devisive squad. We have suffered from that in days where we should have done better - maybe WGS remembers Argentina. I know I am in the minority about WGS (as I think he is a true fan and he has been brilliant when you meet him at away games + who else is gonna be better and willing to do it at what the SFA pays vs English clubs) but you have to give any manager a bit of slack on making difficult selection decisions based on attitude as well as form.
  7. What about representing Scotland by getting the crucial Davis cup matches moved to Glasgow ?
  8. Totally agree ! I see he's got a ticket for the game and will be there.
  9. I get that Marky and dont disafree. My thread was about an absolute winner. One of the few we've had for years ! And look at the posts !!!!
  10. Fn right. I nearly quit it last night. Until lately I used to laugh out loud at the banter on here. Especially before away games. When we travel we know our limitations and party no matter what and can laugh at ourselves. We all want more but cmon at least keep the fun.. Utterly depressed last night at some of the stuff posted on one of the few threads I have ever started. That said thanks to a lot that posted being equally frusttated at some of the comments. Even when we as a nation have something to celebrate some want to Pi$$ on our own parade.
  11. I couldnae agree more with Anders - It was just an idea to sing about him as he is a very proud Scot and huge football fan and it's a long time since we've had a no.1 in any major sport. 20 years ago who would have put money on Scotland having a Wimbledon champ, Olympic champ and world no.1 tennis player before the English ? I put the thread on just as a suggestion as I was pretty proud of OUR boy yesterday and am more than happy to go with the flow but some of the posts on this have been, as Anders says, "embarrassing" - are we never bl00dy happy ? He is getting panned by some for wining the Davis cup with his brother under the guise of team GB. What was he supposed.to do ? Not compete? Should he no have played in the Olympics too ? FFS A SCOT - winning those and we're still ln happy. . He came out with the "anybody but England quote" which believe me a lot of Englanders absolutely hate him for. Even leaving the referendum out the lad simply cannae win..
  12. Can we no come up with a decent chant or song around Andy being number one ? The die hard English supporters really dislike him because of the comment he made in banter. He received dogs abuse. Surely we should celebrate his achievement. He likes his fitba and I bet it would go down a treat !
  13. Andy no. 1 !!!! Another thread was looking for new chants or songs for Wembley. Surely we can do one around Andy ? As a lot of the die hard English fans dislike Andy because of that comment it would be fun and a bit of revenge for the abuse he received?
  14. Totally totally agree with you mate. This site, up to a year ago, and all the banter at the away matches made me laugh so much and be so proud of our attitude of "even if we lose we are gonna party and have fun". We had sensible expectations. There now appears to be so many threads negatively focused. We are all passionate. Even all the critics of WGS cant accuse him (even if they want his head) of not being at heart a Scotland fan who, even if he gets things wrong, wants the best for us. Lets just get behind the team. We are lucky - I believe most of our team play for the jersey. Other nations aint so lucky.
  15. Bigfathagiz (yer post 9 hours ago) - excellent !!! Made me laugh out loud !!! I've actually now got this strange vision of a full Wembley with the TA singing Abba songs like Dancing Queen whilst watching Scotland play in Pink Shirts. Not quite reviving my memories of big Joe, McQueen and Kenny in 1977 ! Mind you it would be quite a laugh to see the reaction of the English to us singing a medley of Abba songs !
  16. Duck tours still going - I've been twice - braw fun especially if it's a bit choppy !!! Here you go:- http://www.londonducktours.co.uk/
  17. Chief - if your looking for a show for you and your wife try the book of mormon. Went two weeks ago with my missus - seriously outrageous and laughing out loud the whole way through. No cheap though. Like you taking the wife to the game - something I swore Id never do as i like the lads trip bit but fair play shes wearing tartan and supporting us although shes english.
  18. Personal opinion from one who works down here:-- Russell Square - why ? There is nothing there. Hyde Park - In November ? Not sure why ? Knightsbridge on southside has great boozers but not sure they'd be great for TA. Covent Garden / Leicester Square - even with the Christmas market on for an early November Friday the TA will take over. There may end up being no central point but the whole area will become tartan (a bit like Amsterdam at the last Holland game). With 17,000+ of us there we will take over the whole area and the banter from pub to pub will .be great. Trafalger Square - it is remembarance Sunday not Friday but can we not use all means to get the TA who are in Lodon to be there and observe the dignaty and silence at 11 am. And persoally after that I think if we do that we should enjoy the location as usual. The remembarance is at the cenetaph not Trafalgar square General - not English bashing (my wife is one) but with the clash with 11/11 couldnt they have volunteered some ideas ? Maybe they have and I've missed. Top tip - those arriving in to Kings Cross simply cross the road to St Pancras and go to level one. Fantastic location where Eurostars leave from and really good boozer "the John Betjamen". London prices though. Cheers.
  19. As have been contacted to ask which Highlander (as there are two) - it is the one per Malky24's earlier post at Garnisongasse 3. The guy is putting on specials etc for us. http://www.highlanderpub.at/index.html Me and my pals are meeting up with a couple of lone foot soldiers between 1.30 and 2pm on the Saturday when we drop our bags at the Radisson at Herrengasse 12, Vienna 1010. Only having one there as it's pricey but anyone welcome to join us / kick off from there. Suggestions of pubs / route between there and Highlander would be appreciated. 4 sleeps !
  20. Me and my two pals are in 13 as well. We're intending to go kilted - is anyone else or is that a daft idea ?
  21. HoddenGray. See earlier posts. Me and my two pals get in Sat morning will be in bar of Radisson about 1.30 to 2. Prob just the one there as no cheap but BrissieBairn says will meet us there and you are more than welcome. Plan will be - well no plan except beer and be in Highlander well in time for match. Byrne2711 - we will still be in Airport bar "johann biereck" when you arrive. Im on eurowings stansted flight arrives about same time as yours. Pals on queasy jet from ed gets in a little earlier. Expect we will be there until 12.15 / 12.30 ish.
  22. Great stuff. Really appreciated. Especially the bottom few winning words !!!! Chortle.
  23. Byrne2711 - cannae remember exact flight times but pals arriving at about the time you are from Edinburgh on the Saturday and me about half an hour later from Stansted so we're meeting at "Johnann's Biereck" pub in the airport - been there before - it's a cracking pub by airport standards and even allows smoking. Plan to have just one there (OK maybe 2) then taxi to centre - feel free to meet us there and cadge a ride ! All welcome !
  24. Yup ! It is the one on Herrengasse. I think the other one is closed now. See you there. We will be kilted with the scotland away tops - the one that looks like a deckchair !!! Anyone else more than welcome.
  25. BrissieBairn,- Three of us arrive about 11.30 Saturday at Vienna airport - we will have a quick pint there as flying in from different places and plan to dump our stuff at the Radisson which is right in the centre at 1.30 to 2pm (I know the Radisson sounds a bit pompous but we got a stupid cheap rate 6 months ago!!!). If you want to meet up with us at the bar there between 1.30 to 2pm Saturday be great - we'll just have the one there as it's expensive before heading out and ending at the Highlaner for the match. Obviously open invite !
