  1. As I've said in another thread.. Throw money at Michael O'Neill to move from the north of Ireland. He will 100% set Scotand out to grind out results
  2. As an outsider looking in it always amazes me how Scotland in football just lack the belief and confidence required to get over the line. I'm convinced if you lot got a decent manager that played to your strengths then you'd start to grind out results. Scotland played responsibly well on Friday but there's zero chance Ireland or N.Ireland would've conceded three goals. I'm not saying we would've won but it certainly wouldn't have been 3-0. Scotland need a game plan that suits your strengths and you need to have a steely resolve. The outright hilarity of the TA's reaction to their Barcelonaesque passing the ball around against Germany and getting three points against us showed a weakness in the mentality. The job wasn't done. It was nowhere near done and then the collapse happened. I'm not saying this stuff to have a go but it's just a second set of eyes from the outside giving their opinion. We (Ireland) find ourselves in a fantastic position. Top of the group with Austria, Wales and Serbia all yet to visit Dublin and we're four points clear of Wales.. We're not getting carried away yet though. We don't play pretty but we're getting the job done. Scotland need to look at how we set up and how we manage results. If I was the SFA I would throw all sorts of Scottish Sterling at Michael O'Neill to leave N.Ireland. I'd have zero doubt he'd get Scotland back to the promised land. As a fellow football fan I'd urge you all to not stop believing. Three years ago we went to Austria and got humiliated 3-1 and the future couldn't have looked worse. Three years later we've since enjoyed a decent European Championship and automatic qualification is in our hands with four home games out of six remaining. If you cant believe in yourself Scotland then what's the point?
  3. To think this is the much hearlalded Scotland team of Sep to Nov 2014 which many Scots gloated about. How times have changed. Get a manager that plays to your strengths, changes the mentality and grinds out results no matter how bad the performance is. Simple
  4. Why always compare yourself to Ireland? Since 2009 Ireland have made a World Cup play off, qualified for Euro 2012, Euro 2016 (getting to the second round) and have beaten Germany, Italy and Bosnia in the past year. At the moment they're joint top in qualifying. It's quite clear they're better at the moment and have been for some time. Matches aren't won on a piece of paper by comparing which player plays for which club etc
  5. We got 43,000 in for the Georgia game on Thursday night. Cheapest tickets were €30 and the dearest around €80. Most empty seats in the premium section. How much do the SFA charge in Hampden?
  6. Ireland got 10 points from Germany & Georgia. Scotland got 3 points. There's the issue for you lads in the last group. All this despite Scotland playing incredible fluid attacking football with a better squad than Wales, Ireland & N.Ireland at their disposal. Dropped points to teams like Lithuania at home is the reason why you won't qualify or get a play off spot. In recent years Wales & N.Ireland haven't dropped many points at home & Ireland always find a way to beat lesser nations at home despite not playing well a lot of the time. Scotland need to change their mentality. It's simple as that.
  7. I think you'll find not beating Germany like Poland & Ireland did along with not getting 6 points against Georgia like Poland & Ireland did was also the reason for not qualifying.
  8. And Georgia were already out of qualifying when you lost to them. We play to our strengths. If you think our goals against Sweden and Italy came as a result of one dimensional hoofball then you need glasses.
  9. In the last 9 months Ireland have beaten Germany, Italia, Bosnia and should've beaten Sweden. They are now looking forward to a second round game against the hosts. Not bad for a lucky "pish" team that Scotland are better than.
  10. Thanks to all the decent TA who have wished us well. Wish you were with us travelling to France
  11. To put it into context if Scotland managed to find their way to France you'd be hard pushed to find somebody over who wouldn't be cheering on the Scots. Sadly that's not the case over with a lot of you in the UK
  12. Say what you want but there's an anti Irish sentiment in parts of Scotland which no doubt probably influenced Aidan and James becoming more proud of where their family came from. Twice I got called a "Fenian " on the walk home from Parkhead last Nov. I can only imagine the shite those lads had to put up with growing up in Scotland.
