  1. Despite the name, they are not a metal band. Mind you, the name may well be why they were targeted.
  2. I wasn't having a go at you but at the original poster. I get exactly what you say and in a ideal world... Problem is, this form of unfounded speculation does nothing other than demonise refugees.
  3. There's an SDL demo today in Monkton "protesting" over a hotel that is temporarily housing 150 refugees. It's ill informed garbage like saying ISIS are smuggling in terrorists posing as refugees that stokes up the bile that these racist morons feed off. Even if it were true, does that make any difference. What about terrorists posing as students or tourists or whatever. Stop everyone who looks a bit foreign? Of course, the most likely origin of these terrorists are that they will be native born French of North African origin.
  4. It's about as widely known as the 20000 - or whatever made up number it was - polish immigrants in Poole and Bournemouth, which was the last bit of xenophobic push he was posting.
  5. You can go back a lot longer than that but if religion didn't exist mankind would just find some other excuse.
  6. Or to post in the correct forum it seems.
  7. It's not closed off but there is a remembrance event.
  8. The Sunshine Appeal is a CHILDRENS charity, why on earth would they do that?
  9. I think there's something on what he says about playing in the reserves as opposed to youth teams. I think there is a point where playing against other players of the same age stops having any benefit and to improve you need to test yourself against stronger and better players. It's not about being kicked up and down the park - well there is an element of that - but it's about being able to avoid being kicked up and down the park and being able to impose yourself on the game and physically stronger players, because lets face it that's exactly what they are going to face if they make it into the first team. I think that scrapping the reserve leagues and bringing in the development league was a laudable attempt to kick start youth development but arguably it hasn't worked and we're really no further forwards than we were 17 years ago when it was introduced. I'm not really sure what the answer is myself and I don't think its as simple as turning the clock back 30 years.
  10. Given he's now Head of Pensions or something for Aberdeen Asset Management, I imagine he's not the slightest bit bothered.
  11. He looks a lot faster playing for Bournemouth than Scotland. I don't know if that's to do with Bournemouth's forwards being quicker and he has to check himself a bit when he plays for Scotland to avoid overrunning.
  12. Was there for a short holiday, only about 10 days, two years ago. Was really impressed with Santiago especially. Looks on the surface like a pretty prosperous thriving city. Had a day trip down to Valparaiso which is a bit shabbier but definitely has a certain charm. Scenery down at the bottom in Patagonia is unbelievable.
  13. I voted Lib Dem at the 2005 GE. It was a completely tactical vote to try and oust Theresa May - a case of better the devil you don't know that the devil you do. Going into the election there was certainly a chance as she a majority of just over 3000 and the Lib Dems at the time controlled the local council. She doubled her majority and now has a majority of just under 30000.
  14. Any comments from Gregg McClymont, Anas Sarwar or Jim Murphy? http://www.cumbernauld-media.com/news/politics/1206-labour-claims-cumbernauld-tax-office-jobs-are-under-threat-from-indyref-yes-vote
  15. I don't think there is any bar to being in the House of Lords. Even arsonists and drunks are allowed in.
  16. The problem with Rifkind and Straw was that they hadn't broken any of the rules - which shows you how bad the rules are. Carmichael has admitted himself he broke the rules. The specific sections of the code that has been reported on are: 10. Members shall base their conduct on a consideration of the public interest, avoid conflict between personal interest and the public interest and resolve any conflict between the two, at once, and in favour of the public interest. 14. Information which Members receive in confidence in the course of their parliamentary duties should be used only in connection with those duties. Such information must never be used for the purpose of financial gain. 16. Members shall never undertake any action which would cause significant damage to the reputation and integrity of the House of Commons as a whole, or of its Members generally.
  17. If the election court finds against Carmichael then he would be barred from standing in any subsequent by-election. One other thing that seems to be being overlooked is that there is still an investigation by the Parliamentary Standards Commision outstanding. Presumably this is on hold so as not to prejudice the Election Court. However given that he's already admitted himself that he breached the ministerial code, that should be a slam dunk. If they decide to suspend him then the constituents should be able to mount a petition to recall him and force a by-election that way.
  18. I'd say the Lib Dems are a complete busted flush on the Scottish Mainland and I think the GE proved that in May. Unless anything dramatically changes - and their is no real evidence of that happening - then they will lose all their FPTP seats and their list vote will be dramatically reduced. The only real doubt is over Tavish Scott and Liam McArthur. I may be wrong in this but I think Shetland is slightly more Nationalist leaning than Orkney. There's a lot of mud being thrown at Tavish Scott about when and what he knew about the leak which I think he'll have real problems getting out from under it.
  19. He was out of contract, not released.
  20. Nope, you're misrepresenting what I am saying. I was referring to this. Which is your assumption that wages in an independent Scotland would automatically be lower.
  21. Really worth listening to that. Absolutely horrible story of her seeing her husband come off his bike and be killed in her rear view mirror. Puts a lot of things into perspective.
