  1. Teams generally dont chase players these days without contract terms etc already being agreed with the players agent. There is zero chance of Kane saying no now unless Bayern change the terms of the offer which they have no reason to. Might be missing something but why would this trigger a Hatate purchase? They dont play in same position? Does Slasher mean Kyogo?
  2. Really good performance by Hearts. They were the better team although Rosenburg always looked like scoring 1 or 2 just from counter but also Hearts are still a tad nieve at this level. Play the same way next week and no reason Hearts cant go through. Watching Hibs now. Started the game well but its so open.
  3. Does 3rd place in the Europa drop into the conference play off the same way as 3rd in Champions League drops into Europa?
  4. I dont think Arteta is a bad manager. He is just clearly in the mold of Pep who doesnt play with traditional wide full backs. This is why Tierney doesnt play and wont play much this season. Tierney or his advisors surely know this and should be looking for a team who play in a system that suits him where he has already proven he is a top player. The only question mark is his injury record but at 35 odd million he isnt a huge outlay. (Given Newcastle have just paid more for somebody who isnt established in the full back position and will be as a back up to Trippier)
  5. Much better by Hibs and to be honest its what we should be expecting our clubs to do in these rounds both home and away. Hopefully the away leg was just a blip and lack of match practice. Is it 2 more rounds to get to the group stages? Think Hearts enter at the next stage aswell. Anybody got any info on both their opponents? Are they favourites on paper?
  6. 2-1 hibs and then edging it in extra time. They should be blowing teams like this away about 4 nil though.
  7. Perhaps not easily but in terms of natural ability there is nobody in Scotland better than him imo. Im trying to think of Celtic players who have more natural ability? Thats totally different from actual playing ability and who I would have in my team because if we are talking that then the likes of McGreggor and Hatate are streets ahead of him.
  8. Its like somebody has given Cantwell a quick book guide on how to become a Rangers fan favourite. When he 1st arrived he showed alot of effort and energy on the pitch which all fans love, especially Rangers fans at the current time as their team has lacked grit and fight for years. He also put in some good attacking displays. Its clear that he has talent. However towards the end of last season and from what ive seen in pre season he has become abit of a liability. His effort and energy has shifted to "barging into an opponent late", swaggering about the pitch and generally trying flicks and turns in areas of the pitch that he shouldnt. In pre season more often than not he was losing the ball bit even when he didnt all he achieved was beating a man in his own half. His spat with Sutton, chest pumping and insta presence have made him the new poster boy. Todd the Prod ive heard alot. I think he will become a polarising figure in the Rangers support. Some will think he "gets it" and cant dont anything wrong whereas others will see that he is actually contributing very little when it matters. Funny thing is. If he screws the nut he could easily be the best player in Scotland.
  9. Really excited by this kid. He is tiny but Liverpool have clearly been working on his body strength. He will obviously find it harder coming up against better defenders but his style reminds me of a young Ryan Giggs in the sense that he runs straight at defenders. By that I mean that most attacking players will run at a defender but aim at a side and then either beat them on that side or move the ball to the other side either with a trick or just speed. What Giggs was great at was just running straight at the defender. That makes it really hard for them to choose a body shape. He then rarely moved the ball very much. It was all his own body movement that threw the defender off and then he shifted the ball accordingly. Doak seems to have a very similar style and it suits his low centre of gravity and quick feet down to a tee.
  10. Im defo not closing the door on Turnbull but he should be nowhere near the Scotland squad until he reguarly gets into the Celtic 1st 11 and starts doing the things you mention. For the 2 attacking roles I would say we currently have McGinn, McTomminay, Christie, Armstrong and Ferguson ahead of him. We also have the likes of Nisbet and Shankland who would be considered as number 10s who would be ahead of him currently aswell. Doaks may leapfrog him aswell for the same role if he hasnt already. Id much rather a supporting role player at Liverpool with a very high ceiling like Doak over a supporting role player at Celtic who lets face it has gone backwards in the last few years.
  11. I would hope you have seen enough of my posts to realise that im not in the habit of attacking anybody etc. A quote is where somebody has actually said something. What you have posted is the Ibrox News article that is talking about Cantwells instagram post. (Which says lets fight for everything). The part in brackets is Cantwells qoute. Everything else is written by the author of the article. Its ok to say that you misread something. Dont double down as it just makes you look silly and gives your haters a stick to beat you with. For what its worth I agree with your sentiment. For years Rangers players appear to be very vocal pre season whilst Celtic players just quietly go about their business.
