  1. Yes I enjoy Serie A. Always something happening, Generally their VAR work is quite efficient, that last night wasn't normal but it does happen occasionally as they are pretty obsessed with getting things correct. As another poster mentioned the Rome derby is on today with a 1700 kickoff and the evening game is Juventus v Inter, 1945 kickoff - so should have plenty to entertain in those games. As I said most of the time things are done fairly well but check out the link below for highlights of a game from earlier this season where chaos was the order of the day.
  2. I think the early kickoffs for the lower league teams may well become a reality on Saturdays in December and January.
  3. Cheers, sounds reasonable. Just thinking about implications for fans buying hospitality packages. Would they sell more on a Friday night, or a Saturday afternoon?
  4. I was wondering about the decision to play this on Friday night. Obviously not for TV purposes and the Championship game was on BBC Scotland for folks wanting a Friday night fitba fix. Noticed Killie v Livingston was played last night also. Are the Premiership clubs exploring methods of possibly bringing in better revenue?
  5. I'm sure Kyogo has a few caps to his name - 17 or something. Hatate only has one cap so perhaps one tournament too early. They do have some strong central midfield players playing in better leagues. I messaged the sports editor over there and he said the squad was met with a degree of surprise.
  6. Having written an article in the summer on the influence of the Japanese players at Celtic for the Japanese sports site I freelance for, I noted with interest yesterday that Kyogo and Hatate didn't make the final cut for Japan's World Cup squad. Daizen Maeda is in their squad though.
  7. Aye, watched the draw with interest yesterday. I see Formartine come from a place called Pitmedden. Looks just north of Aberdeen from what I could gather mileage wise. Will be a good day out for the fans that one, and a chance to progress if we play to the standard expecred. Decent draw for Fraserburgh too - home game, you never know what can happen.
  8. Cheers for the reply to my question Fairbairn. Good to see it kicked off a football discussion. As for a replacement, one of the Rangers lads in my company on Saturday was saying he'd have Gerrard back in an instant, if, and as I was saying my Rangers mates seem to think it inevitable, Van Bronckhorst is shown the door.
  9. Was in the boozer with a couple of Rangers supporting mates yesterday. They were both of the opinion the Van Bronckhurst is finished and will be getting his books sooner rather than later at Ibrox. Any Rangers fans on here got any thoughts on this?
  10. So one remark or two sparked a good debate regarding the keepers. Gordon, McGregor, Leighton, Goram seems to be the consensus so far. Any older posters able to add any keepers from longer ago, or are these guys so far ahead of anyone else? What was Alan Rough like? My dad tells me Ronnie Simpson was a fine keeper in his era, not sure how often he played for Scotland or how well though.
  11. Did you console yourself with the fact you witnessed a 13-year-old Ronaldo score for Brazil four years before he was capped at senior level?
  12. Cheers - and I'm sure plenty would agree with the best keeper Scotland have ever had remark.
  13. Did you meet him by chance, or do you know him? Or were you talking to him in a media capacity?
  14. He joined Cremonese on loan fairly close to the end of the transfer window if I remember correctly. He's been in their matchday squad twice since then - away to Atalanta where he was on for the final 7 mins to help see out a 1-1 draw - then home to Lazio in the game before the international break - Cremonese got scudded 4-0 and Hendry remained on the bench. Since they returned to Serie A, Cremonese have been playing a 3 Perhaps that spanking by Lazio will bring about a system or personnel change from their manager. They face fellow top league newcomers Lecce away on Sunday. It will be interesting to see if Hendry is in the manager's plans for that one. I am sure over the course of the season he will manage to get into their starting 11, and will play most games.
  15. Correct. Took us a while but standing up to their physical approach was pleasing to see.
  16. Edinburgh Rugby did the lone piper thing at their match last Friday. Worked pretty well I though.
  17. That's the type of ruthless efficiency I want to see from my team someday.
  18. RB Leipzig binned their manager and his coaching staff earlier today too. 5 points from the first five Bundesliga fixtures before getting hounded 4-1 at home by Shakhtar last night in Champs Lge Group F deemed not good enough by the Leipzig decision makers.
  19. Was the lede on BBC Sport this morning. Saw £1.9Bn in the headline. Obscene.
  20. Hour. One game a week and no shoulder programming to support it. Not like their channels were jam packed with live action at 11:30.
  21. Shorter buildup to Hibs v Rangers today because Soccer AM was on THREE channels simultaneously. Utter nonsense from the Sky.
  22. Good, fast flowing game at Ibrox last night. Very entertaining. After showing how good their attacking play was early, it was ironic that PSV scored from two corners - goals Rangers could have prevented by getting the basics of defending right. Another good one in prospect next week in the return game, won't be much in it either way.
  23. Yeah, thanks for sharing the opinions folks. I've done some additional reading and shied away from it. It seems like the entry level investment would be more than I would be prepared to lose too. I'll just keep grinding away at the day job for now. Cheers.
