I was mad that Gavin died in the first episode he made me laugh. I mentioned to someone else that the show totally changed my opinion of the word ‘cunt ‘ 😆 I really hate that word and only use it in exceptional circumstances ( see Andrew Neil…) but I found the regular use of ‘rat cunt’ quite funny, to the point I now kinda think of it along the lines of ‘wee shite’ 😆 I am watching Baby Reindeer just now and not really getting the hype, though the latest episode was a bit better. Got a 6 month deal with Now Tv for £4.99 a month so gone back to Curb Your Enthusiasm which I love. Also been watching Frasier , its the first time since I watched it when it was out. It might not work, but the party are left with few choices.

If I had to put a bet on the likelihood of either Walter Smith (RIP) taking us to a major tournament or John Swinney leading a successful SNP election campaign my money would still not be on Swinney. Can I assume that the intention is that whoever gets the gig will lead the SNP to the next election ? If so, can you imagine JS coping with the media and opposition? I agree with this. On the independence push it’s an unbelievably thin line the SNP are trying to balance. Half the support want an immediate referendum and the rest want to build support. As you say, every government has their day, I am pretty certain that without independence the SNP would be out of power now. But for what ? Labour? Yeeha. Lets look forward to all the improvements they are going to bring. Yummy. I could see people wanting a change of government if they could actually see an improvement, but it ain’t going to happen. Yes, you might get a few potholes fixed but you will be paying Boots the chemist for the privilege when prescription charges are reintroduced. I am retiring at the end of the year and had a financial guy in earlier to get some advice . He lives just over the border. His son has just graduated and has student debts of £45k. Someone who only a year ago ruled himself out saying new talent was needed does not inspire me with confidence. IMO John Swinney is either under immense pressure from certain colleagues to put himself forward , or he is allowing his ego to be stroked , neither are a good reason to take on this responsibility. I actually like John Swinney as a person, but he is not strong enough. In the interview Ally ( I think) posted, Stephen Flynn did not sound convincing at all at supporting Swinney. Sounded a bit too ‘script like’ than passionate. Makes me think not only is pressure being put on Swinney to stand but pressure is being put on MP’s and MSP’s to nominate him. There is not one person I feel totally confident about but if she is on the list then Forbes will get my vote again. .

Especially when they have previously managed the club and been ineffective at best. Another leadership contest. At least by retaining my membership I can have another say but if no one is nominated that I feel is competent for the job I wont bother voting. Picking the best of a bad bunch is pointless plus I am not encouraging a party that just makes the same mistakes again. Has anyone got confirmation of Alba’s demands yet? It would be good to know if they were taking the piss or the high heid yins will just never entertain AS.

This is true ( gaining support in one demographic and losing in another) , probably similar to the Brexit situation where independence support rose in pro EU people but reduced in anti EU . In Scotland though we still have an older generation and I think the more ‘woke’ policies are harder to implement , particularly when we have a media happy to distort information. I cannot claim to truly understand all the science , arguments and nuances around transgender for example but its been an easy win for the ‘ anti woke’ as neither does most of the population . Too much focus has been placed on it I think at this particular stage. Easy for me to say though when I am not affected in any significant way by it. Tbh I am glad something is happening , I feel we have just been sleep walking for years, this is a massive juncture, the SNP really need to consider the bigger picture .

I agree with all of this. However I think Kate Forbes has the ability to steady things and oversee policies that would appeal to a wider range of people, and in turn increase support. Increasing support is the ONLY long term way of independence succeeding. My concern however is that she is not ‘ likeable’ enough , there is something about her that I cant put my finger on. My patience with the SNP is being tested. If it transpires that they have rejected Alba’s support for no good reason I will seriously consider my membership. At very best I will refuse to campaign for them. I only joined SNP for independence, if they reject the only other party who has this as a priority then they are not for me.

Thats a lot of places covered especially with kids. Have heard San Sebastian is lovely . In 2014 we travelled to Split for 3 days , Dortmund for 2 days ( for the Germany game) , Budapest for 3 then Berlin for 3. Was absolutely knackered by the end but really enjoyed the various places. In Morocco now. Its mainly just for relaxation and sun so not seen very much but we are close to a wee village called Taghazout which is interesting . An old man gave me a row for taking a video. I didn’t even reallse until i played the video back later and heard him saying ‘ no video laydee . No nice’ 😂’ I was only taking a quick video of the street he wasnt even in it. The folk are generally very friendly though.

not entirely true. I never voted for him. You have more influence being in the party than out it and pretty much the only reason i am still there. No point in people greetin that their choice of leader has not been elected again , when they have voluntarily cancelled the small part of control they had. Sometimes you dont get your own way in life, but you at least need to be in it to win it.

Completely agree. Its hard to know who is genuine and who is not regarding Independence, but he could easily have thrown the towel in after Indyref and did not. His own company is bank rolling a lot of the indy stuff they do, subs font cover all their costs. If there was a politically neutral force to get behind this would be it for me. I have mentioned them a few times on here , I have joined their last 2 online independence congresses, but no one on here ever seems to involved. I would be at the march on Saturday but am on holiday.

Yes , I would agree with that. The final episode in particular was a bit of a let down. There was some decent individual performances throughout , and it was quite funny at times , the episode with the travelling community was good. But like you say , wouldn’t lose any sleep if it wasnt renewed.
