  1. What's counter-intuitive to an extent about that is that Sunderland was another strong-Leave supporting area and yet the Lib Dems are the strongest EU supporting party. I wonder if there's local factors at play there, although I did see the Lib Dems gain another council seat last night from the Tories.
  2. In my experience - amongst Yes supporters I know - there is generally a certain level of sympathy for Corbyn given that MSM treatment and also the backstabbing going on in the PLP. There is also a level of support for his policies - independence apart. That said, there's also a view that he's not a leader and the fact he hasn't sorted out his party after being in place for nearly 18 months does back that up. I wouldn't be surprised high Corbyn didn't have higher approval ratings in Scotland amongst SNP voters than Labour voters. Edit. In fact that's the case. This poll from September shows that 19% of labour voters thought he was doing well compared with 31% of SNP voters. https://yougov.co.uk/news/2016/07/26/labours-woes-north-border-are-getting-worse/
  3. Tristram Hunt's resigned so that'll be one less back stabber for him to worry about. Keen to see how that by-election pans out as Stoke voted 70% Leave. He only had a 5000 majority over UKIP in 2015, so it'll interesting to see if that high Leave vote carries over to support for UKIP.
  4. Here's a bold prediction. At the next independence referendum - assuming she's no longer SLab leader - she'll come out for Indy.
  5. Is that still their policy? I thought they were only talking about that until the ability to set bands and rates was devolved. I thought their tax policy was to increase the higher rate to 50%. I think the Lib Dems might have been talking about a 1p rise to the basic rate to fund education. Just checked and they were proposing both.
  6. Never, ever, read the comments on the Scotsman website. It's like peering into Dante's inferno.
  7. Well the reality is of course that a lower oil price is marginally better for the Scottish economy as the reduction in overall fuel costs drives lower costs and prices across the economy. But that's something which tends to be overlooked when discussing the impact of the oil price on Scotland's economy.
  8. Maybe he'll get one of his promos right. LL Bean are a clothes retailer, LBPerfectMaine is a lobster restaurant in Maine. I've no idea if they've donated to Trump.
  9. I suspect that growing up in Inverness and living in Perthshire, he really doesn't know very much about Sectarian bigotry. If he did do, he wouldn't be so keen to stir the pot so much. The same can be said for Adam Tompkins.
  10. That just shows up how amateurish Labour are. You would think that after Ruth Davidson, didn't land a blow with her questions on health, that she would have a set of back up questions on a different topic and would go to them instead. And here's Murdo on the bridge.
  11. That's open to argument. The contractual delivery date is in the summer of 2017 but the original planned date was December 2016. If you're a SG politician you'd say that the bridge will be open on time, if you're an opposition politician then you'll say it's six months date. Both are strictly speaking correct, but are different things. If you're familiar with project management, you'll realise that they've simply used up the contingency built into the original plan.
  12. I was speaking to an old friend a couple of months ago who mentioned that he'd been at school with Murdo Fraser. I guess one way to really piss him off should be to point out that he was formerly in the IRA, he went to Inverness Royal Academy. Funnily enough, said friend now lives in Portadown and gets quite a few raised eyebrows whenever he's asked what school he went to - which I suspect is on a fairly regular basis.
  13. While I certainly don't agree with Reagan's politics, he's unfairly derided in the UK. Before becoming the president, he was Governor of California for 8 years. He's generally regarding favourably in the US and would be one of the more popular post war presidents.
  14. She's that stupid she'll probably do it, despite Wales being as bad if not worse than England.
  15. Feruz now off to the mighty Swindon Town on loan. He'll be playing in the National League next season at this rate.
  16. Oil price going up again now, so now it'll be back to being a burden.

So what. The price paid for a player represents that player's value within the market at the time and the price the buying team is prepared to pay, nothing more, nothing less. It has no direct bearing on that player's ability, or their ranking against comparable players. Paul Scholes was one of, if not the, best English players of his generation and never attracted a transfer fee.

Okay, maybe more like 15 or 16 years ago.

I remember a few years backs when Jermaine McSporran broke through at Wycombe Wanderers a few people on here were touting him for a call up.