  13. Ach they play pish football, WGS has the TA playing 1970's Brazilian football. I cannae believe a pish team like Hungary are there and not the TA
  14. They had a simple choice. They can't help if they feel more Irish than Scottish. I'm sure there's countless people born in England who feel more Scottish than their land of birth,
  15. Well said and sums up my opinion. I don't really get how a winner in the 90th minute can be described as lucky. Was Scotland's win at home to Georgia lucky given the nature of it? Before I travelled to Glasgow last Nov l genuinely thought there was goodwill between the two nations. How wrong was I. A sizeable minority of the TA seem to be the most bitter football fans I've come across who make out that the WGS team plays like Barca under Pep. Rose tinted glasses must be worn by a good few lads on here. As a result, they flat out refuse to complement Ireland whatsoever, instead coming out with "they're pish playing long ball" Look at Robbie Brady, Shane Long against Germany and our goals against Georgia away. All great well worked goals so go back to whatever bigoted town you live in and watch Scotland's great moral victory against Germany from last year. I fully believe a lot of the people wanting Ireland to get "pumped" are sad bigoted arseholes. Sadly Scotland and Northern Ireland seems full of them. Both places have fantastic people but there's an anti Irish sentiment from a lot of people.
  16. Was the first or second goal you scored not from a long ball into the box?
  17. We're pish though and play cave man football. I'd rather make a couple of nice passes and get 5 points from Poland, Germany & Georgia to be honest with you.
  18. I just want to offer my genuine condolences to Scottish fans. Last night must be a bitter pill to swallow but you'll bounce back. If "Wee Gordon" sorts out your defence you can certainly challenge for a play off in the next campaign. Not all but I think most of you got a little bit carried away with the optimism last year over the fact you lost to Germany and drew with the Poles and managed to pass the ball a bit which was understandable to be honest. To the genuine Tartan Army fans I'm genuinely sorry and would have loved to have drank with you in France (if we make it obviously) However to the bitter Scots on here who calls us "pish" (4 points against the world champions.. Yeah we're "pish" alright" I find some of the bitters completely judged us on one game in Parkhead and just decided we weren't up to much. I laughed at one lad who posted here last night "Scotland are still better".. Well I'm not one to gloat but the table doesn't lie and rose tinted glasses must be selling by the bucket load in parts of Scotland. One person posted "ach pish the cannae only beat Germany with a long ball" Didn't Scotland draw with Poland last year with a long ball? Short memories and all that. The way a minority go on here you'd swear Scotland had revolutionised the way the game was played last year. I predicted even after our game in June when I was told by some Scot "we'll send you a postcard next summer" that the wheels would come off the Scottish cart and they most certainly did. The postcard that lad will be sending me will be from the. Lake District now. To the genuine Scots I'm sincerely sorry for you and wanted you in France to the bitter ones I can only laugh.
  19. Well here we are. An absolute massive week awaits both our respective nations. How do people people see the the remaining two games going for both Scotland and Ireland? Personally I think we'll get a maximum of one point from our two final games which will just about be enough. We've the best defensive record in the group so the two games should be tight affairs as all our games have been. We don't lose many games (only one all campaign) and a point should be enough for us. Without provoking you all I just cannot see Scotland beating the Poles. Scotland MUST win and I think that nervousness among the squad and Tartan Army faithful will be detrimental on the night. I predicted in the summer to Scottish and Irish fans that Scotland will lose three games in a row and I got laughed at and got told Ireland were "pish". The way Scotland play and the way Poland play iare interesting contrasts with Poland having the advantage. Scotland will most likely have to go out and attack for the win which is exactly what the Poles will want. They thrive on counter attacking at pace and we all know the lethal attackers that they have. This is not to mention the vocal support they'll have inside the ground. I know a group of six Poles travelling over from Ireland. No doubt there's many more like them from Ireland and the UK attending the match. A draw is the how I see the Hampden game going which will leave Poland and Ireland to play out a draw in Warsaw and us and the Poles go home happy.
  20. Not Mystic Meg so don't know how any match is going to go, but in Scotlands visit to Dublin you resembled a 1990's relegation side. Against Gerogia you were a Vauxhall Championship team. It actually embarrassed me to see the Scottish support gloating and patting their own back because they drew with a "pish" team in June and got one point against Germany and Poland. The fact some random person called me Seamus and doesn't like Guinness also doesn't make me want to see Scotland do at all well
  21. Look Hamish. We will more than likely be seeded for the play off if we get there so have a great chance
