  1. Thought the midfield did ok and matched their midfield area, our issue is both penalty boxes. We have a worrying lack of goal threat and always look capable of a defensive slip up. Worrying mix.
  2. Worst performance since the Burley era. We get 40-50% out of Tierney and Robertson in this system, would be better choosing one or the other to get 100% out of them. Would allow us a shape to play our more naturally attacking players like Forrest (and when he comes back) Fraser etc, need to scrap the 5-3-2 or disaster is pending.
  3. Wrong forum for this type of lewd post.
  4. He never said he would be first choice striker in Israel though, the headlines in the piss poor newspaper said it but all McLeish said was it would be hard to drop a a striker who performed well but it’ll be down to form and fitness. Que someone asking Griffiths about something that was never said and building a media crisis narrative.
  5. He’s unbeaten in 10 European matches and is consistently making outstanding saves in big matches. The clean sheet numbers you posted are a misnomer.
  6. It’s Pasta Mick you’re replying to, he thinks he should be dropped because McGregor is the Rangers GK and Craig Gordon is the Celtic GK. Im comfortable with both but McGregors been in better form imo and did nothing to get dropped against Albania.
  7. The SFA should ban any player who represents GB from playing for Scotland again.
  8. The reason we don’t qualify for anything has nothing to do with the age of the squad. Northern Ireland fielded half a pensioners eleven at the Euros.
  9. Especially as Rangers turned over Kilmarnock recently so definitely Rangers then.
  10. If every player in the squad was 36 and we get to the Euros I won’t care a jot what age they are, if a young player is good enough they’ll get in ahead of the experienced guys like Robertson and Tierney did.
  11. Funny with all the old firm stuff that goes on the most abuse on this forum is always from petty Aberdeen fans.
  12. In my time I have seen a multitude of abhorrently bad players playing for Scotland and none of them were booed for “being shite”. Absolute nonsense.
  13. I’m the complaininant here and I’ve neber done that. ”Whataboutery” at its finest.
  14. Was he booed onto the pitch on Friday because he’s a Rangers player? its not the first time this has happened and there was a fair amount of whataboutery the 2 pervious occasions with Black at Easter Road and Jack again at Pittodrie. The standard response I’ve had was “its because he’s crap” but I’ve seen players play for Scotland who are so bad they make Ryan Jack look world class and none of them were booed. Keep the club pish to your Saturday afternoons and turn up at Hampden to get behind EVERY player, I’d never boo a player for Scotland because I didn’t like him or his club domestically. Disgrace.
  15. They played defensively with the 5 and low block until they went behind, didn’t open up and go “toe to toe” until they were losing late in the game.
  16. Funny that McGinn never got that abuse in the first half...
  17. The fans that booed Jack coming on are a disgrace btw, no Scotland player should be booed because of what club they play for. Genuine apathy to the team and the game, don’t even feel that down because I genuinely have no connection to this Scotland “team” embarrassing performance.
  18. I like Johnston too, Middleton (who did really well for the 19’s tonight) plays the same position and is the same age as Johnston and offers something different. Johnston likes to cut in and drag full-backs inside and Middleton is more old fashioned and bombs down the line to deliver with a natural left out. Its a nice thought that maybe these 2 will provide different types of options on that side in years to come perhaps even going into the senior set-up. And we can change depending on the opposition we are up against.
  19. Porteus and Bates with McCrorie sitting in front is really solid at 21’s level and I’d like to see that pairing tested against the stronger sides, Hornby has potential to be our first really regular 21’s goalscorer since Rhodes and we don’t lack midfield talent at this level either (I really rate Gilmour and think he’s destined for the top). Wasn’t a sparkling performance but quite excited to see how this group develops especially with so many players missing tonight. Would be good to have a competitive 21’s group for the first time in a long while, it’s been our biggest problem as a national set-up.
  20. It worries me how many off form players we have going into this window, the Celtic core that served us well in the second half of the last campaign seems to be breaking up and Robertson aside we have very few core members of our squad performing at a consistently high level. Even our midfield which used to be nailed on to be trusted with a settled 3 seems to be disjointed in terms of who we go with and being in-form.
  21. Hi Sindre, that’s a very interesting topic and welcome to the forum! The Scots are world champions at talking ourselves down so if you come across pessimists about our support then don’t be surprised. I think home attendances and our overall feeling for the national team are not inexplicably linked, for instance Scotland actually has (per capita) the best attended domestic top division in Europe and has a disproportionately high number of Football supporters. Scotland and Norway are probably similar in that we’re both waiting for that magical moment where we can reach a major tournament and capture the imagination of the nation again, there’s an undoubted pessimism about the teams failings and Football in Scotland in general but I still think we’re on cusp of something perhaps in the euros. Seems like you need a football revolution in Norway to get people excited again.
  22. I’m 24 and it seems almost unthinkable to me what Scotland being in a major tournament is actually like. Its almost like it’s in the back of my head that we just won’t ever do it again, I don’t think I even feel the crushing disappointment that I used to when we inevitably don’t qualify. The energy of the country playing in a World Cup looked incredible. Must have been some experience.