  12. I would actually like Doak to not go out on loan even if he gametime is limited. He needs to learn off the best. He doesnt need to be playing every week at his age where everything is about results (see Gimlour at Norwich). As long as he gets some cup games and the odd sub appearance this season then I will be happy. Once his decison making in the final 3rd is honed then he potentially is a top top player. Id have him in the squad over the likes of Brown and Turnbull. Sometimes its good to have a squad place for somebody who will clearly be a member of the team in the future. I wouldnt actually play him yet but have him in the squad, learning the tactics and the standards. If we are comfortable in a game then bring him on with the likes of Ferguson (who is further ahead in development but Doaks ceiling is way higher)
  13. Thats not him saying that!!! Thats the writer of the articles interpretation of what Cantwell actually posted. Which was "Lets fight for everything". Please tell me you understand the difference? Its like me reading one of your posts and writing an article about it. What I write has no bearing on what you originally posted. Its no wonder the press appeal to the lowest common demoninator.
  14. Did you even read the article. He posts "lets fight for everything" and has photoshoped a 56 onto his shorts. Do you expect Celtics main challengers not to want to fight for the league?
  15. The established leagues (and everything that revolves around them) are starting to get abit worried by this now I think. When Ronaldo went nobody really batted an eye because he was at the end of his career and was one player. Even when a host of other big names started going I dont think they were worried as it was all older players so basically a good payday for retiring players however what we are seeing now is players in their 20s who would normally leave a top club and go to either a midtable club or one of the other top 5 leagues.
  16. Ramy, honest question. Did you actually read the article and if so do you understand it? Cantwell posted a picture with the number 56 "Rangers are currently on 55 titles according to uefa and fifa" with the caption lets fight for everything. Nowhere does he say that they are going to win the league etc. Just that they are going to fight for it. Is that not what sport is all about?
  17. I wouldnt say football is a mans game. It can and should be played by girls and women.
  18. Disclaimer, I dont watch womens football. Im not against it, actually I think its great that girls get to play football and some people like watching it however one thing thats increasingly getting on my wick is the over pushing of it and also the narrative that goes along with it (that cant be challenged) Case in point, I kept hearing about Reece James sister and how great she is, then read a thing on Sky Sports this morning talking about her goal in the world cup yesterday saying if it was scored by Kane or De Brunye then the whole world would be talking about it. The inference being that its because it was scored by a women being the reason why they arent. So im thinking, oh that must have been very special so go and have a look at it and its literally just a side foot volley from about 12 yards out. Its the type of goal you see left backs scoring and nobody bats an eyelid.
  19. From what ive seen of Rangers they appear to have bought well (although Sima doesnt look that great to me.) Lammers will be an excellent player however as a team they just dont move the ball quickly enough. The difference when watching Celtic is the number of players moving off the ball. For Rangers its always pretty obvious where the next pass is going.
  20. Where in the article does if say that they are trying to guarentee participation? Does it not just say that nothing has been communicated? Tbh ive got no idea why Ireland has been included. It made sence with a Celtic bid of 3 smaller nations but zero sense in a UK bid.
  21. Watched the Celtic friendly tonight. Was the 1st chance ive had to see them since Rodgers returned. Conclusion is that they will struggle in Europe again, far too open but will win the league again. When teams have the energy and discipline to press them high then they struggle however when they sit off Celtic will score loads. Main difference in style is that Ange seemed to play alot more quick passes through the middle whereas Rodgers will either go quick down the wings or stop and control and then rely on passing and movement when teams sit in. The movement and quickness that Celtic move the ball is the difference between them and Rangers (although maybe Rangers players are still to click)
  22. I actually agree and if I was betting id guess thats whats in his mind however my point is that, thats all we are all doing at the moment. Guessing. All im saying is lets not put words in the boys mouth by interpreting statements and passing the interpretation off as facts. Would he improve us yes. Will we be a good team without him. Yes. 5 years or so ago we were scrambling about looking for anybody to be a saviour. We are long past that now.
  23. Cross country bids are good but only if they involve countries that couldnt host on their own. Ie a Celtic / Scandanavian, Baltic bid etc. Countries like Italy, Spain, England or Germany dont need to do a cross country bid and for me just doesnt sit right because you know fine well that the final and most of the focus will be in the big country.
  24. I dont think joining Uefa will be their goal. Doesnt make sence from a World Cup qualification point. I do however think you are right with the participation in any reconstruction / super league. Sport is changing, its global and travelling isnt such a big deal. Change will come in some shape or form in the next ten years and you can bet the Saudis not only want to be at the table but want to be holding some cards. As much as I hate the idea of super leagues etc, I also dont like the way football has been for the last 15 years or the direction of travel. The gap between the big and smaller leagues cant be closed as things stand.
  25. Whilst that maybe true, its also your assumptions. It doesnt read like anything really. For example, almost everybody said the same about McTomminay when McLeish and Southgate were trying to call him up at the same time. Maybe he just wants to concentrate on establishing himself in the Newcastle side before thinking about international football. In the same way Hickey got slaughtered on here for doing the same and that turned out ok. Im always relaxed about these things. If he ends up playing for England then so be it, if its us then I wont be holding anything against him. We are doing well enough to be a viable option for players now.
